Commuters are facing challenges after a structural problem forced septa to take onethird of their rail trains out of service. Some were so full they passed by stops in the thick of rush hour this morning. And now commuters are hoping for the best. John rawlins is live at septa headquarters where officials updated the situation this morning. A bit a rough ride this morning on a typical weekday its estimated that 65,000 people take a train to work or into the city of philadelphia. Today its estimated that 35 and 40,000 people were able to do that. As you said trains actually bypass some would be riders and it could be tougher in the near future as more would be riders return to work after the july 4th holiday. From norristown to fern rock to wynnewood no evidence of a melt down but there was packed trains. The first train passed us by and this one here was okay and it was standing room only. We saw delays, it started out not so bad but as the morning when on by 7 30 or so there were trains that had to skip stations because they were full to capacity. Septa says in six cases trains bypassed would be riders closer to the city, and promised to make adjustments but is expected more returning riders going forward. I am concerned that well have even more people coming back to this system tomorrow and i think people may still have been off today. So we continue to ask people to look at alternative septa service. Septa parking lots in south philadelphia had plenty of capacity. Hopefully rail riders will park and ride taking the subway but not many takers today. Many opted to stay with the rails a surprising number unaware of septas troubles. I just heard about it. Have to Contact People i work with to tell them i wont be there for a 9 00 meeting. How long will this last . That is an open question this evening. Septa is in talks with the train, that were pulled out of service here this, re exploring various fixes but no one with any certainty can say what caused the problem to begin with. There have been 13 fires, and Jeanette Reyes is at the site of the most recent blaze. Reporter police are now considering this arson investigation and with more reason now, this is the 14th home to catch fire and they are hoping that the community will help them find the person or people behind it all. One by one homes in camden went up in flames and they only seemed to escalate in security. It happened at 1 00 yesterday afternoon, Authorities Say firefighters were narrowly able to rescue a man on the balcony. I ownd this business for 11 years. He is a Business Owner and his work vans used to transport residents to work is a complete loss after a fire in the alley. All he does is help people. Im waiting for a job for him now and how am i going to get to work . All of these fires within a mile of each other and one has been occupied. 12 your considered significant and seven firefighters have been injured most from heat exhaustion and some from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. The fear is someone can get injured or killed. We had seven firefighters injured this is a significant amount of firefighter injuries for a two day period. A Multiagency Task force is assembled to catch the person or people responsible. It points to a brazen arsonist that commits the acts in broad daylight. The community is bringing forth who is responsible and holding this person accountable for lighting these fires. But for long time Business Owners and the community it goes beyond finding a culprit. The 28 and 61yearold female victims were attacked overnight sunday just a few hours apart. The first happened at the colonial Garden Apartments and they are just blocks apart. Quite a bit of damage to this home at this hour. The fire was apparently showing from a gather when fire crew as rived here and the fire went to a second alarm and no reports of injuries, that is the good news, but plenty of damage to this home ingl gloucester county. A 16yearold boy is recovering after being shot in the head in wilmington. The police were called shortly before midnight last night. The boy was shot last night and rushed to dupont hospital. Officers are trying to figure out who shot him and why. Are you asked to call detectives if you have any information. A 14yearold was rescued from a home on fire early this morning. The action cam was in winfield as firefighters worked to put out the flame as long the 2700 block of north 47th street. First responders used a ladder to reach the boy who had escaped to the roof. Most of the flames were contained to the third floor of the home and the cause of fire is still under investigation. The boy was not injured.
