The action cam was on the scene in the 2600 block of north eighth street. Police say two men were hit by gunfire around 2 00 a. M. One victim died at the scene, the other is in Critical Condition. Witnesses tell police they saw people running away toward west lehigh avenue but its still unclear who shot the men or why. Detectives are focusing their investigation around a car parked near the scene. This is also new. Two Philadelphia Police officers have been injured in a crash. Their vehicle hit a tree in southwest philadelphia at bartram avenue and holstein causing heavy front end damage. One officer suffered a broken leg. Doctors treated the other officer for minor injuries. Police blame a mechanical failure for the crash. It is now 5 32 and this morning a threeyearold boy is fighting for his life in the hospital. He was hit by a car but what happened next had some neighbors rushing to help the driver who hit him. I just seen a little boy flying up going underneath the car. Reporter neighbors tried to console each other after watching the unthinkable happen a little boy darted out between two cars on 13th and wagner. He was struck by the vehicle and knocked under the suv. Reporter the driver of the gray mazda hatchback stopped to check on the boy. But was then assaulted by a group of men. In this case this guy, it was an accident, he did the right thing, he stopped but was assaulted by an unknown persons. Reporter some neighbors came to the remorseful mans rescue and placed him in their vehicle until police arrived. He was kind of shooken up. He was. He was really shooken up. He was scared. I guess, you know, the little boy was real little. He was like i didnt really see him. Im sorry. Reporter and witnesses told action news that they really believe that accident was unavoidable, that that little boy just started into the street. Neighbors have identified him as donnell banks. Chopper six was over the scene on penn street in philadelphias frankford section last night. Police say the driver of an suv was killed after rear ending the route 75 trolley bus. A passenger in the suv is in Critical Condition. 19 people on the bus including the driver suffered minor injuries. And an attempted traffic stop on the schuylkill expressway ended with a chase and a crash. The suspects get away ended when his car hit a pole at 34th and mantua last night. Police say the driver then got out and punched a trooper. The trooper then tased and arrested him. The suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The passenger in the car took off from the crash site and has not been captured. Police are searching for a 16yearold reportedly connected to a murder in coatesville this past weekend. Its the citys first homicide in nearly three years. Four other men ranging from 17 to 21 are already in custody. Police say the suspects decided to rob another group of men. The victims were outside a home in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue when the suspects approached them and began to pat them down for valuables. Police say Chris Mansfield punched one of the victims in the head while dajon rowe allegedly shot two men. One of them was killed. New this morning, a Montgomery County hospital has settled with the federal government for allegedly turning away an hiv positive patient. Federal prosecutors claim Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton refused the patient without evaluation or treatment because she is hiv positive. She was denied bariatric surgery. The hospital has agreed to pay the woman 20,000 and pay the government a 5,000 civil penalty. Mercy has also agreed to implement a nondiscrimination policy. President obama has signed a disaster declaration for the areas of South Carolina hit the hardest by the historic rains. Residents wiped out or displaced by the deadly flooding will receive money for things like temporary housing. Drinking water has been contaminated for tens of thousands of people.
