The old 93 was from back in 2008. This marks the day six of the present heat wave and the 34th time philadelphia has hit 90 or better this year. As we take a look at the heat index, the numbers have started to come back down. That northeasterly wind trying to do its job to dry the atmosphere how. Feels like 84 in allentown, 81 in wilmington with storms there. 87 in millville but it still feels like 92 in philadelphia and at the shore mid 80s presently. As we look at double scan live radar we have a couple of downpours and thunderstorms scattered through the region. This cluster in central parts of Chester County moving away from west chester in that northeasterly to southwesterly direction near route one heading towards oxford. 32 lightning strikes in particular area and then up in the Lehigh Valley, five lightning strikes here and you can see a downpour around route 100 between macungie and bally and also on the split of 78 and as you hit that northeast extension south of allentown near schnecsville. This is a cold front trying to push through. High pressure to the north dewpoints dropping into the 40s and 50s and that will siphon in that dry air for the upcoming Holiday Weekend so it will be an amazing holiday. Amtrak said today it is adding 41 trains during the papal weekend both for the northeast corridor and from harrisburg. That will add about 35,000 extra seats. Some of the trains are being leased from railroads in new jersey and maryland. Some of our extra trains will actually operate using new Jersey Transit or Marc Equipment and well also be adding a stop at hamilton where we dont normally stop in hamilton, new jersey, again, through an agreement with new Jersey Transit. The name of the game is to be able to move as many people into and out of philadelphia so we can get people to the event. Reporter theyre also monitoring reservations and if theres more demand theyll put more cars onto some of their existing trains. It was the an emotional scene in this morning in kentucky where gay couples who have been trying to get marriage licenses finally got their wish and they celebrate their victory and the woman who was trying to stop them is sitting in jail and her husband says shes prepared to wait there a long time. [cheers and applause] it was a day filled with cheers of joy and cheers of support outside the county Clerks Office in rowan county kentucky. William smith and james have been trying to get a marriage license since june when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of samesex marriage. After six visits to the Clerks Office, today they can finally move forward. This means everything at least for this area. Civil rights. Reporter meanwhile the county Clerk Kim Davis is spending her second day in jail. A judge held her in contempt of court for refusing to issue the licenses. Davis who has been married four times says shes denying the licenses because of her religious beliefs. That led to a tense encounter earlier this week. Why. Under whose authority. Under gods authority. Reporter today her husband says she has no regrets and no plans to resign. Yeah ive spoken to her over the phone and shes in good spirits. She will be there until however long it takes. The judge in this case plans to revisit the issue next week meaning davis will be in jail at least until then. He said hes watching to make sure the other clerks in the office continue to issue licenses to gay couples. Thousands of refugees have begun walking from hungarys capitol heading west now that staying at home is just too dangerous. Those refugees began marching from budapest vowing to reach the austrian border on foot. That came after Hungarian Police blocked them from taking trains. Most of these refugees are syrians who are trying to escape a bloody war. Theyre trying to eventually reach germany or other places in the west since hungary is more likely to return them to their home countries. Meanwhile in syria the twoyearold boy whose lifeless body has become the symbol of the migrant crisis was laid to rest today. He was buried along with his fouryearold brother and his mother. All three died when their boat capsized while they tried to cross from turkey into greece. The twoyearolds body washed up on shore and that image has gone viral on social media. The father of that family survived the accident and was there for the funeral today. Well, the economy added fewer jobs than expected in august but unemployment is the lowest its been in years. The august jobs report showing the u. S. Added 173,000 jobs last month. Thats far lower than the 218,000 expect of expected. But the Unemployment Rate fell. 2 of a point to 5. 1 percent, the lowest since march of 2008. This is a key report for the Federal Reserve which is expected to debate raising Interest Rates when it meets in two weeks. And look at the closing numbers on wall street. The company is now recalling 335,000 cases because a thin strip of the plastic can stick to the food. The company says it has gotten five reports of people choking because of the problem. There was a loved near glassboro and salem parts of Cumberland County that swung through central and southern parts of delaware but those have pretty much fallen apart. Right now we just have a couple left over in south western parts of Chester County here moving away from unionville, just a couple of lightning strikes with this particular storm. Its just some brief heavy rain as its passing over 41 and then south towards route one and oxford and also near georgetown and quarryville, a little flareup there with some red and some heavy rain but again, most of us dry this afternoon. As we take a look at this september heat, we were 95 on tuesday, 93 on wednesday, 96 yesterday, 93 today. To have four Straight Days in a row with temperatures in the 90s for the beginning of september, you have to go back 42 years to have it start that warm with four consecutive days of 90 or above so its pretty rare to see a string of hot temperatures like this in september. As we look at the winds, you can see them funneling out of the eastnortheast right now, 13 trenton, 13 allentown, 16 miles an hour in philadelphia, 18 miles an hour on the boardwalk and that wind will eventually help dry us out with respect to the humidity tonight and the weekend. And as we look at satellite its a cold front swinging through. That cold front will continue to migrate to the south and west as we go through the rest of the overnight hours. As we take a look at the game of the week here for high school huddle, yes, football is back. Reporter brian, at this hour tonight, a team of detectives from the northeast Detective Division are scouring lower frankford trying the find those two suspects who opened fire last night on a pregnant woman and her male friend. It is quieter than normal here along the 4100 block of paul street today. Last night around 10 00 it was trigger happy chaos. Two people are shot in front of this house police say when two gunmen opened fire for from around 30 feet away. A 23yearold pregnant woman was wounded a 21yearold man was also hit. Police say there were a total of 11 shots fired. Both victims were rushed to temple hospital. He was in surgery for hours overnight. Both will survive. She is eight months pregnant. The unborn child as far as doctors can tell was not harmed. Heres the voice of the female victim. Sitting down. Then i heard gun shots and i got shot. After i got in the house, i realized i got shot. The baby is fine. Reporter no problems with that, hm . No. Reporter police say the suspects fled in a white cadillac. At this hour detectives are looking at Surveillance Video from around the neighborhood as they try to develop more leads. Two guys and they see one with a gun. We do believe there was two different caliber guns out there from the evidence that we collected. Philadelphia Police Looking for two men who viciously beat a plan outside a liquor store in juniata has month. Surveillance cameras captured the assailants back on august 17th. Then without warning the men ambushed him. Police say the vic testimony was not only kicked and punched, he was hit in the head with some kind of object. He was treated for injuries to his head and face. If you recognize either suspect here or the tow truck one of the men arrived in, please call east detectives. Were learning more now about the deaths of a jersey shore family earlier this week. Authorities in Monmouth County have now confirmed that 35yearold Linden Bahari fatally shot his girlfriend and their two children before setting their Long Branch Home on fire on tuesday. Police say he then turned the gun on himself. Prosecutors have officially ruled the deaths of 29yearold Amanda Morris as well as her four and sevenyearold sons homicides. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the murdersuicide. A bicyclist remains in Critical Condition after being lit by a car in bucks county this morning. Chopper 6hd was over the 2200 block of street road in bensalem. Thats where the accident happened just after 9 00 a. M. Though police have not released many details, they do say the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The parents of a Lehigh County woman killed in a crash are once again distraught after someone removed the roadside memorial in her honor. Joan and Albert Dicky Dixon say theyve maintained the memorial here at lower macungie township since their daughter alexandras death back in 2007. It stood at the spot where the 21yearold was fatally struck by an suv. But this past sunday, they say they noticed the whole thing was gone including a cross that was posted more than 12 feet high. In its place this note. They called it distracting and dangerous. The township says it has no ordinances that prohibit roadside memorials. We have developing news out of texas right now. Firefighters have just rescued a teenager from inside a locked safe. Before noon the 16yearold somehow locked himself in the unused safe at a high school in santonio. Firefighters drilled holes through the safe and set up a fan to provide air circulation. It took them about three hours to get the teenager out. He was not injured. No word on why he was in there in the first place. Thats right. Now hes got one heck of a story to tell. Uhhuh. All right, lets talk about the weather because thats pretty much the best story. The front was a little slower, the sun was a little more abundant but to the north and east trenton and toms river only in the low he to the mid 80s which should have been across much of the area today as that front progressed through a little bit quicker. So, the heat wave continues but not for Atlantic City as we take a look right now, 81 degrees there but very tropical feeling with your dewpoint at 75 degrees with that wind out of the east at 11 miles an hour and that easterly wind will keep those water temperatures very warm the entire weekend. 78 off the new jersey coast, 80 off the coast of the beaches in delaware and in the bay, near 80 degrees, so thats the good part of hitting the ocean cause it will be warm. However, with that easterly wind all weekend, there will be a moderate risk for rip currents so just watch for that if usual heading to the shore. Prosecutors say one of the two women recorded video last month of the fights and then shared them with friends through snapchat. She even allegedly compared the fights to the movie fight club. Union county investigators say about a dozen boys and girls are on the various clips shoving one another to the ground. Fortunately none of the kids were injured in all of this. Two teenagers in North Carolina are learning a very serious lesson about sexting. They were facing felony charges and a 17yearold could be required to register as a sex offender. Hes accused of sending his 16yearold girlfriend naked pictures of himself. But many are questioning the law because the 17yearold is being charged as an adult for exploiting a minor himself. The sheriff hopes this case is a lesson to other kids. Its not something that the Sheriffs Office targets. Its not something were going to target but if its something we come across it is a violation of the law and were going to charge somebody for it. Now, the 16yearold was facing similar charges but she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and agreed to a year probation. Her boyfriends court date is set for later this month. To big talkers now and a straight couple in tennessee wants to get a divorce but the judge is saying no dice. Man and wife have to stay that way. Why . Try to follow the reasoning. The judge in Hamilton County say its because of the Supreme Courts ruling on samesex marriage. The judge claims the Supreme Courts decision on samesex marriages has derailed tennessees ability to determine what constitutes marriage and weakons tutses divorce and is asking the highest court in the country to clarify when a marriage is no longer a marriage. Safe to say he didnt agree with that decision. So, the couple is going to try to file again. Maybe with another judge but his suggestion to them when he wouldnt let them get divorced, try and reconcile. Not sure how that one is going to work out. To ohio where the city of dayton is apologizing to a man who says he was wrongfully pulled over for making eye contact with a Police Officer. That officer, though, says he didnt signal properly before turning. Im not doing nothing. Okay. Because i have a plate, other than that why was you trailing me. Because you made direct eye contact to me and held on. What . John felton says he felt like he was being followed. The Police Officer and the department say the stop was legal and despite what he said about the eye contact, the officer watched him make that turn without the blinker and no one in the city believes that eye contact is a valid reason to pull someone over. But in delco on 95 northbound by 452 theres a vehicle fire. Fire crews on the scene taking out the left lane giving you slow speeds coming out of delaware headed towards the blue route. Vine street expressway eastbound by broad street the crash is completely off to the side. Doesnt matter. Still jammed in both directions here along the vine and of course the ben franklin parkway right there is still closed. Now inner and outer drives and even more closures take effect because of made in america starting tomorrow morning.
