Reporter good morning, tam l you heard karen talk about how some of those side streets are really the tough ones. This is one of those streets. This is gay street which is right off of main street here in manayunk and take a look behind me. You can see that this little car tried to make it down this road but looks like it got stuck into the snow, so the driver will have some work to do to get that out of here. Some of these streets that require some of those smaller vehicles, like a bobcat to come through and clear it out but take a look at this video showing you the work that the city of philadelphia had been doing all day yesterday throughout the day. They will again be doing a lot of snow clearing today as well. Now, they got most of the major streets out but there are a lot of people in south philadelphia we caught up with that were kind of dealing with the same issue with their smaller streets. Some of them waiting for those plows to come through as they cleared out their cars. As for center city they pushed a lot of that snow off up to the sidewalks which made it kind of hard to walk around there but the city says that they stopped all trash pickups yesterday because they were using those trash trucks as plow trucks. They had about 450 vehicles on the roadways and they had a number of crews working hard to try to clear as much as they could. Now, we caught up with some contractors who were finally glad to have some business. Most people dread snow but you guys,. Love it. Want to make my money. [laughter] i love it. Reporter this is how you make your pay. Love the snow, love the snow. Reporter okay, now as far as shoveling goes, this is tough snow. Thats because this isnt light and powdery right now. Remember all that sleet that we had after the snowfall . Well, theres that layer on top of it so it makes it really heavy to pick up. Youre going to have to scrape underneath it as well. Now, in the city of philadelphia, six hours after the conclusion of a storm, you if you do not clean off your sidewalk you could get al 50 fine. So, that is one thing to keep in mind. Also, if you want to let the city know that your street has not been plowed you can contact 311. However, they are asking that people not start putting in those recommendations untilly thursday. The Lehigh Valley continues to dig out from the highest snow totals in the region, 13. 7inches is the official total in allentown where action News Reporter gray hall joins us live. Good morning, gray. Reporter good morning to you, matt. Well, coming into allentown we didnt really see that much of a problem. Of course as you heard karen say, its when you get into the neighborhoods where youre going to have most of the problems. Just to give you some perspective, take a, who, were off of 12th and turner here in allentown. You can see some blacktop where that folks have been able to plow but if you look just inches over on the road, this is a problem folks are going to run into. This ice, this snow and ice. Of course it has frozen over because its so cold outside. Weve seen cars come through this neighborhood, folks for the most part theyre taking it easy s you see a car, theres another car coming right now. Weve also seen several plow trucks. Weve seen also some dump trucks in the area filled with snow. What we dont know is where theyre hauling that snow off to. So, the story of the morning will be if you have to get out into the elements, take it easy because a lot of these secondary roads have not been plowed just yet in these neighborhoods. Also, remember the sidewalks when you go outside, just take it easy but for now, like we said, the big story will be just getting out of your neighborhood onto those main streets. But once youre out on the main street it should be smooth sailing. Live in allentown, gray hall, channel6 action news. Matt. Thanks so much gray. Its march and the sun angle is higher and i think were probably even with clouds today, probably going to melt a little bit. Tomorrow when the sun comes out that should really start. It could still melt below freezing, right, because of the sun. It can because of the the ultraviolet rays warm the get into the ground and then that long wave creates heat and thats what melts it. And now you know. Storm tracker6 live double scan i was going the give a science lesson. [laughter] yes, that heat radiating out, you can start to warm up even through the clouds but tomorrow with the sun i think were going to start to melt quite a bit.
