Again, this was our breaking news story at the top. This all began around 7 oclock this morning when a dump truck tour down 14 wires in a construction zone. Its unfortunate but accidents do happen. The goal is to get it fixed and back up and running. You can see a new power line pole has been put up up on the scaffolding theyre working on that and some of those power lines that fell onto the turnpike you can see theyre being raised back up and attached but some still down there on the road and unfortunately we spoke with a lot of people who say this is a huge and convenience and youll hear that. Take a listen. When the pennsylvania turnpike closes both ways you know people are going have trouble. But missing your fathers funeral, thats rough. We are leaving west chester, pennsylvania, trying to go to new york west chester new york for my fathers funeral. Reporter we met up with tom and his family at the Delaware Valley interchange. They were scrambling to find a way around the turnpike portion that was closed. At that point he was pretty upset. Well never make it. Reporter the reason for the closure an honest mistake. A dump truck driver delivering a load left the truck up. He says the lack of a proper detour route from the Turnpike Commission compounded the set back. They told us to get off come down street road come up route 13 and get back on going east. We get to east and we cant get back on. Hes not the only one who says that. We he were coming south and there was all signs saying alternate routes but it didnt say where youre going to get off. Reporter a closed turnpike means no pay and. The wheels dont turn we dont earn. Reporter in some cases routes were delayed hours. Im about two and a half hours out of my way. Reporter we spotted big rigs scrambling to get back on schedule. A big mess for you, hm . It is, it is. Reporter okay, another look here. Crews working as quick as they can to get the turnpike reopened. Now its a miscommunication earlier that said we were told that the delawareville interchange was supposed to be opened and you could reenter the turnpike there. That was closed for the majority of the day. You heard some frustration from drivers but i have been told right now it is reopened. You can use it now to get back onto the turnpike. What frustrating day for so many people because so many people count on the pennsylvania turnpike and this afternoon it is completely out of commission through bucks county causing big backups because of the closure all eastbound traffic is being forced off at route one. Thats the bensalem interchange and approaching that closure point speeds are just in the teens at best coming east of willow grove. Headed westbound in new jersey youre detoured off at 130 there in Burlington County and then you cant use the turnpike connector bridge to get into pennsylvania. So, a lot of people are heading for the burlington bristol bridge. Seeing some speeds around 4 miles an hour there on 130 through burlington as people try to get to the bbb. This afternoon im advising if you would normally use the pennsyania turnpike stay as far away as you can really. Use route one the super highway especially if youre headed northbound. Coming southbound speeds are in the teens through the langhorne area. 95 is another good option to get you into or from new jersey. They canceled the northbound construction this afternoon. That were out there earlier, picked up their cones early so that you can use 95 to get into new jersey there at the scudder falls bridge. That is a good option but the turnpike is completely out of commission. The burlington bristol bridge is packed all because of this mess in bucks county this afternoon. In Fairmount Park kelly drive is closed an accident near lemon hill by boathouse row. Use the mlk instead. Parked in Chester County on the westbound 30 bypass. And another mess here. Two freight trains collided head on this morning in Chester Township delaware county. Chopper six over the scene shortly after 8 30 this morning. Csx says two employees were taken to the hospital with injuries but we dont have any information about their conditions right now. And investigators are trying to figure out how they ended up on the same tracks near kerlin street and concorde road. Youre looking live at chicagos Ohare Airport and the Emergency Response after a plane there caught fire on the tarmac. That is an American Airlines plane which says the incident involved flight 383 bound for miami that plane forced to abort takeoff after a blown tire but at some point a fire broke out in the engine on the right wing of that boeing 766. No word on any serious injuries right now but of course air traffic into and out of slicks Ohare Airport a major airport is being affected this afternoon. Well of course keep our eyes on this and bring you the very latest as we get it. Heavy equipment is in place and ready to clean up the mess left by protestors opposed by that Dakota Access oil pipeline. This comes after a tense standoff and clashes that erupted last night. Yesterday officers wearing riot gear moved in and removed hundreds of people. They had set up a roadblock and camp on private land that was owned by the developer of the actual pipeline. The protestors have been in the area for weeks protesting the 1200mile pipeline that is designed to carry oil from Western North dakota to illinois. In west philadelphia, there are two sisters making sauces and marinades they are ready to introduce to the world. Just a short time ago the fbi director james comey dealt a potentially major setback to Hillary Clintons pursuit of the presidency. Comey told Congress Today that the fbi is now investigating new emails which raises the specter it may reopen the criminal investigation of that democratic nominee for president. Those emails were reportedly discovered during the sexting probe of disgraced congressman anthony weiner. Now that announcement with just 11 days to go until election day presents what could be major hurdle to what will be clintons surging campaign. At a rally in iowa she did not address the controversy. Her spokesman said the campaign is not considered with the development and her rival donald trump sounded off. Hillary clintons corruption is on a scale we have never seen before. We must not let her take her criminal scheme into the oval office. Now in his letter to Congress Director comey said the fbi has not yet determined if the new emails amount to anything criminal but he also said it could take months before that determination is ultimately made. Other news this afternoon in New Castle County a man is charged with trying to kidnap two children in newark wednesday afternoon. Police say joseph kriger attempted to abbucket the kids who were playing outside near east edgewater way. Investigators say kriger was in a vehicle at the time and never had any physical contact with the children. He was arrested at his home on hartford road yesterday. Investigators are looking for an arsonist who set fire to three cars in philadelphia. Someone smashed the drivers side windows and then threw some sort of accelerant into the vehicle. The damage was discovered around 2 oclock this morning on the 3000 block of coral street in kensington. The fire marshal is working to determine exactly what sparked the fires while police are working to establish a motive. Langhorne car dealership is cleaning up the mess from a van that crashed into the front window. Police are trying to determine why the driver lost control this morning. The vehicle slammed into reedman toll auto world on the 1600 block of east lincoln highway. No one was hurt. But a dealership showroom as you can see is now heavily damaged. A burglar thought he was covering his tracks when he he broke into a philadelphia confectionary shop but was dealt a not so sweet surprise. Police say the suspect forced over the back door on Market Street in olde city back on september 28th. Well the burglar took cash, laptops and managed to steal one of the Stores Security systems. But these images were captured by a second Surveillance System that was in the store and he was apparently unaware of. The camera bouncing a bit there with that westnorthwesterly wind at 20 miles an hour. The temperature there pretty similar to the city because they have a land breeze not a sea breeze at 57 degrees. But you can see waiting in the wings this summerlike air. Omaha 82, wichita 81, atlanta 83 degrees and a piece of that will be working up into the midatlantic region so well talk about just how warm it gets here saturday and sunday. Several hundred people held candles as they remembered the victims from that accident. The Thunder River rapids ride at the dream world theme park malfunctioned and two rafts collided. One overturned and trapped the victims against a conveyor belt. Dream world has been closed as a crime scene since that accident happened. Traffic is moving once again on the nations busiest bridge after police removed a trespasser. A man was able to climb to the top of the tower on the new jersey side of the George Washington bridge during the morning commute. Now the upper lanes collected fort lee he to new york were reopened after police finally got the guy. Its unclear at this point why he did this but this is the seconds incident on that bridge this week. On wednesday protestors chained themselves together and blocked traffic. No traffic getting through westbound. Eastbound its blocked at bensalem and you can see just 9 Miles Per Hour as you come east of willow grove and approach the closure point. All because of those downed wires that were mode down by the truck at about 7 oclock this morning. So, at this point the turnpike is closed. A lot of people are using the burlington bristol bridge to make the crossing over the Delaware River but speeds there not so good. Just 4 Miles Per Hour. Ive been saying stay farther away if you can like on route one although he there we are seeing a lot of slow patches now. 95 looks pretty good. If you can use 95 up to the scudder falls bridge they packed up the northbound construction there early today so that would be a good bet for you.
