I do think that once we get past the first several hours of the morning the low clouds start to break up and by this afternoon were expecting partly sunny skies and pretty nice conditions. A bit cool this morning too. 58 degrees in philadelphia. 54 in allentown. 56 in reading. 59 in wilmington. 53 in trenton and 60 degrees in cape may. As we roll through the day, 57 and cool by 7 oclock. And still a fair amount of clouds by 10 oclock. 60 degrees there. But as we roll through the rest of the day we are expecting that transition to partly sunny skies and well wind up with a high of 71 degrees here at 3 oclock this afternoon. So, not a bad afternoon after a somewhat cool cloudy start. Hurricane matthew is down to a category three as it continues to move away from cuba and get set to push into the bahamas later today. But it is expected to restrengthen to a category four by the time it gets out of this sort of bottleneck area and gets up into the bahamas. There is a big change though in the long range track that could spell a much better story for us, an updated track from the National Hurricane center came in about 10 minutes ago. Ill have it for you in just six minutes karen. Everybody anxious to see that. Lets check outside. Its that time of the morning our Early Morning construction is starting to clear. Were looking live at i95 at cottman. Southbound traffic moving fine. South of her we had a roving work crew blocking lanes near bridge street. Thats gone. Things are moving better on 95. Vine street expressway has reopened in both directions between the schuylkill and broad street. Crews will be back again tonight at 11 oclock and shut the vine down so it will be back later on. Franconia township we have this accident out here on godshall road at indian creek road. We have a problem from an earlier accident. A downed pole that is still causing an issue in Jackson Township in ocean county. Aldrich road eastbound is blocked near new prospect road. You have to scoot around that one at this early hour way downed pole. Matt and tam. Thank you karen. We begin here with breaking news. A fire killed two people in there bustleton connection of of section of philadelphia overnight. Katherine scott is live near where the fire broke out. Katherine. Reporter matt firefighters pulled two people from this home. They administered cpr but those two people did not survive. This was a fast moving fire and you can see the damage it did to this home. You can see that the Fire Department remains on the scene here this morning. Theres debris, the broken glass and windows holes in the roof and walls. Firefighters arrived shortly before midnight on the 9800 block of bridle road in bustleton. Firefighters called this an aggressive interior fire fight. 40 fire personnel and 11 apparatus were on the scene. Firefighters took out two people. One was found in the foyer the other in the living room. Again they administered cpr but they he could not he revive them and they died on the scene. This took 35 minutes to bring the fire under control. Firefighters did not hear any smoke alarms when 93 arrived. Whether there were any working detectors remains under investigation. The flames burned the gas meter off the wall and there was a minor gas leak and emergency evacuation but that gas leak is plugged up now. Neighbors came run willing running when they saw the smoke and flames. My husband woke me up. I opened up the window and right across the street i seen the flames higher than the trees. I ran out. My neighbor was screaming. Running up to the door bang on the door trying to she said that the front of the door was hot. Reporter and back here live you can see whats left of this home after that massive fire. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from extending to their homes next door. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor injury. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Were live in bustleton, Katherine Scott channel6 action news. Katherine thank you for that. And at least 11 deaths have been blamed on Hurricane Matthew already. Five of them in haiti. The latest track has the storm continuing its path towards the east coast with a possible impact on our area this weekend. Residents are stocking up on everything from groceries and water to fuel and cash. The governor of North Carolina declared a state of emergency for more than half of the counties in the state. And medical evacuations are already under way in south carolina. Coastal evacuations begin today. Now Hurricane Matthews track still remains uncertain but the storm is already heavy on the minds of many people at the jersey shore. In brigantine barriers up to prevent the ocean from spilling over the pluck heads. Emergency management officials in ocean city say they are keeping a close eye on the storm. Nelson and kay baker have lived in ocean city for 50 years and they say theyve seen a lot of storms and typically they he stay home to ride it out. We fool heartedly sat out about four hurricanes in ocean city and were not decided what were going to do on this one but its a good chance well stay. Happening today, new jersey lawmakers are set to vote on a bill that would raise the states gas tax. Democratic leaders and republican governor Chris Christie agreed to raise it by 23 cents a gallon to pay for road bridge and transit work. New jerseys current gas tax at 14 cents is the second he lowest in the nation. The legislation to raise the tax to 37 cents and bring it above the national average. But that would still be lower than neighboring pennsylvania and delaware. Also from our new jersey news room some of the people who were injured in that hoboken train crash are plan ning to sue new Jersey Transit. They filed intend to sue claims. Unless new Jersey Transit is going to come forward with some kind of evidence that shows that any of the passengers did anything to cause this accident, theyre on the hook for it. The ntsb says the second event recorder and lead car video recorder have been recovered. One woman was killed in the crash back on thursday. More than 100 people were hurt. The engineer has told investigators he does not remember the collision into the hoboken station. All right. So dave murphy people have two sets of questions. Any low lying cloud cover should break up by about say nine or 10 oclock and a little bit of a light breeze today but really pleasant overall. Overnight tonight mainly clear with the possibility again of some overnight patchy fog developing, 52 is the overnight low with winds dying down. On to matthew we go. This is a category three hurricane. It has fallen down in strength a little bit. It is expected to grow back into a category four as it pushes through the bahamas particularly through thursday afternoon and into thursday night. Then here comes the change. It still looks like its going to hug the coast of florida and georgia as a category two maybe weakening a little bit. This would be saturday night this would occur. Now the latest track doesnt even make landfall down in the eastern southeastern united states. And this is the first track thats come out in the last several days from the National Hurricane center that actually takes the cone of uncertainty away from our area. So this is trend weve been seeing since last night with the track moving farther away from us and now it looks like its going get shoved out to sea. The reason is that theres a really deep trough that is projected to develop in the models over us and this will block the progression of this storm. In this scenario we would be scott free. Spaghetti plot models havent been upgraded but since last night you can see the idea was to keep this away from us. This is still more than three days away and there could be another change but right now the trend is certainly in our favor. We also have Tropical Storm nicole that formed late yesterday. This one is going to get blocked by matthew for awhile but eventually try and hook back toward the westnorthwest perhaps heading toward bermuda. Well keep our eyes on nicole.
