In addition to the president ial race well have a lot of local Election Results coming up. But first up we know you wants to find out what will the weather be like and how is my commute. Lets go over to dave murphy and karen rogers. Good morning. As expected we have some showers in play. Most of these are out to the west of philadelphia but getting a lot closer. Most of Chester County now picking up at least some light to moderate rain. Farther to the west theres some darker shades of green here and there and even a little yellow. Allentown also covered with this and you can expect wet roads in berks county and just in the Northern Tier of Montgomery County. This first bands moving west to east and it looks like most of the area will be at least somewhat wet before the end of the rush hour. Were also looking at a lot of clouds today and after this first band comes through some additional rain is possible. Dont really expect this to wrap up until sometime later this evening. 52 degrees in philadelphia currently. 48 in allentown, 47 in that reading, line in wilmington, 50 in trenton, line in millville and 58 this morning in cape may. And as we roll through the day expect lots of clouds and at times damp conditions. 50 by 7 oclock, by 10 00, 53 and by noon 55 degrees with that high of 58 degrees at 3 oclock and then were all the way back down to 48 by 6 oclock. Again showers pretty much in play all the way into this evening. We are looking at the return of a lot of sunshine tomorrow but it will still be cool and rather breezy. Ill have details on that in the accuweather 7day forecast. Karen, that road still looks dry. Still looks dry. I95, this is right here at cottman and we expect those showers to be moving in a little bit but right now you see that southbound traffic headed towards center city. If youre coming in from northeast philadelphia, about to hop on i95, so far so good. Just a few people out there doing that already. Vine street expressway no overnight construction. All lanes opened. Looking good right now on the vine. Also dry right here in center city. On the boulevard, looking here on the roosevelt boulevard extension at ridge avenue thats your southbound traffic head towards the schuylkill. We had some construction that was blocking two lanes. Watch for police on the scene. The republicans have retained their house and Senate Majority in congress. The toomeymcginty race in pennsylvania played a key role in that result. Lets take a look at the results made official early this morning. It was close and tight a good deal of the night. Incumbent republican pat toomey edged out Katie Mcginty. Could not avoid those ads every single commercial break. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is live in center city with what the candidates had to say overnight. Annie. Reporter matt, thats right, those ads are now over. Well, this is a really tight race down to the very last minutes with republican senator pat toomey winning by just two Percentage Points over Katie Mcginty. Its also the most expensive u. S. Senate race in history. Well, the race is another one that went into the early morning. Senator toomey took the stage around 1 40 this morning after receiving the call from mcginty. Candidates spent 160 million on this race, negative and positive ads filled air waves and the internet. Senate incumbent toomey had a huge amount of support from turnout in rural areas. He kept his distance from donald trump throughout the campaign. However did vote for him. This will be the senators second term. Now Katie Mcginty who held a number of high profile jobs in washington and harrisburg fought a tough campaign and early this morning congratulated toomey. Let me just tell you the truth about my record and my approach to government its really pretty simple. I dont think the government should be wasting as much money as it wastes, i dont think it should be spending as much of your money as it spends, i dont think taxes should be as high as they are. I dont think the federal government [cheers and applause] i dont think the federal government should be stifling our economy by overregulating businesses. I believe that even with disappointment our greatest days are still ahead. Now, even though were not able to continue the exact journey that we thought we might be on, look, were not going to stop fighting for the issues that we care about. Reporter and toomeys narrow win was followed by a number of republican wins in battleground states across the country. For now reporting live on the Art Museum Steps Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Back to you. Thanks annie. A congressional candidate in delaware made history. Her name is lisa blunt rochester. Shes become the first africanamerican and first woman elected to represent delaware in congress. She knocked offer republican hans riegle. Shes at states former labor secretary but otherwise is pretty new to politics. She talked to us about being a pioneer in the diamond state. Its just about doing the work, you know. I dont think i think last people who maybe did make history they didnt do it by themselves. It was a lot of other people. She succeeds fellow Democrat John carney who won his race for governor. 5 37 now. Turning to the accuweather forecast, as we ingest all of this political news coming in. Yeah.
