Good morning. Weve got a lot going on in the weather youre right over the next 24 hours. Lets take a look at the National Weather service has already posted this winter storm warning in effect for just about the entire region and this starts later on tonight and lasts into tomorrow. And thats for accumulating snow. But i want to show you theres also a winter storm watch in effect for this area. This is the area you see in blue on Storm Tracker 6 live double scan. With double scan we can tell you exactly where youre still dealing with the freezing rain that we had yesterday. Temperatures still around freezing in the northwest. This is a problem north of reading on 222 nearly a town, pottstown, north on route 100 youre dealing with it there. Allentown youre getting that freezing rain and quakertown so be careful as youre traveling in easton and areas to the northwest its still that freezing rain. The rest of us are just dealing with some rain at times right here as you can see on Storm Tracker 6 live 3d. So were dealing with some rain at times but you see its a big system. Its going to change over to snow later on tonight and thats the problem. Lets look at the temperatures right now where you are hovering right around that freezing mark in martins creek, 33 pottstown but still could be ice pellets mixing in. 35 in center city so it will be just rain right there. 35 in browns mills. Already 40 in parts of south jersey and dover delaware so thats that sign that warmer air is coming as that warm front lifts through weve got some fog to deal with. Half a mile visibility in Atlantic City and were looking at 1. 5mile visibility in reading about 5 miles at Philadelphia International airport. So, you have the reduced visibility as youre heading out. Hard to see any of those slick spots but it is milder today. Were going to see rain at times on and off, 42 for your high. The big problem comes tonight when that rain changes to snow. Details on that and how much well get coming in the accuweather forecast, matt. So some more rough commutes on our doorstep for sure. Good morning karen rogers. I wish i could tell you things are only wet this morning but as karen just said as you get north in berks county, lehigh county, upper bucks county, there is still some frozen precipitation falling and even in spots where that frozen precipitation is not falling like here in northern Montgomery County you still have some slush left over on the roadway. This is 309 at the five points intersection. The main travel lanes are mostly wet but as you go to make turns and such youre going the find some of that slush and you could go sliding. We have a truck thats spinning its wheelings just off 309 along swartley road right by 309 Office Furniture in hilltown bucks county this morning. Icy condition there is causing that truck not to be able to gain traction. Were watching a new crash in upper dublin along dresher town road near camp hill road. Still have the house fire in lower moreland along manor road at locust drive. But on the big picture speeds so far look okay along the schuylkill expressway, roosevelt boulevard and i95. And camera time again here in south jersey. This is the 42 freeway at creek road. Here on 42 its mostly just wet and those northbound headlights are moving along at an okay pace headed up towards 295 and the walt whitman bridge but again wet conditions possibly slippery conditions mean a longer than normal morning commute on this wednesday. Tam. Okay, thank you, matt. So it looks like umbrellas today snow boots tomorrow. Action News ReporterAnnie Mccormick is in northeast philadelphia. Shes got more on whats going on outside. Good morning annie. Reporter good morning, tam. Taking a look right now on the sidewalk, this is an untreated area. It is slippery. This is what youre going wake up to. Also this coating on the grassy areas, thats what youll see when you when youre leaving your house possibly walking to the bus stop. This video is from last night. It began yesterday afternoon started with slow, went to sleet, then freezing rain. Caused some problems on major roadways but penndot says that they have been prepared. They called this a spreading operation last night where they were spreading salt everywhere. Well, that worked because this morning were seeing much different conditions on major highways. A loot of the speed restrictions that they had yesterday have since been lifted on 76, 476 all of those major roads. Take a look back out here live on the roosevelt boulevard. You can see things are moving pretty well. Its still slick conditions. So, you got to be careful in some parts but these warmer temperatures are making this bearable. So, a lot of what you saw overnight youre really just going to see on those untreated areas these slick conditions right now arent freezing in every area. However, you always have to be careful. There still could be black ice in some areas. Reporting live along the boulevard Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Winter may be winding down but spring seems like such a long way off. The action cam was in center city where there were many nance of yesterdays winter storm. Slush and ice covered some streets and sidewalks around the 1300 block of south street. And the Action News Morning Team will be getting an early start tomorrow to help you keep updated on the storm. Get your accuweather updates and more starting tomorrow morning at 4 00 a. M. The Justice Department has released stunning new findings about the Ferguson Police department. They will officially be released today and will cite a troubling pattern of behavior by law enforcers in the missouri city. Action News Reporter erin ohearn is at the big board with more on this story. Erin in. Matt, obviously this investigation was prompted after unarmed teenager Michael Brown was gunned down by a Ferguson Police officer last summer. This scathing report finds that Police Routinely engaged in conduct that violates the constitution and federal law. We have seen protesters in the streets. The Justice Department is now directly accusing officers in ferguson of racially biased policing. The Justice Department went through 35,000 pages of police records. They found in while black residents make up 67 percent of the city, they make up 93 percent of all arrests and 88 percent of cases where police used force. Black drivers were twice as likely to be searched during police stops. This was the message we heard over and over during protests prompted by browns death in august. And while fergusons police chief has admitted things could be better Darren Wilson the officer who shot brown told abc news race has nothing to do with how he handled the confrontation with brown. If Michael Brown were white, this would have gone down exactly the same way . Yes. No question. No question. However, some of what investigators found was beyond sensitivity courses and emails from a city official in 2008 saying that president obama would not be president for very long because what black man holds what black main holds a steady job for four years end of quote. A lot of disturbing revelations certainly in this report, matt. Okay, thank you erin. Sources confirm to action news that the eagles are trading running back lesean mccoy to the buffalo bills. An nfl source says the eagles will get linebacker kiko alonzo in return. The eagles themselves arent saying anything. The team has announced it is cutting starting cornerback Cary Williams and will release linebacker trent cole in the coming days. Well have a full report on the lesean mccoy trade coming up at 5 30 this morning. Time to turn to karen rogers. Are you a busy lady this morning, first with the rain and then with the coming snow. Theres a lot happening and its busy for people trying to commute in it. Its always tricky commuting in bad weather. Lets run it down for you. Storm tracker 6 live double scan looking around the region right now were seeing mostly rain on and off just as we told you we would especially in south jersey and near the city but i want to go in a little bit tighter right now and look at some of the areas that are getting hit with still a freezing rain and thats the concern. So, look at the areas of blue nearly a town and quakertown, easton pottsville. If youre driving around even near doylestown now a little touch it right there. Just be careful as youre heading out because in those areas in particular with that temperature around the freezing mark its still quite slick in that area. Lets go on outside right now and see what it looks like and sky 6 looking live in hd, you kind of get the sense from this shot that there is a little bit of fog here. Weve got about 5mile visibility at Philadelphia International airport. Its more of an issue in some of our other areas like Atlantic City, a half mile visibility so be careful there. The temperature in the city itself is 35 degrees. The dewpoint 33. Moisture obviously way up there. In the its a fire. Winds out of the westsouthwest at 10 and the barometric pressure is falling. Satellite6 and actiony action radar showing the first part of the system moved out when we got that freezing rain and ice yesterday. Now weve got the rain through most of the region. You just have that freezing rain still in areas to the northwest. But we can see theres a lot more moisture where this came from and thats the problem. You can almost make out right here in pittsburgh how its a little bit of snow in area. Thats whats going happen to us. This rain changes over to snow. We look at 8 30 in the morning on future tracker and we have been calling it rain at times and thats a good description. Its not everywhere. Its kind of hit and miss. Its goy going to be a damp and dreary day. The temperature profile even in the Morning Hours were already climbing well above freezing so youll get melting considered. I want to show you this look at 10 30. Its not raining the whole advertisement it will be cloudy on and off. The trouble is late tonight after about 11 oclock or so we start to see that change over to snow and we watch that fill in as the colder air moves in and we get snowfall tonight and into tomorrow. And you saw on that model thats the rpm didnt look like a lot of snow but as we look at all the models were dealing with you get a sense of why. The rpm saying 1. 7 and were seeing the nam say 9. 6 so depends on which model youre looking at what do we anticipate from that. Well show in you a second. Today from rain about a quarter of an inch to threequarters of an inch. Late tonight it changes to snow and at times well see heavy snow through the first half of thursday so its wednesday night into thursday morning ending thursday afternoon. Overall we expect four to 8inches of snow n some areas were going to get sleet mixing in at times and that will start to cut those numbers down to about four the farther north and west you go youll get a little less. In the Lehigh Valley about two to 4inches of snow north of reading and mount pocono. Thats what to watch for over the next 24 hours. Lets look at your exclusive accuweather seven day. Rain at times today. 42 degrees for your high so although we have that freezing rain to the northwest, the roads are just going to be wet later on today. And then overnight tonight into tomorrow we get in snowstorm. The snow will be heavy at times. Its colder with an early high of 30 and temperatures falling. Look at the overnight, 12. Well have some slick spots friday morning and bitter cold. A high of just 28. And then we look at kind of a dry decent trend even though the temperatures arent great. Saturday not as harsh and 40. As the union play. Sunday partly sunny skies and 44. Still below average but well take it. Monday clouds and sun 44. And tuesday continuing that nice stretch, sunny and rather nice with 46 degrees for your high. So, its today and tomorrow that are the tricky times to travel. Most especially late tonight and into early tomorrow. Okay, and we just want to let you know that were getting word of about six School Closings or delays.
