Were looking live at i95 at broad street. The ramp from i95 northbound to broad street is closed all week for the dnc but right now the ramp from i95 southbound to broad street is opened for your morning rush but you have to go south to the navy yard opened for people who work down there in the navy yard but of course part of South Broad Street is blocked so you have to watch for. That looking at the big closures that weve been talking about the Police Checkpoints its causing the restrictions of any vehicles over 5 tons. You cant travel on i95 and thats between the vine and the schuylkill so you want to watch for that on i95. Its creating huge delays on i95 as you come southbound towards the check point and northbound towards the checkpoint in Delaware County so well watch for notice delays to develop in a few hours. Right now were looking at this vehicle fire. Its still out here right now in Plymouth Meeting ridge pike and industrial way. Crews are on the scene with there. Now lets head over to matt live did the dnc. Philadelphia played host to another historic moment. It happened right here at the Wells Fargo Center last night as the Democratic Party officially nominated a woman, Hillary Clinton to run for president. Hillary clinton made a surprise appearance at the well last night. The nominee delivered a live video message to the delegates. She thanked them for helping her make history and paving the way for future generations. If there are any little girls out there who stayed up late to watch, let me just say i may become the first woman president but one of you is next. The nominee also sent out this simple tweet. A picture of her waving to the crowd with the word history, period. Bernie sanders who has been gracious in his support for clinton despite this weeks controversies with the way the party treated his candidacy was the one who put her over the top during the roll call of states. Former president bill clinton played the part of political spouse and touted his wifes more than 40 years of Public Service calling it a labor of love that will benefit everyone. Some people say, well, we need a change. Shes been around a long time. She sure has. And she sure has been worth every single year she put into making peoples lives better. [cheers and applause] the former president also said his wife gained praise from both republicans and democrats during ler tenure as the senator her tenure as senator from new york and secretary of state. Infuriated Bernie Sanders delegates walked out when bernie made his announcement to switch his delegates to clinton. Supporters swarmed a media tent similar to the one were in right now chanting the world ising. Others had their mouths taped shut and some saying this slapped your land. Now thats just one of the many protests in support of Bernie Sanders that weve seen around the city of philadelphia. There have been at least two or three a day since sunday and theyve really drawn largest crowds out of all the demonstrations weve seen. Other organizations have also taken to the streets of philadelphia trying to take advantage of the spotlight the dnc has brought to the city. Take a listen. Bern flee made hi announcement to switch his delegates to hillary the anger erupted. We know fact from wiki leak emails that the dnc had a clear consistent plan to disrupt bernie at every point of the way. Reporter and yesterday was a very busy day for the secret service as well. We got word that around 8 30 in the evening, four people tried to jump a fence and get into secret service zone. They were not able to get into wells fargo, though. They were charged and taken to a detention center. Their First Court Appearance will be in a few hours. Quite a lot going on. Because in a very true way they really established isis because of weakness. And this morning trump will campaign in florida before heading here to pennsylvania. Now the hot ticket last night in philadelphia was after the convention was to a party at Reading Terminal market. As we go in tighter you can see the movement its all coming in from the west and it has spread through areas around wilmington down through southern New Castle County and now across the Delaware River and the upper bay into cumberland and salem counties and a couple of these little break away bits and pieces of precipitation are east into Gloucester County. The stuff down in dover doesnt look that was bad. Cape play has seen a real light sprinkle. Ill point out to you however that farther south there is a heavier cell thats opened up around easton on the Eastern Shore of maryland and cambridge, really pretty towns down here by the way if you ever get a chance to drive doyne that way, but if youre in Bethany Beach or llewes delaware looks like you might be in line for a heavier downpour, a brief one anyway this morning and again leaving you with a wide view the northern suburbs appear to be dry. Philadelphia may or play not pick up a little sprinkle. Lets get you outside. We have cloud cover across most of the region especially the southern twothirds and theres Center City Philadelphia and you can see that it is rather gray upstairs even though the rain is down south. 78 degrees is your current temperature. The dewpoint is down in the mid 60s just moderately humid this morning. The farther south you go through the region the stickier it is. Winds out of the eastnortheast at 6 Miles Per Hour fairly light. Future tracker6 shows that you between now and maybe eight or 9 oclock most of that Early Morning rain is done and then by 12 oclock theres the chance of the reemergence of another shower or thunderstorm. Again we expect most of this to be in south jersey and delaware probably missing philadelphia. We cant totally rule out the city getting something. By 3 oclock, again, it looks like its to the south and east and by 6 oclock, there may be some additional showers or a thunderstorm down south. Not necessarily expecting Severe Weather today but in those southern areas where the humidity is higher you could get some drenching downpours and of course its all done by seven or 8 oclock. Were also looking at a hot one this afternoon. By noon, 88. But by 3 oclock 91 degrees and if we get 90 or better it will continue the heat wave for yet another day. Then in south jersey and delaware there is that chance of a spotty shower or thunderstorm. And then hot and more humid again on thursday. Looks like any thunderstorm activity holds off until at least the evening and maybe even later at night. A high of 93 and humid though so thats another one for cool drinks and then friday finally it looks like the heat wave is over. A high of only 85 but it will be somewhat humid and there will be some spotty showers or thunderstorms. For the coming weekend looks like a pair of 86degree lies on saturday and sunday and a spotty storm is possible both of those afternoons or evenings but i dont think the weekend is a washout by any means. And this has been creating delays really around the clock but certainly during the height of the morning rush as youre heading northbound. Right now the delays arent too bad. Its pretty light volume out there so not a problem. A vehicle fire in the process of clearing on ridge pike and industrial way. Chester county on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound between malvern anddot lane blocked with construction crews on the scene. And our commuter traffic report on the waze app we found jeep guy up and about and talking about an object in the road in king of prussia on 202 so watch for that one. Theyre south and west of philadelphia but the roads are getting a little bit wet here in wilmington and now on the new jersey turnpike on route 40 in elmer even on route 55 south of glassboro, route 49 between salem and millville as well so watch for these showers moving into new jersey. A group a of africanamerican mothers who lost their children to violence issued a plea for change at the dnc last night. Action News Reporter can ring scott is lie on the floor with more on that. Katherine. Reporter matt, it wasnt an emotional evening here last night. Those mothers stood on the stage speaking about the anguish of losing their children. They believe Hillary Clinton is the best candidate to promote change. United in their grief, the mothers of the movement took the stage at the Democratic NationalConvention Last night. These women say their children among them sandra bland, Trayvon Martin and michael brown, died as a result of gun violence or the use of excessive force. They are casting their votes for Hillary Clinton in november saying she cares about racial injustice. Hillary clinton isnt afraid to say that black lives matter. Reporter from the floor of the Wells Fargo CenterParty Delegates yelled black lives matter as a show of support before the mothers took the stage former attorney general eric holder spoke praising law enforcement. The Pittsburgh Police chief says its time to repair relationships. Ironically crime rates have been falling for decades but Research Shows the public trust is eroding in far too many places. Reporter and while clinton was praised on the stage some of the protestors who marched on broad street yesterday criticized her for not speaking more forcefully about the issues surrounding police brutality. New this morning three people were wounded dark late night shooting in south philadelphia. Gunfire erupted near fifth and moore streets shortly before 11 00 last night. All three victims are now in stable condition. Its not clear yet what led to that gun play. Police have not yet made any arrests. And new this morning, a driver plowed into a pedestrian with deadly force in south jersey. This happened on route 73 just east of route 38 in maple shade at 9 30 last night. The driver did stop their car. Investigators have not identified the victim and theres no word yet on if the driver will face charges. 5 49. If youre just waking up with us, at least two people were hurt after a car slammed into a restaurant in south philadelphia. This happened just before 9 p. M. At pearl of east restaurant in the 2000 block of west oregon avenue. This morning there is still no word on what caused that driver to lose control. Its 5 49. Coming up the food fight between delegates that got a little messy but it was a lot of fun. Hillary clintons rival Bernie Sanders fought back tears as his brother cast his vote for the democratic nominee. New york congresswoman Carol Maloney and philadelphias Brendan Boyle held a friendly show down between their respective cities and their culinary staples yesterday. It was new york pizza versus pretzels. Roast pork sandwiches versus pass drama. New york cheesecake versus philly cheesesteak. Cheesecake beat out philly cheesesteak.
