At your commute. Good morning. Well, it is another cold one to start out and we have app possibility of some wintry precipitation up north later tonight. Lets start with that. A Winter Weather advisory kicks in at 6 oclock in our northern suburbs including northern bucks, northern montgomery counties, the lehigh valley, berks county and on up into the poconos. This will gradually expire later this evening from south to north. Might take until about 2 oclock in the morning until it drops up in the poconos and the issue is that as precipitation comes from the north and west it could begin as some snow or some light freezing rain which is always the most difficult precipitation in the winter for drivers and for pedestrians as it looks like rain but its freezing up on the surface and you can get slipping and sliding. Any time after about 6 oclock or 7 oclock if you do see precip look out for it to be the frozen variety up there. Warm air sweeps in from the south temperatures rise and later tonight we see it change or to all rain. Looks like there could be some early sun but like yesterday, the clouds are going to get thick fairly quickly and then theres some precipitation out to the west right now pittsburgh seeing some snow. I think most that of dries out before it gets here later this evening though we get that Northern Tier precip that i just talked about. 15 degrees on the bus stop in philadelphia, just 9 degrees in trenton. 13 in allentown. 17 reading. 15 in wilmington. 28 degrees a little bit milder as that southerly flow brings in milder air right off the ocean. And theres not much wind out there so we really dont have to worry about any wind chill this morning. Obviously though when you got temperatures in the teens you bundle up. 15 degrees by 7 oclock. 33 by noon. Now your high today is going to be 38 but we wont hit it until later tonight. Probably wont get there until, oh, lets tap that, probably until about 9 oclock tonight, okay, so thats your high. We slowly climb toward it today. A fair amount of clouds through the day. And then later this evening we have that precipitation of the frozen variety up north. Karen, mild air is on the way, back tomorrow and especially thursday. Details ahead. All right weve been waiting for that mild air. Come on, lets get to it. Looking outside live on i95, this is at academy. Thats your southbound traffic headed towards center city. Moving just fine. No problems. Icy spots for the most part confined to the shoulder right there. On the vine street expressway, was shutdown for construction. It is reopened. And you see volume building just a touch but everything is moving fine on the vine. Looking at the big picture blue route is okay. Schuylkill no problems and i95 for the most part good. I dont think that 18 miles an hour right now is right but theres a sinkhole thats continuing to create a problem p in kensington with boston street shut down. This is a serious accident in tinicum township Delaware County on essington avenue. Hearing there are injuries so youll see ems crews on the scene with that one. Trenton water crews have given the Hughes Justice complex the all clear to be back opened today. They fixed a broken water main on market street. Yesterday aaa received almost as many dead battery calls as the previous three days combined. The motor club reminds drivers to test their batteries each year once they get to about three years of age. At 32 degrees, a battery can lose 35 percent of its strength due to the cold and thats not how you want your day to start. It could be one more morning, david, where you hear that. No kidding. The last couple days my concerned i turned it on and it was like, nah. Storm tracker6 live double scan shows thus despite the cold we are dry this morning so you dont have to worry about any snow other than the icy stuff thats already on the surface from the snow we had the other day. As we take a look outside we have sky6. Theres city hall looking right down ben franklin parkway and across the love park area and it is cold out there and if you see anybody Walking Around early this morning in these shots, they are very likely bundled up with the hoods and everything else. 15 degrees currently in philadelphia. At least the winds arent all that strong out of the east at only 3 Miles Per Hour so we dont really have any real severe wind chills but temperatures are severe without that, though. Could be some early sunshine, clouds look like theyre going to sweep in from the west pretty quickly this morning and there is some snow out in pittsburgh that probably falls apart before it gets here later this evening however, we do get some precipitation off in the Northern Tier and that could be a little freezing rain tonight and maybe some light snow. More on that in a second. Todays forecast, 16 degrees by 8 oclock. 24, staying cold by 10 oclock and by noon just above the freezing mark. Notice todays high is 38 but i dont have it listed here anywhere. Whats going on . Look at how numbers keep rising. Doesnt look like well hit that 38 until about 8 oclock or 9 oclock tonight so temperatures slowly on the rise with a southerly flow but staying pretty cold most of the day. High temperatures across the region will mainly be in the evening. 35 degrees in allentown, 38 in philadelphia. 38 in wilmington. 40 in millville and in cape may. And as we take a look at that precipitation, 5 oclock it doesnt look like theres a lot going on. The latest model runs actually keep this arriving snow and freezing rain mix all the way to the north and west of the region as lates 9 oclock. Theyre their actually is a chance that it comes in sooner, say, 6, 7 oclock but the bottom line is if youre in these Northern Areas and you start to see precipitation, if its snow of course you slow down but if it looks like rain you slow down, too because it will be cold enough up in these Northern Areas for a good portion of the evening and overnight for it to fall as freezing rain and thats the stuff that turns to ice as it hits the surface looks like rain but it can give you a lot of trouble. By 11 oclock still looks like were fairly mild or fairly cold i mean and there could be some snow and maybe some of that freezing rain but by one, 2 00 a. M. , even points as far north as the poconos that warm air continues to surge in and it looks like everything changeovers to rain. Association the big issue would be this evening and maybe in through the early overnight hours from about pottstown and quakertown north with some light freezing rain about a tenth of an inch of ice and maybe a half inch to inch of snow mixed in up in these areas. Again, it all changes over to rain later in the overnight hours. Then tomorrow morning your roads might be a little wet. By 6 00 a. M. , most of our passing rain is off the coast but perhaps a little wet for the beginning of the morning rush hour. Your sevenday from accuweather, today we are looking at a high of 38 but not until later tonight. And then later this evening youve got that freezing rain and snow chance before a changeover to rain. Mostly cloudy and milder on wednesday, some early rain possible. It should ends quickly but the big story tomorrow will be an improved temperature of 51 in the afternoon. The pick of the week, however, is thursday. Clouds and sun, very mild. It will be a bit breezy but a high of 60. Isnt that nice . Then friday a couple of showers around, more clouds build back in, a high of 53 which that sounds good except i think temperatures will dip during the afternoon and then brisk and cold with a late rain or wintry mix event on saturday into sunday morning. We will deal. Thank you david. 5 42. All new on action news a michigan man gets a parking ticket even though he was parked in his own drive way. Hear about the unusual ordinance next. Not so funny.
