Lets switch live to vernon odom live outside the Constitution Center keeping an eye on the other big reveal expected today possibly any moment. Hillary clintons Vice President ial pick and vern as you might guess speculation is very much swirling. Reporter it is brian, thats indeed been the question all day. Will secretary clinton reveal her choice and just moments that has been the word seeping out of the washington circles all day but theres been little or nothing in terms of exactly who she he will tap. The odds makers believe virginia senator tim kaine the former governor of that state will be Hillary Clintons running mate. Some call him a safe pick meaning he will do no harm to her chances of beating donald trump in the fall. Another possibility was former governor tom vilsack. She believes that she doesnt need to offer any further concessions and shes making a safe choice, somebody who will do no harm. Reporter cory booker of new jersey is mentioned as another possibility. As the anticipation builds by the hour now some thoughts from some random rank and file democrats. I think it should be a man because i dont think this country he is ready for two women on any ticket. And i think it could possibly be kaine from virginia because he speaks mannish and i spanish. Im hoping for someone more personable. Little larry is brilliant. The American People dont connect with her like you always hear the criticism of her like a robot she cant speak in public. The crew here has done a fabulous job putting this together for what will be an extraordinary week of coverage. Yes, very busy here and a not so small army of workers buzzing through this building right now. Meanwhile in cleveland, the opposite effort is under way. Breaking down a similar setup of the Republican National convention. About that event. One notable figure was notably absent from it, Ohio Governor john kasich. We learned in recent days that despite his dislike maybe even his disdain for donald trump, Trump Campaign actually wanted kasich to be the Vice President ial candidate before they offered that job to mike pence. Kasich said no. Not only that, like ted cruz, kasich refuses to endorse trump. Well, this afternoon the governor and i sat down at the union league in philadelphia for a wide ranging conversation about his opposition to his partys nominee and the future of the Republican Party under donald trump. And we talked about a question many in the gop who do not support trump might be wondering. You listen to you and you listen to ted cruz they say im going vote. Im not going to vote for Hillary Clinton and i dont know that i like donald trump so what do you do . What do you do . I dont know what im going to do yet. Well have to see if things get close as things get closer to november and, you know, i just dont think, though, that were in a good spot. I dont know what im going to do yet. Im going to im waiting to see if i can see a unifying donald trump, a positive donald trump and if i see it great. If i dont see it then ive got to figure Something Else out. If youre a union fire you can n win. If not youre unlikely to. Governor kasich left the door open to voting for a third party a libertarian candidate johnson. Despite all that kasich had strong words for ted cruz who took his nonendorsement straight into the convention telling me its like going to a dinner party and criticizing the cook. And as for the future of the Republican Party, he says no matter what happens in november, hes optimistic it has a vibrant future. I suspect you might also see him back in the hunter as a candidate for maybe eight years from now. Well put more on this interview on our web site 6abc. You see, grandma tracy here just wanted to get to the ocean but when her family couldnt seem to find an available beach wheelchair, they felt stuck. Enter hero, shane mccann, the lifeguard there. He grabbed a dune buggy belted grandma in and gave her a ride to the sand to the shore line and thats not all. He also picked her up and brought her back to her hotel where he told her that she was an inspiration to him. The family was so overwhelmed with his kindness their story of gratitude is going viral on facebook. Shanes mom tells us they tipped him but he shared it with all the other lifeguards. Now, even with all this attention she says he has remained humble as ever and rick, we cannot see this smile enough from grandma here who appreciated it and as we always say, you raise them well and they treat people with respect. Thats right. Thats what its all about. Lasting memories for both of them. Thank you, alicia. Time now for another check on the highways and by ways.
