As we get into the afternoon though things do improve. 40 degrees by 9 oclock and still 47 by 11 oclock but 53 by 1 00 and by 3 00, 58. Well get a high of about 60 degrees probably around 3 30 or 4 oclock this afternoon. Sunshine not as windy as yesterday. Temperature a little bit better but obviously a cold start. Allergy sufferers still have this to deal with too, high range tree pollen for today, tomorrow probably friday although it does ease back either friday or saturday and thats because of some rain on the way. A shooting in West Philadelphia has a 14yearold fighting for his life and police arent even sure if that bullet was intended for him. Action News ReporterKatherine Scott is live outside of police headquarters. Shes got the latest on the story. Good morning, katherine. Reporter good morning, tam. And were told that the 14yearold boy was in surgery overnight and he remains in extremely Critical Condition at the hospital this morning as he is trying to recover, police are still trying to determine what exactly happened in West Philadelphia last night. That were out gathering evidence. They say at least eight shots were fired from a semiautomatic weapon around 9 30 last evening. Police say they responded to shots fired on the 200 block of north simpson street but the victim, a 14yearold boy, was found around 60th and vine. How he got there remains under investigation. He was shot once in his back. He was taken to penn Presbyterian Hospital in very Critical Condition. And investigators are still trying to determine what happened. Right now we do not have a motive for the shooting. We dont have a description of a shooter or shooters. Were not even certain at this time if this 14yearold victim was the intended target or if he was hit with a stray bullet. Reporter southwest detectives were out there processing the soon. That were takin scene. They were taking a look at Surveillance Footage to see if it can can help in this case. New this morning a 26yearold man is in surgery after taking three bullets to the head, chest and arm. Philadelphia Police Believe he was shot inside his own home. They found evidence in the living room after following a trail of blood from the 800 block of cecil street in cobbs creek late last night. Someone dropped off the victim at the hospital. Hes in Critical Condition. Police still dont know who pulled that trigger or why. Also new, the search for the fire bug who torched a cobbs creek residence front porch. The action cam was along south 60th street as firefighters surveyed the damage to the house. A woman called 911 just after midnight. She saw flames on her porch and feared she would be trapped inside. Crews quickly put out the fire and the woman escaped unharmed. Three victims from another philadelphia fire scene were treated and released from there hospital overnight. Chopper6 was over the 1100 block of napfle street in the burholme section last night. Flames were shooting from the roof of the two story home. The fire is now under control. The cause has not yet been determined. Septa police have now identified five children seen behaving badly in a viral video. Officials circulated the march 24th recording from the market frankford line in an effort to try to get the families of the children help. The Young Children could be heard cursing and seen hitting a passenger on the train. A customer and a clerk fought off a would be robber at a new york gas station. 20yearold rob phelps was talking with the store manager at a citgo station in schenectady early sunday when a man way knife grabbed him from behind and demanded money. Phelps said he made a split second decision to fight back. Holding it like this and the tip of the knife was just right between my eyes and at that moment it was so quick, it was like if i dont do anything im going to die. Phelps and the manager pushed man out the door and called police. They are still searching for that attacker. The san tan dare arena is beefing up security. The move comes at a time when public venues are stepping up security efforts to thwart possible terrorism or other attacks.
