Now the search is on for those responsible. But first up lets head over to dave murphy. Hes talking about a steamy maybe stormy kind of day and karen rogers has the latest on your traffic including mass transit. Good morning. Humidity levels are higher this morning than they were yesterday and we also have a little cluster of heavy rain showers pushing toward the east. Not seeing any lightning from this just yet but salem just about ready to get this and alloway about 19 minutes past 5 oclock. Takes about a half hour for it to go the lengths of that arrow so still a ways away from route 55 in case thats one of the areas you like to drive everybody else is dry but it is muggy out there and of course out to the west theres more instability as a cold front gets closer to us well fire up some more afternoon and perhaps evening drenching thunderstorms. 71 degrees currently in philadelphia. Warmer this morning than yesterday. 73 degrees in allentown. 73 in wilmington. Still 69 in millville and 73 in cape may. When you check out the dewpoints, these were just popping up into the low to mid 60s yesterday. Now weve got some spots in the upper 60s and that would include philadelphia and a couple of 70s on your dewpoint map down to the south. Remember anything over 60 is slightly humid but once you get over 65 its down right muggy and oppressive once you start seeing those 70degree numbers on the dewpoint chart. Heres how its going to go today. 8 oclock, 72, a bit muggy. 10 oclock 79 and then this afternoon we spend it in the 80s. 83 degrees by noon. And your high today is going to be that 87degree reading at 3 oclock. Again, through the afternoon some spotty and drenching thunderstorms are possible. And over the next couple of days we expect excessive heat. Starting tomorrow afternoon going all the way into friday evening, another excessive heat watch is in effect. This will probably become a warning as we get closer to tomorrow. Heat index values thursday and friday afternoon karen could top 100 degrees maybe even going to around 104 so a couple of days of that coming up. Ill detail all of this again in the seven at any. What would make that feel better other than standing on a crowded train. Regional rails you want to watch for that today. We have new schedules that went into effect on monday after septa leased Additional Trains to try to compensate for the lack of 13,000 seats. Were now down to about 11,000 seats. Yesterday between 7 oclock and 8 oclock in the morning we saw a handful of issues with overcrowded trains. That just were bypassing stations. And beyond that it seemed to be more of an issue of delays that we saw so you want to expect that today. If you can head out early that always helps you with the problems with the regional rails and expect between 7 oclock and 8 oclock to be the roughest time period. As we look live on the vine street expressway westbound traffic you can see thats reopened. Looks like were starting to see a few cars come eastbound as they continue to open the ramps from the schuylkill to the vine and theyll be opening the vine completely eastbound any minute now. 422 westbound the onramp from the schuylkill we do still have that accident blocking the shoulder and david has been talking about those storms that are moving from delaware into southern new jersey so you want to watch for 295, route 40 to be getting wet currently so be careful of that when youre headed out tam. You want to get in it early. Storm tracker6 live double scan right now shows that you say we are mainly dry across the region but we have that cluster of showers that opened up around New Castle County delaware and one of those showers is headed in the direction of our way and fenwick and cohansey between now and 5 30, this is slowly inching toward the east. Ill go ahead and start this up for you and then maybe well track a couple more communities. It shouldnt last real long. But it is producing a fairly decent downpour and you can expect it to arrive and then probably take about 15 minutes for the worst of it to get past us. Bridgeton 5 29, deerfield 5 33 and farther to the north theres also a little batch of this that is apparently heading toward fenwick and then woodstown by about 5 37 so its these areas of salem and Cumberland County that we are currently tracking and theres another little cell behind these that might also blossom into a downpour a little bit later on. Looks like all thats going to stay down in south jersey and miss southeastern pennsylvania. Stepping outside we now have cloudy skies of course and muggy conditions over center city philadelphia. And temperatures right now across the region are definitely warmer than yesterday and also making it feel a little bit muggy. 73 degrees in allentown, 74 in reading currently, 71 in philadelphia, 69 in millville and 73 in cape may. More humid this morning than it was yesterday. Future tracker6 shows you that through most of the morning were dry but late in the morning pushing toward lunchtime there could be the redevelopment of some more showers and thunderstorms. These are kind of off and on and spotty but where they hit they could produce drenching downpours in this humid air mass and by the time we get up to 10 oclock, the sun is down, convective instability is beginning to ease back and well probably see less and less of that. Up in the Lehigh Valley today, warm, humid, afternoon norms that could produce brief gusty winds, 87 degrees is the high. And of course lots of lightning and downpours, too. Down the shore youre going for highs in the mid 80s and this is probably mainly dry day although the farther south you go along these beaches the more july to look out for that thunderstorm later on. 87 is your i had no idea, warm and humihigh inphiladelphia. Excessive heat warnings likely to be posted. We already have the watch. 87 trees is todays high, warm and sticky. You have that thunderstorm chance this afternoon. Tomorrow its going to feel like its 100 or worse. A high of 94 but excessive heat and that excessive heat watch in effect starting tomorrow afternoon and not ending until friday evening. Friday is also going to be oppressive with a high of 95 and again higher heat index values. Thunderstorms today and tomorrow could be drenching and a little bit strong. Then we get into friday and saturday and were probably dry although even saturday looks kind of muggy with that high of 89. And then theres a feature down to the south on sunday that might pop a couple of showers or thunderstorms at times. Otherwise 91 degrees moderately humid on sunday and staying kind of sticky on monday and tuesday. Not oppressive heat and humidity then but still humid. Thanks, david.
