Breaking right now fire tragedy in Delaware County claims the life of an elderly woman and it appears she was only inches away from escaping the flames with her family. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott is live near the scene in yeadon. Katherine. Matt, the victim was a 76yearold woman. Her name has not been released. There were three other family members inside the home. They were able to escape out the back door and you can see restoration crews were on the scene right now starting to board up this home here. Most of the damage is on the first floor of the home. The fire broke out just before 3 00 a. M. On the unit block of East Providence road here in yeadon and when fire crews arrived they were met with heavy smoke at the front door. And they soon discovered the womans body on the porch. The fire was under control within 20 minutes. Investigators now believe the fire began in the living room and then spread to the front porch. They say it was not electrical but havent determined a cause. There were working Smoke Detectors on each floor but one of them had melted by the time firefighters arrived. The one Smoke Detector was melted on the living room, that was melted, you know, so it went off sounded, notified the other occupants. He also may have carjacked a man. Police say wright has committed 10 robberies since march, some in west and southwest philadelphia and hes getting more violent. A possible coating to an inch is possible and you do want to watch for slick spots this morning. Again, this all wraps up after lunchtime this afternoon and hopefully a little bit before then. You see that reflecting in the speeds. 19 miles an hour on 95 southbound near girard. 15 miles an hour on the schuylkill westbound past the boulevard. Weve got this water main break in camden causing a problem. Route 168 southbound weve got a water main break past ferry avenue. What theyre doing is allowing traffic to operate on the northbound side and you want to watch for icy conditions. Weve had a lot of problems with that. In Lehigh County i talked to police here saying theres an accident involving a tractortrailer on 322 at mill creek road so watch for that. Its mostly off to the side but as crews respond to that it might be a problem. Weve got a downed pole causing a problem here in bucks county, 413 is closed between smith and pineville road so just stick to pineville road as your alternate for that one. Now septa regional rails everything is running on time at this point but people there tell me that the issue theyre having with septa this morning is that the electronic schedules arent working. That means online the schedules arent right and when you go to the stations on the boards the schedules arent right. They said the only thing you could do is stand on the platform and wait for your train or ask the ticket operator ask someone for help so you want to give yourself some extra time because a cold day to be doing that.
