It is very cold out there today in case you hadnt noticed just yet and more of that to come this weekend. Lets see what the temperatures are at the moment. Lets head over to meteorologist adam joseph. We have fallen into the 30s, wind chills in the 20s today and were even seeing a few snow flurries and snow showers across the area especially to the north of philadelphia and those cold surfaces like the cars or maybe even some of the grass as this passes through could briefly stick a little bit on those surfaces but as you can see the northeast extension near Quakertown Doylestown bucks county parts past Lehigh Valley and then up towards Northampton County seeing some of these what we call streamers coming from the north and west. They kind of look like long fingers here, one, two, three, thats basically those lake effect snow showers breaking away from the lakes and then those stronger winds puncture them into our northern areas. Winds right now 13 miles an hour in allentown sustained 17 in philadelphia, the same for millville, 21 in wilmington and winds gusting right now lancaster of 22 miles an hour. As we take a look at wind chills, howl it feels when you step out on this late friday afternoon, 24 in the Lehigh Valley, 22 in lancaster, 29 millville. The only spots right at 30 degrees right along the shore but even there were still dealing with quite a wind and it feels mighty chilly out there with a lot of cloud cover. We did have some sunshine early this morning and then again you can see all that will lake effect snow up to the north and west. Again, a couple of those snow showers breaking their way south of interstate 80 but as we go overnight tonight and that sun sets well start to lose the cloud cover and well lose some of those snow showers to the north so it will be turning clear brisk and cold. Air temperatures going back into the 20s overnight and the winds will ease enough that wind chills should stay above that 20degree threshold for much of the overnight hours. Saturdays planner, sun and clouds, 38 degrees, so very similar to today, maybe a little bit little more sun a little bit longer into the day tomorrow. Wind chills staying in the upper 20s tomorrow and then were tracking the second half of the weekend. Clouds first thing on sunday morning, very cold, in the 20s. Then also a we go into sunday afternoon there could be some flurries or snow showers especially Lehigh Valley up to the poconos. 34 philadelphia on sunday afternoon, 36 in millville. Very cold with the clouds and then a bigger storm comes in early on monday morning late sunday night. This is 3 a. M. You can see the warm air puncturing in mainly rain for most of us but could begin as a little snow up in the Lehigh Valley before it changes to rain there and for the morning rush on monday 7 30 you could see its above freezing everywhere with the rain falling and were taking a look at the onset of this storm to bring maybe one to 3 inches of snow, pottstown, quakertown Lehigh Valley to the north before it washes away and just a few flakes in and around philadelphia to the south. Your four date 4 00 forecast it stays cold upper 30s both days. But more sun tomorrow. A snow shower possible north of the city sunday afternoon and then it turns milder on monday, mainly rain, 53 degrees. And then partly sunny on tuesday, 45 degrees. So, if youre up from about midnight sunday to 4 00 a. M. On monday morning, up in the Lehigh Valley, you could see some snow on the ground before it washes away here on monday. Colder air coming up in that sevenday forecast than were feeling right now. Okay, adam. Thank you. Shocking i know. Not going to ask any questions. All right, adam. Sure. You factor in the wind which has been an issue most of the day, with speeds of 20 to 30 miles an hour at times. Feels like 29 in philadelphia, same for washington, 12 in syracuse, 13 in burlington and again, a bit of a shock to the system since we havent had temperatures this cold in nearly 10 months around here. As we look at storm tracker6 live double scan weve had some of these lake effect snow showers, these bands that have broken their way over the mountains and affected some of our northern areas, Lehigh Valley, even philadelphia here at the station when i was walking in earlier couple of flakes falling from the sky even bucks county and parts of Montgomery County, but not doing much in the way of damage out there. So, as you go into the upcoming weekend tomorrow sun and clouds, another cold day, 38 degrees with wind chills staying in the 20s both in the morning and the afternoon and then very cloudy on sunday. North of the city there could be a couple of snow showers in the afternoon, 37 degrees and then as we go into sunday night and on monday were tracking a bigger storm that is now working into the lower part of the 48 there in the northwestern parts of the united states. Taking a live look outside this evening, sky6 looking live in center city from our Temple University camera. Beautiful sky tonight. Meteorologist adam joseph back with the very cold and exclusive accuweather 7day forecast. All right, adam all week long you told us it was coming. We always believe you but we didnt wants to believe you and here it is. Sorry. [laughter] its here. That winter feeling it is december, shocking. Its not that bad. I agree its not im okay. Its not horrible. Yeah. You know, but it is the coldest air in 10 months around here. Try to ease it in. As we take a look right now, live on sky6 there in Spring Mountain in Montgomery County, they were testing the snow guns out and making a little bit of snow. Still a long way to go but i tell you, when you look at that sevenday forecast theres plenty of opportunities for cold enough temps to kind of get those slopes fully white. As we look at storm tracker6 live double scan we even have some natural snowflakes falling in parts of the areas to the north and west. You can see this little area of white near 222 just to the north and west of reading, even reading a couple of snowflakes falling there with some of the snow showers that are breaking away from the great lakes with that wind traveling south of interstate 80 and even south of interstate 78 here parts of the Lehigh Valley also seeing a few snow flurries even into bucks county and Montgomery County. Wind chills mid and upper 20s. That is it how it feels out there. Below freezing acrosstheboard. In the poconos feels like 14 degrees. Early sunshine gave way to a lot of clouds as expect is there. With that cold air coming in it almost self destructs the atmosphere. Clouds bubble up because its so unstable with the cold air stacked in the atmosphere. Snow showers around the great lakes and a couple pulling their way into our northwestern suburbs. Once the sun sets and the lake effect snow machine shuts offer it will start to turn clear, brisk and cold, 24 in the city t28 in the suburbs. The setup for the beginning of the weekend High Pressure down to the south. That cold arctic high continues to meander in the eastern half of the country. Sun and clouds wind chills in the 20s despite an air temperature of 38 degrees. Then this high pushes offer to the east and winds around the high are clockwise. Well start to return the flow out of the south as a warm front approaches from the west. This will bring a lot of clouds in here on sunday, 37 degrees so still a cold second half of the weekend maybe a snow shower as that warmer air tries to puncture in and inn those northwestern suburbs and then low pressure rides through here sunday night and during the day on monday. Association what so what to expect here. 11, 12 oclock, very late, mainly rain philadelphia points in delaware and southern new jersey. It could start as some snow north of the pennsylvania turnpike and then it changes even there to rain northern Chester Montgomery bucks county Lehigh Valley by the morning rush on monday but if enough snowfalls before that happens it could be a slushy commute in those far northern areas. Talking about Pottstown Quakertown Allentown there could be this is an early call one to 3inches of snow before it washes away to rain during the day on monday and just a few flakes at the onset in and around philadelphia sunday night. The exclusive accuweather 7day forecast 30s over the upcoming weekend a little more sun tomorrow. Then on sunday, there could be a snow shower around in the afternoon north of the city, thats not the official system that comes in sunday night but again, monday mild air floods in, 53 degrees with mainly rain during the day. And then tuesday 45 before another arctic fronts comes with rain and snow showers wednesday of 40 and behind that blustery bitter cold, only freezing for high temperatures so we could have another shot of even colder air at the end of that sevenday forecast.
