And police say this hotel was hit last night and theyre looking to see if this case is connected to seven previous robberies. The one that took place last night was here at the extended stay america. Theres no word on what was taken but nobody was reported to be injured. A series of armed robberies at hotels in philadelphia and Delaware County. Now police are investigating if one that took place last night in tinicum township is connected. Just before 11 30 p. M. Police were called to this extended stay america on the 9000 block of tinicum boulevard. The suspect was armed with a gun and wearing a mask. Prior to this latest Robbery Police connected this man to seven recent cases in philadelphia and delaware counties that took place from december 20th to the 23rd. Hes considered armed and dangerous. The gun is real. Reporter in one case he fired it. While most of the hotels police say he hit have been near the airport last tuesday afternoon he struck at this north american motor inn on city avenue. General manager diamond burwell describes how he grabbed the claire and clocked the suspect with it knocking a stolen pocketbook off him. He turned around and fired two shots missing burwell. Back here on the ground so i dont know whether it ricocheted off anything or not but we just tired of it, thats all. Enough is enough. It happened just before 11 00 last night on the roberts of a off ramp in tioga nicetown. Police say the driver was speed willing she exited route 1 north. Her car jumped the curb lit a pole splitting that pole in half from finally landing in a 20foot ditch. Police say several bottles of alcohol were found at the scene. They believe that speed and alcohol were contributing factors to this fatal auto accident. Three other passengers were in that vehicle including a pregnant woman. They are all expected to be okay. An eightyearold kensington boy is recovering from a gun shot wound and several questions remain on how he ended up in the line of fire. The boy was shot in the shoulder and taken to Saint Christophers Hospital for children yesterday afternoon. Philadelphia police say they didnt learn about the shooting until hours later. Detectives also say theyre not quite sure where the shooting took place. Relatives claim the boy was shot while riding his bike along the 2500 block of oriana street. Police found no evidence of that. Cant find any ballistic evidence, any shell casings any bullets any projectiles. Cant even find the bicycle. The detectives are now waiting for a warrant to search the familys home. The boy is in stable condition and expected to recover. Passengers on board a u. S. In this latest case the suspect was armed, he was wearing a mask and theres no word on what was taken. Just before 11 30 last night police in tinicum township were called to this extended stay america on the 9000 block of tinicum boulevard. Police are investigating to see if this latest robbery at gunpoint is connected to seven recent cases in philadelphia and Delaware County. Most of them near the airport and allegedly orchestrated by the same man caught on multiple hotel surveillance cameras. He jumps over the counters in some of them. The serial bandit who has been on a spree for the past three weeks has struck once again. The fbi says his latest target was in bryn mawr at the wells fargo on the 1200 block of East Lancaster avenue yesterday morning. That would make it the eighth holdup this month with the bandit getting away with cash in six of those cases. Based on the number of banks in such a short period of time we think hes a fairly desperate individual and any time you have that level of desperation were concerned about a potential move to violence or an increase in the violent activity. Investigators say though the robber has not displayed a weapon he does pass tellers a threatening demand note in each of the robberies. In almost all of the holdups hes been seen wearing large prescription eyeglasses and has not made much of an attempt to hide his identity. The fbi is asking anyone who knows who he is to provide a tip to them or to philadelphia police. A pursuit in Delaware County ended in a fiery crash. Police claim the victim was trying outrun the law. Police are still trying to identify the driver involved in the deadly chase. It all began on chester pike in folcroft yesterday afternoon and then came to a deadly end a mile down the road right in front of the glenolden firehouse. Officers were trying to conduct an ordinary traffic stop when the driver of a white altima took off. The altima ultimately crashed into another car killing the fleeing driver. The bystander driver is Still Critical at Crozer Chester medical center. 6 35 and we have breaking developments in the search for air asia flight 8501. They have been finding dozens upon dozens of bodies in the java sea off the coast of borneo. The flight originally came from this part of indonesia and was heading to singapore and its last contact was somewhere in this area, 6 17 on sunday and thats where theyre finding the bodies and weve just learned they may have spotted a shadow of the plane as well. Now heres some new video of search crews being lowered from a helicopter into the waters of the java sea to retrieve debris. It is red white and black in color which matches the colors of the air asia plane. The helicopter crew first spotted six bodies floating in the waters near the coast of borneo earlier today. They have recovered 40 so far. Relatives of those on board have received the news, some cried, others passed out. The u. S. S. Samson is on its way to the java sea to offer more help. The plane was carrying 162 people when it vanished two days ago. One woman could have been among them. We were supposed to be on that flight. Search teams will also try to recover the black boxes. The battery life lasts about 30 days. A vigil is scheduled this evening for the elderly couple killed in a fast moving fire in berks county. The husband and wife Pedro Morales and miriam vega died when a three alarmer burned their home in reading. Both victims had been diagnosed with alzheimers. Also happening today a new york man charged in connection with a horrible crash that killed three teenagers from bucks county will appear in court. The three teens were students at Council Rock High school south. They were killed when their car collided with another vehicle on goose pond road in paupack township wayne county. 53yearold michael ware is accused of giving his 15yearold daughter the keys to his vehicle even though he knew she did not have a drivers license. Tam. Okay, thank you matt. New this morning a Health Worker who was diagnosed with ebola after returning to scotland from sierra leone is being transferred to a Specialist Treatment Center in london. Scottish officials confirm the case yesterday. They say the patient is a Healthcare Worker who was helping to combat the disease in west africa. Since an ebola out break began last year there have been more than 7,500 deaths, most of them in liberia guinea and sierra leone. Lapd on high alert after a gunman fired at police. It happened early yesterday morning. One person has been arrested, a second person remains after large. The two officers were inside a patrol car were not injured and one managed to fire back. No one was hit. Police have not revealed a motive but they say theres no indication the attack is linked to the Police Ambush in left two nypd officers dead. From our delaware news room a canine with New Castle County police was wounded in a dog fight. It happened in a wooded area near the unit block of edgemoor road in edgemoor yesterday afternoon. Police have been checking on Homeless People in the woods and one of their dogs attacked the police canine. A New Castle County officer intervened, opened fire on the attacking dog. Authorities have not disclosed the condition of either animal. A high ranking republican is under fire for possible ties to white supremacist. Louisiana representative Steve Scalise admits he spoke at a workshop on civil rights host by david duke back in 2002. Duke was once a grand wizards with the klu klux klan.
