Now to a big story that were following out of new jersey today. Despite the fact that its running on fumes, a financially strapped Atlantic City did find a way to make its 1. 8 million bond payment today. Mayor don guardian held a press conference this morning saying that even though theyre what he calls teetering on the edge they did not want to be the first municipality to default on its debt since fort lee did in the 1930s. Guardian says this will not affect payroll or School Payments but they did as guard onput it have to rummage through the sofa cushions to scrape together this money. Were trying to get through day to day. Weve stop making purchases weeks ago. We certainly havent replaced any staff for any reason through attrition. There is no any additional payroll without undue circumstances and so, yeah, were doing a type where we understand how important these payments are to make. Reporter things are pretty tight around there right now the state senate has passed a takeover plan supported by governor Chris Christie but guardian is standing his ground against it saying his city would be completely shut out and not have what he calls a seat at the table. Now the state assembly has its own plan that would give Atlantic City two more years to get its financial situation in line. Now, that could come up for a vote on thursday. Meanwhile governor christie did not mince words today asking whether guardian wants a medal for making a debt payment and saying that hes confident theyre in such rough shape that this will not be the case next month. So, some fighting words today and certainly a situation for Atlantic City to work out. Sharrie and brian. Yeah, ongoing saga one well continue to follow. It is time now for the action news traffic report. All right, lets send it over to matt pelman in the action News Traffic Center on monday afternoon. Hey, matt. Already were seeing 20 minute delays acrosstheboard on the septa regional rails because of some signal problems so your train good chance it might be late this afternoon and dont forget the a. C. Youre on the buses instead of the trains because of work on the delair bridge and then during the overnights that busing extends which cherry hill. That lasts all this work week on njts ac rail line. Dry along the roosevelt boulevard but wow is it couldnt jested in both directions here by roberts avenue. Northbound backing up like it usually does headed up towards broad street. Southbound busy headed down towards fox. Farther north there are a couple accidents on the boulevard, one southbound at red line, another northbound at conwell avenue with typical speeds in the 20s as you sit through the traffic lights. We had a bus accident in north philadelphia that just cleared at second and ontario but in tacony watch out for a crash along levick at torresdale. There was one on 95 northbound, its gone now near cottman but speeds are still slow and in glassboro a crash on 322 near lehigh road. Lets do the commuter report on this monday afternoon. Still ahead here at 4 oclock today the fight over princes fortune begins as his family shows up to court. Plus, its a problem in communities all across the region. Today governor Chris Christie announced what new jersey is doing to fight lead in schools. And its end of a line for a popular Sporting Goods store. What it means for hundreds of jobs here at home. With the water crisis in flint, michigan fresh on the publics mind theres a new initiative in new jersey to test the water in every single public school. And to let parents know whether its safe for their kids to drink. Today governor Chris Christie says he will require every single one of the states Public Schools to test for lead starting next school year. So hes asking the legislature for 10 million to pay for this mandatory testing. This follows an announcement back in march that indicates testing did find levels of lead in half of the School Buildings in newark. Christie says this mandate takes the Testing Process one step further. Theyve been required already to deliver by regulation Safe Drinking Water to everybody in the school. Thats already a requirement. What were saying now is were going to require you to test and publish the results of throws tests to parents and to the public so that they know. So if lead is detected christie says its up to the individual School District to decide how to handle it. The state does not have a say in that matter. In camden, for instance, lead was detector back in 2002. Rather than update the pipes there which can get costly they he switched to bottled water. So just one example but that testing will be mandatory for the whole state now. Sharrie. Safety precautions. Im sure parents are in favor for that one. Alicia thank you. Clouds hanging on. Heavy rain gone but there could be a spitting shower tomorrow afternoon. When you take a look at how much rain is expected with the four different models that we really kind of look at here, were on either side of an inch so it is a good soaking pushing in. As we take a look at that four day at 4 00 forecast, not so bright. Morning rain tomorrow giving way to afternoon clouds or a leftover shower of 64 degrees and then wednesday, thursday into friday an upper level low slowly drifts through which means clouds take over every single day. There could try to be some brightening here or there but the clouds really win out and on and off showers wednesday, thursday and on friday.
