Shes being hailed as a trail blazing astronaut. This is Peggy Whitson and shes nasas new record holder for most time in space. The International Space station commander received a congresser to congratulatory call from president donald trump. President trumps daughter ivanka and nasa astronaut kate reubens were also in the oval office for the call. How does it feel to have broken such a big and important record . Well, its actually a huge honor to break a record like this but its an honor for me basically to be representing all the folk at nasa who make this space flight possible and who make me setting this record feasible. She says from space astronaut Jeff Williams previously held the record. Whitson is currently doing her third stint on the International Space station. She was already the most experienced female space walker in the world and at 57 years old, the oldest woman in space. Whitsons also the only woman to serve as a station commander twice when she returns to earth in september she will have logged 666 days in orbit. Looking good the whole time. In case you were wondering the world record 879 days its held by russian astronaut. She would have to do about 200 more days in space to get there but you know what, peggy you make us proud. Alicia thanks. Time for another check of the accuweather forecast. Lets do it. Cecily tynan standing by for adam joseph. Quite a week coming up here cecily. We have big changes on the way as we head through the week. I dont think this is the graphic we want. Lets flip this over. This is a preview and actually the nfl draft is going to be a lot nicer than this. Lets go to weather one. There you go. Storm tracker6 live double scan showing that we do have a scattering of some showers around. Nothing all that heavy right now but it will be intensifying as we head through the day tomorrow. So ozooming in, you can see that theres an area of some real light showers moving through south jersey and delaware. Its moving up to the north, so this will be heading into the philadelphia area within the next few minutes. Its going to be one of those patterns where you need the umbrella today, tomorrow and even for part of wednesday. Right now it shows that with that easterly flow it certainly is on the cool side. Its 59 degrees in philadelphia. Allentown is 60. Allentown hasnt seen quite as much shower activity. Millville 56 and cape may currently only 54. So satellite and radar showing that low pressure down to the south. Its right along the border of georgia and South Carolina. That will continue pushing to the northeast and as it does, our scattered sprinkles will become showers and then become a steady soaking rain tomorrow. Temperatures tomorrow stuck in the 50s basically going nowhere fast. At 7 oclock, here i am, 51 degrees. By 1 oclock, a measly 53. By 5 oclock, 55 degrees with that easterly flow. Its going to be cool, its going to be wet and its also going to be pretty windy. That low pressure can actually kind of tap into the low level jet higher in the atmosphere pull those winds to the surface so by 3 oclock, were looking at wind gusts in philadelphia up to about 25 Miles Per Hour. But right along the shore you can see winds up to about 40 Miles Per Hour. So, tomorrow is going to be a pretty nasty day. It will be cool, it will be windy and its going to be wet. So, future tracker showing 8 oclock in the morning philadelphia showers are here steadier down to the south sprinkles up to the north but then it really fills in pushes in up around lunchtime a steady rain along i95 continues into the afternoon hours and even late tuesday night were looking at still some showers around. I think some of the showers will even linger into wednesday morning. Now, the good news about this, before you complain about the dreary weather if you have allergies this is great news. You get the rain to kind of wash the pollen out of the air so the pollen forecast will be low to medium tomorrow, back up to medium high by wednesday and then it stays high right through the end of the week right through the weekend and into early next week. So, the four day at 4 00 showing tomorrow rainy cool and breezy. Its going to be pretty nasty day. The high 56 degrees. Could get a half inch to an inch and a half of rain. Wednesday is a day of transition. Morning drizzle t it will be tough to break the clouds through the day, the high 68 but look at thursday, right in time for the nfl draft. Brighter and warmer, 80. Friday 84 degrees and would you believe its going to get even warmer by the weekend . Ill talk about that coming up in the sevenday forecast. Were opening our pool on wednesday. There you go. Come on over for a pool party. Perfect time. I think we can make that happen. I think the crew can get there. All right. [laughter] thank you cecily. Hi, matt pelman once again in the action news traffic center. Matts got an update. We know its a week thats going to fray the nerve of the drivers in philadelphia. Any extra complications are really unwelcome. We had some this afternoon, a broken down tractortrailer in the southbound lanes of 95 approaching girard a cleared out of the way. Its extra heavy this afternoon as you come southbound away from cottman in towards center city. Of course its busy on the schuylkill. What afternoon isnt . Weve got some rain hanging out right now. Its going to be here for the next 24 hours. Yeah. Really good stuff coming out there. Exactly. Its hanging out to the south it moves in overnight through the day tomorrow and moves out wednesday and then we again into some real summer heat. Something for everyone. First we have the rain. Storm tracker6 live double scan showing that right now weve got a scattering of generally some light showers. I am watching a batch thats moving out of south jersey, salem county moving through middletown delaware and this is heading up north through the new jersey turnpike heading towards philadelphia but mainly its the light variety of rain. The steady rain is to our south and that will be moving in early tomorrow and really staying with us through the day. Right now, though, its definitely a cool day. Philadelphia 59 degrees. Allentown just a little bit warmer, 60. Wilmington 59, cape may 53. And trenton currently 56 with that that wind off the ocean, that easterly flow. So, satellite and radar showing the clouds are here, the light showers as well. The steady rain is lurking to the south. This low pressure has been bringing some flooding rain to South Carolina and this low pressure will be tracking down south of us but its going to be close enough that it brings us more moisture through the day tomorrow, so tonight some scattered showers around. Keep the umbrella handy. Dont really need it that much today.
