As you mentioned, three people injured, two of them residents, one of them a firefighter. Meanwhile here at the scene, about 50 people have been displaced. We saw people taking what they could in their cars and going to their friends or relatives homes. Take a live look behind me. Firefighters are still on scene but theyre packing things up. They should be leaving momentarilily. I also want to show you this apartment union, unit, the second floor where were told the fire started early this morning. Viewer video shows the blaze really spreading rather quickly and Authorities Say they got the call around 12 30 this morning about a fire at the Canterbury Court apartment complex on academy road near morell avenue here in northeast philadelphia. Firefighters arrived in about five minutes and the fire was showing from a second floor unit that i just showed you. The entire building was evacuated due to fire and heavy smoke. It took about an hour to get the blaze completely under control. About 50 people were displaced, many of them were sitting on the septa bus as they waited for further arrangements. We talked to one woman who says this is the second time shes been displaced by a fire, though this time she was able to salvage some things. Take a listen to what authorities have to say. Right now theyre not being taken anywhere. Were waiting right now for office of Emergency Management one of our partners and red cross and also Building Management and all those together were going to Work Together to find houses for all the displaced occupants that remain. A brave 84yearold woman refused to back down when an intruder tied her up in her philadelphia home. Police are searching for the attacker this morning. This happened at 2 oclock in the afternoon to an 84yearold woman. Investigators are calling for tips. Theyre hoping that someone knows something about the person behind this. In the meantime, were told the victim is in good spirits. I cant imagine. I think i would be traumatized. Reporter an 84yearold woman tied up and robbed yesterday afternoon in her Queen Village home. She was up walking and talking to police soon after. He had her tied up in the basement. She went up and yelled fire. Reporter the victims friend described what happened to her after a robber broke into her home on front street and demanded money. Somebody came up behind her, that tiny little 84yearold precious, sweet as a kitty cat smart as a whip. Reporter police say the robber restrained the 84yearold womans arms and legs with a belt and dog leash. Neighbors were stunned this happened, especially midday. When that happens, it means that it doesnt matter how good the neighborhood, because theyll get in somehow.
