Reporter good good news things are looking up. As we look live at 95 these are the southbound lanes by cottman avenue and just up ahead just a bit ago from sky 6 we caught a huge vehicle fire in the southbound lanes. Chopper 6 was overhead here. This is the southbound side between cottman avenue and Bridge Street. You see the work truck there in flames but the firefighters got out there made pretty quick work of the situation. The fire now completely extinguished. Everything is out of the way and all southbound lanes are reopened. But as we come back out here live you can see the jam that were left with on the southbound side from woodhaven youre dealing with a lot of stopped traffic through this point approaching cottman down to the earlier vehicle fire scene approaching Bridge Street. So that southbound travel time of 40 minutes ideally should be 14. Nowhere close this afternoon but northbound you may have seen is even slower. Thats the gaper drain normal afternoon volume. Speeds like just 9 Miles Per Hour as you travel northbound by the betsy ross bridge. As you look tupper part of the atmosphere you can see the clouds moving in that trajectory coming in from the great lakes. That is a high pushes to the east well start to move that cloud cover and a front to the north and thats going to allow a little bit of sunshine through the upcoming weekend but also push those temperatures at if not above freezing by the end of the weekend. Matt pelman in the action News Traffic Center with an update matt, do you know how to tie a tie. I learned a couple years ago, yes indeed. It takes some practice. Good afternoon brian and shirleen. They were preparing him for his future were trying to prepare you for your afternoon ride home. Some extra traffic on 95 in delco. Southbound side we have a crash thats partially blocking the ramp from curlin street to the southbound lanes of 95 so thats attracting some attention and causing the extra slowing us a travel through that normally busy spot. And its even slower on this chunk of 95 in the great northeast. In fact, stopped at points between woodhaven the whole way on in to girard. We had that earlier vehicle fire southbound on 95 by Bridge Street that got us you have to a really bad start this afternoon. Also gave us extra heavy delays on the northbound side with speeds in the teens and you know how that goes. Those delays spill back onto the vine, those delays spill back onto the schuylkill so everything is backed up across town this afternoon. Also watching a number of accidents, a couple in frankford. Theres one along aramingo by 95. Weve got one on the boulevard northbound at tyson by Rolling Thunder skating rink. May not be rolling so well threw upper southampton bucks county. Weve got a crash along street road at davisville road an warning for you if youre a 422 driver. Tomorrow theyre shifting the westbound lane between 100 and stow onto the eastbound side so just one lane in each direction until next year but traffic pattern changes tomorrow during the mid day. Well check it again brian and shirleen at 5 oclock. All right matt thanks as always. Take a live look outside right now sky 6 a beautiful shot over Center City Philadelphia tonight. Its actually the weather over the weekend. A nice little surprise, a nice break from what weve been dealing with this week. As we take a look at the action cam which is out in clementon new jersey at Silver Lake Park and silver lake you can see it is frozen over. This is a good time to remind you especially with the warmer weather this weekend the kids may want to get out and play, please tell them to stay away from any body of water. You dont know how thick the ice is and it really hasnt been cold enough to make it thick enough to venture out on. As we look at double scan live radar we have clouds outer there this afternoon with some pops of sun here and there and temperaturewise, were better than yesterday. 32 degrees in philadelphia. Millville 32 in wilmington, 27 in allentown, 18 in the poconos. And a shore temperature between about 33 degrees and 34 down towards wildwood. But we still have a wind out there and that is dropping the numbers to more like 22 in philadelphia feeling like 22 in millville, nine in the poconos, 20 for reading or trenton and reading coming in around 25 degrees. You can see the clouds spilling in and we saw a decent amount of sun this morning. The clouds have kind of taken over but theyre very thin so you get the sun to penetrate through still and as this cloud cover continues to go to the south well break it up a little overnight but the clouds will win out through much of our friday night and the first part of saturday and then as this front continues to drift to the north on saturday afternoon, it will turn milder with temperatures in the low and the mid50s and a decent amount of sun especially south of philadelphia and then this boundary kind of flirt to our north on sunday so well call it breaks of sun for the second half of the weekend. It stays mild with temperatures near 50 degrees and the heavy snow is now moving way into the upper part of new york state and also northern parts of not only vermont but also New Hampshire and eventually this low to the west will collapse the system down over us but thats not until sunday night and early on monday morning and the call right now because its going to be so warm this weekend monday at 8 00 a. M. Most of us will begin our morning commute with rain showers on monday. It could mix to the north Allentown Trenton not looking at snow but there could be some sleet or freezing rain for a period of time late sunday or monday in those far northwestern suburbs. As of right now it looks like minor issues. Most of us will see light rain on monday with temperatures in the low 40s so its more about ponding on the roads with water than it is any kind of slush or ice. As we look at the forecast for tonight, lots of clouds, not as bitter, 1323 degrees. And the exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, 45 tomorrow. Were heading up to 50 on sunday but again not going to be full sunny days both days but well take the warmth and then well watch for that light rain sunday night into monday, mixing a little bit in the far northwest at 42. Turns sunny but breezy tuesday at 42. And then we go back below normal wednesday and thursday as an arctic front blasts through on thursday with maybe a couple of rain or snow showers and then the bottom falls out on friday. 22 for a high, seven for a low. That will be the coldest air weve seen this winter season and that leads up to valentines day. Wasnt that means. You go to the cuddle, stay warm under the covers with your loved one stay warm.
