Time now for a check of the accuweather forecast. Meteorologist adam joseph has been keeping an eye on the weekend. Which could be a little little dicey adam perhaps. Yeah alittle but i think most main road ways are going to be just fine. Even the side roads just fine. It is a very minor event to begin the weekend as we look at sky6 life over the center city skyline. A lot of bright blue through most of the day. You see that high cloud cover spilling in now from the south and west and those clouds will continue to thicken overnight tonight. 41 right now in allentown. Pretty nice, 48 degrees in philadelphia. Still near 50 for millville. At 50 at the Atlantic City airport where you can see the direction of those wind arrows out of the northwest so were going to continue to tumble those temperatures overnight and with a bit of a breeze it feels more like 34 allentown, 36 in reading so a bit of a chill to the north and west. 42 wilmington and really not bad, 44 millville and 45 degrees in beach haven. Theres the clouds marching in from the south and west and you can see there is a dividing line. You get a little bit of snow on the Northern Edge of saint louis near cincinnati, then you get some of the blues as well as the purples. That is the sleet and freezing rain and rain in kentucky. Theres going to be quite an ice storm. Youll hear about it this coming weekend in the nations heartland and for us thankfully were right on the Northern Edge and dry air really going try to fight this system for us. Clouds thicken tonight and its turning chilly. 23 degrees by tomorrow morning in allentown, ninety four 24 ing and below freezing in far southern areas. When you wake up tomorrow morning and right through 9 oclock a. M. It is just cloud deacloudy and its cold. For most of us going into the afternoon some of that light snow spilling in and at times it will mix with sleet. Just over a trace to under half an inch of some of that snow and sleet and again it will be so light and falling during the day it will just mainly accumulate on the cars and the grassy surfaces. As we take a look at that four day at 4 00 forecast some of that afternoon light snow and sleet, 35 degrees so temperatures stay above normal. And then as we get into sunday, brighter, not as cold, 44 degrees. And then your day of service on monday, looking not bad. Sunshine in the morning, increasing clouds in the afternoon, 43 degrees. And then a lot of clouds maybe a few showers come tuesday at 48 degrees and wee well look at the rest of that sevenday forecast coming up in the next half hour. Okay. We can live with that. Medical chopper had to be called in to the scene. The choppers now gone and the bit of improvement since the last half hour is now one lane of stuck traffic is able to squeeze by. But it is still a very unpleasant situation, just 2 Miles Per Hour as you travel southbound away from the Lehigh Valley toward quakertown you still want no parts of this. Head for 309 and deal with those traffic lights instead. Southbound northeast extension is still a mess. Northbound i would still expect a gaper delay. Here on the roosevelt boulevard extension this afternoon southbound we had a School Bus Accident approaching the schuylkill. Thats gone now and it is still slow here on the southbound side and then in the backlog southbound just south of broad street this vehicle broke down. Tomorrow is not bad. Theres going to be a little snow and sleet. You splay to go a little slow at times in the afternoon but were not looking at a lot of precipitation. It is saturday, so it is. Stay home. Relax, light a fire and have a hot beverage. At storm tracker6 live double scan hot toddy hot chocolate. Clouds thicken up overnight and much colder than yesterday. Yesterday we hit records across the region. Not so much today but its still above normal. 48 philadelphia, 41 allentown. Near 50 for millville the Atlantic City airport dover as well as cape may and heres that change over the last 24 hours. It is 20 degrees colder right now than it was this time yesterday in trenton, lakehurst, reading as well as lancaster and not far from that for philadelphia, wilmington and all points down to the south. Theres some of that sunshine we saw earlier. The clouds now pushing in. A little precipitation northern parts of West Virginia and as we work to the west, they ther there you see tt boundary. This is the dividing lean of cold air to the north warm air to the south and theyre setting up for a significant and damaging ice storm from saint louis to wichita and also points down to the south in oklahoma. In fact, kansas city, the nfl playoff game against the steelers has been moved timingwise because of the ice threat to a night game instead of the afternoon. Expecting a half an inch of ice around kansas city but down towards oklahoma city, southwestern parts of kansas up to an inch of ice expected over the weekend. If you remember a few years ago Chester County Montgomery County we saw up to a half an inch of ice that was damage argue round here. You add another half inch on that and its going to be a big story this weekend out in the midwest. But for us tomorrow clouds in the morning, then some of that light snow and sleet at times mixing into the south. Comes in around lunchtime to 2 oclock but as quickly as it comes in notice it falls apart so it will only be a few hours that well see some very light precipitation. In fact, light snow and sleet late tomorrow morning into the afternoon, just a coating to an inch at best around the area, so again, a very nuisance event. That inch will be mainly in the higher terrain like Chester County Montgomery County up towards the Lehigh Valley. Main roads will just stay wet but watch for the secondary roads to turn slick at times especially even after the snow and sleet ends and those temperatures drop in the evening hours on untreated is your families High Pressure comes in on sunday, not as cold and lots of sunshine with your temperature of 44. The exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, a little wintry here to begin the weekend in the afternoon. And then much brighter not as cold on sunday, 44. Clouds increase on monday with some morning sun, 43 and then temperatures climb well above normal again going into next week but the problem with it is some on and off occasional rain tuesday into wednesday, temperatures then at 56. And hopefully we can break for some sunshine at the end of next week with temperatures still in the lower 50s. So, just a little snow and sleet, a coating to half inch not bad. An inch of ice in the midwest that is a big deal. It is. Adam thanks. We may be getting a little snow tomorrow but lets call it summertime in Atlantic City. Today the salt trucks are getting ready to hit the roads tomorrow when that light snow starts to fall. Friday night the big story on action news is a frigid saturday forecast. Thats right. Meteorologist cecily tynan is tracking the latest from accuweather from the action news big board tonight. Hey, cecily. Hi, rick and monica. Double scan live showing there is some moisture thats moving out of the midwest. Theres a stalled frontal boundary, this is the front that moved through yesterday. Ripple of energy along it so this is whats known as an overrunning event. The precipitation overrunning the air at the surface and there will be enough cold air tomorrow to produce some snow. This is not going to be a big storm. Temperatures right now a lot cooler than yesterday. Yesterday in the mid 60s. 46 degrees but still not bad. 40 is the normal high for this time of the year but if you look up to the north and west buffalo binghamton 24 degrees. And that wind is coming from that direction. So, temperatures will be dropping down into the 20s tonight and well be stuck in the 30s tomorrow. This shows really the progression. 43 degrees at 6 oclock. By midnight around 31 degrees. By 6 oclock, 29. So it is going to be a lot colder tomorrow than it was today and certainly yesterday and then weve got that light snow event. It will be pushing in from the west to the east between about 10 oclock and 1 oclock so right around lunchtime. Could have a little bit of sleet mixing in around philadelphia and areas south and even a brief changeover to rain for far southern areas,
