Well, we have not seen rain, we have not seen sleet it has been all snow all the time since weve been here. We got here about 11 oclock this morning. It is certainly accumulating on the landscape. Behind me you can see it is not accumulating on the major highways. Folks are buzzing along the northeast expressway. But all in all its a pretty miserable day out here if you have to spend any significant time outside. It feels cold. Cold. Reporter a bit frustrating youre doing it this late in the year. Not springlike at all. Reporter you can say that again. This last storm brought a heavy wet snow and bone chilling damp. It accumulated several inches in the Lehigh Valley. Some allentown roads slushy. Parking spots had to be shoveled. A snowblower was useful to clear long walks. A winter rerun hours before the vernal eke quinn knocks. Its not supposed to be snowing the first day of spring. Reporter something was missing. Norma was in search. Even two supermarkets and two bodegas walking and theres no salt anywhere. Reporter gone. Gone, gone. Reporter highway conditions varied. North to scranton on the turnpike lanes were reporting clear and wet though visibility was poor and road spray a factor. But to the west there was icing. This jackknifed tractortrailer closed i78 at the kutztown exit for more than an hour. Mike told us about the conditions he encountered. Its horrible. It was slushy and then it went to ice. People driving too fast. Reporter you saw a truck go off the road. Right through the concrete barrier. Reporter i78 was closed for more than an hour in both directions. It is now reopened and presumably conditions are improving there. Live in allentown, john rawlins, channel6 action news. Shirleen. But people still lined up, though for their free taste today as they hope form warmer weather and soon. Free is free. Philadelphia police are looking for the men who maced a couple in their 70s during a Home Invasion today. At the big board, this is video of vandals smashing in the windows at jims stakes on south treatment owner ken silver says around 3 00 a. M. Sunday morning some kids got a little too drunk, were upset that they were closed and took it out on their front glass as he explains it. The damage cost him about 2,000 to replace the panes. Instead of going to police, silver took the matter into his own hands and posted the Surveillance Video on social media. I think that the police have enough to worry about dealing with serious crime as you guys cover every day and i was more concerned about them wasting their time trying to handle something that i thought we could handle pretty well on social media. His Youtube Video has been viewed more than 50,000 times and he says theyre getting a lot of comments and that theyre close to figuring out just who is responsible. Now silver says if he finds out who it is and those people do not come forward then hell go to police. If you recognize anyone in the video and again it is going wildly viral on youtube right now, call jims stakes. Theyre trying to catch these guys. Brian and shirleen. Okay. Thank you alicia. It is time now for the action news traffic report on this messy friday afternoon ooh. Where is spring . Autumn marreese is a live in for matt pelman. How are we looking out there. Hi, brian and shirleen. You can see a lot of slush on the roads, low visibility out there and its very slick. You can see tire marks into the shoulder. We just had an accident clear right here. This is route 100 southbound at Phoenixville Pike but were seeing accidents pop up all over the region. Again because of the low visibility and the slick roadways. So, taking a look at the big picture we have an accident westbound right at montgomery. To keep you aware of and its very slow going in the westbound lanes taking about 45 minutes to go from the vine to the blue route right now. We also have an accident on route 1 north at hulmeville road. An accident just cleared on 95 right at the walt whitman bridge in the northbound lanes and so again slick spots all over the region. Lots of accidents to report. Fog on the bridges too. All of the bridges have reduced speeds. We have 25 miles on the ben franklin bridge and well show what its looking like out there right now. You can see the 25mile mark. Cars are moving but again low visibility and slick conditions. So, keep the speeds down out there. New jersey turnpike northbound and southbound speeds are reduced to 45 Miles Per Hour from the delaware memorial toll plaza to 195. Also the garden state parkway also has speeds reduced to 35 Miles Per Hour and in Galloway Township u. S. Nine at jimmy leads road lane shift because of the weather. Back to you brian and shirleen. Back edge of the storm is entering the far western suburbs of Lancaster County as the snow is beginning to shut off there. As we take a look at the radar double scan live you can see that that purple that is really take over wilmington, philadelphia trenton interior parts of southern new jersey. That is the heavy burst of snow but as you head to the west again towards lancaster, you can see the lighter colors of white and if not some gray near pottsville and again that western edge of Lancaster County where the snow is beginning to end. One great thing about double scan live radar, since we have our own radar that has dual pole meaning it sends out a signal horizontal as well as vertical were taking a look at the correlation coefficient mode here and where you see that very smooth area of pink and pinkish color that is showing similar shapes in the atmosphere with both radar beams. All of the particles in the atmosphere are basically snow. Theyre the same size. But where were seeing this definitive line here and where you get the break up in colors there are varying shapes so this is where the rainsnow line is right now just south of wilmington, just south of glassboro on the edge of hammonton and also Atlantic City. Millville it is just rain root now so a cool tool with double scan to show you exactly where that switchover is. In pennsylvania, so far in philadelphia picked up 2. 2inches of snow at the airport. All right adam joseph joining us now. The end is in sight here. The end of the snow and of winter. Yeah. But winters going linger unfortunately but the snow will end as we go at 6 45 this evening. As we take a look at double scan live radar were dealing with rain in southern areas right now and philadelphia to the north were still dealing with that heavy wet sloppy slushy snow. In fact, as we take a look at double scan live radar, as you head east of philadelphia towards medford lakes, route 70, 72, it is still heavy wet snow. The same for center city, same for Delaware County, Chester County all points to the north. The white is some lighter snow. The purple is the heavier snow but notice that rain line as of yesterday we showed you on future tracker it would make it up toward wilmington and glassboro and it is raining heavily all points to the south as well as the shore. Even up towards surf city now flipping over to rain and the same all the way down to the tip of cape may that is starting to wash some of that slush away. As we take a look at the numbers so far in boyertown 6inches of snow, media in Delaware County 5inches of snow, florence 4inches, voorhees 4inches of snow and west deptford so far 4inches of that heavy wet snow. Were pretty uniform across much of the area. Temperatures are at or above freezing area wide. Were near freezing allentown reading and lancaster and once the sun sets, well start to harden up some of that slush out there as those temperatures drop below freezing during the overnight hours. Satellite and radar low pressures to the south but you can see the back edge of the precipitation moving into the western suburbs and that will continue its journey off to the east. In fact, future tracker by 10 oclock most of the steady precipitation is off the coast, maybe some lingering showers here or there. But 32 in philadelphia, below freezing for trenton allentown, reading but still above freezing in southern areas but after midnight tonight, the rain and snow will be long gone but that slush will freeze pretty much everywhere with temps in the suburbs in the 20s, 32 for center city, so watch for some slick spots. Then on saturday, were going to watch another front approach from the north and west. Ahead of it, southerly winds will move the temperature up to 55, clouds giving way to some sun but as that front slips through in the evening there could be a spotty shower tomorrow evening but behind that it opens the door once again for fresh High Pressure coming in from canada with a combination of the high to the west and that low really developing into a beast of a storm in eastern can today, it will be breezy and much cooler on sunday as high temperatures drop 10 degrees from saturday down to 45. The exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, Philadelphia Union was supposed to play tonight, postponed until tomorrow. A mild day at 55 degrees. And then a lot cooler and brisk on sunday despite the sun only 45. And we are stuck in the 40s for monday and tuesday, so the beginning of spring having a hard time flexing its muscle so to speak but at least we will have some sun and then were back to normal come wednesday, 55. Mild thursday but damp with rain at 60 and a lingering shower on friday, 56 degrees. So we gain the sunshine as we head into the first four days of spring but the temperatures not so much. Theres a 60 on the board. Well take it. With rain. As long as weve got sunshine. Thank you adam. Freebie friday is coming up next. Optimistic.
