Are looking at some rain moving in and it may start out as a little bit of snow and then of course be freezing rain before it changes over. This is all an issue in the northern suburbs so Winter Weather advisory kicks in at 6 oclock this evening. Doesnt end until 2 00 in the morning in points north through this region. I think northern bucks, northern Montgomery County which are in included initially will probably fall off after about 10 oclock but up in these areas straight past midnight theres the chance some of ice forming on roads as that precipitation comes in and remember, even if you see snow changing over to rain, that freezing rain is about the most dangerous sort of winter precipitation as it looks like its just rain on your windshield but its really freezing up on the roads and on the sidewalks beneath your feet and your tires. Sunshine early will quickly give way to cloud cover and then there is that precipitation farther to the west. 16 degrees right now in philadelphia, so like yesterday morning, were starting out very cold. 12 degrees in allentown, 9 degrees in trenton. 11 in wilmington. 15 in reading. So, on the bus stop this morning, sun, quickly mixing with clouds as we go through the six to eight clock period. 14 degrees on the bus stop at 6 00, 16 at 8 oclock. Obviously bundle those kids up this morning for very raw conditions even though there isnt much wind and while were going for a high of 38 thats later tonight so keep them bundled for this afternoon s walk home as were probably still going to be just a couple of degrees above freezing, maybe freezing in some suburbs. There is a big warmup on the way. Between that, now and then youve got some freezing rain up north. A lot to talk about in the seven day. Thats just ahead. Northern california and nevada are bracing for more storms and flooding. Intense weekend rains claimed at least four lives out west. The rushing river reached flood stage yesterday leaving entire neighborhoods under water and the tv news photographer for our San Francisco station was hurt after his van got crushed in the middle of a mudslide. Around here we are preparing for the Early Arrival of spring. Yeah, were going get a couple of days that look nice. Not so today and theres that chance of freezing rain and maybe a little snow in northern suburbs later tonight. As we take a look outside right now weve got storm tracker6 live double scan and were dry for the morning commute. Sky6 this morning showing us up at Spring MountainMontgomery County good morning to make snow as it is ice cold out there. Not much wind either. I know it looks like the snow is kind of blowing around here but thats because of the snow making equipment. The winds themselves are calm in a lot of spots this morning but its cold again. Temperature is 16 degrees in philadelphia. Winds calm as i mentioned so were not really talking wind chills this morning but obviously it is very cold out there. Some suburbs a little colder than 16 even down as low as 12 and in the pine barrens down Single Digits temperaturewise. We are expecting clouds to overtake us pretty quickly and then there is precipitation farther to the west thats going to break up and really only pass through the northern suburbs later in the evening hours. It does look like it will be a little snow and some freezing rain. More on that in a second. Temperatures today 16 degrees by 8 oclock. 24 by 10 oclock. By noon, 33. And notice how the numbers keep rising. Our high today is going to be 38 but you wont see it between 8 oclock and 6 oclock as it will take until 6 oclock to get up to 36 degrees. That 38 happens later in the evening hours probably around 9 oclock in philadelphia and all of these high temperatures will very likely be highs that we see later in the evening hours. 35 degrees in allentown. Working our way toward 38 in philadelphia and wilmington through the day and eventually getting to 40 in millville and cape may. Again, late day or evening highs. And then the precipitation profile. All the way through the day up until 5 oclock we expect to be essentially dry. As we get past 6 oclock, though, in the northern suburbs youll have to be on the lookout for some icy precipitation. Now, this may fall as a little bit of snow at times but it could just seem like its falling as rain. Keep in mind that with temperatures only slowly rising in those Northern Areas it could actually be freezing rain. Could be light icing but nonetheless a possibility of this and i know the model is holding this off until after 9 oclock. We actually are going to ask you to look out for this any time after about 6 oclock or 7 oclock tonight. 11 oclock you can see some snow, some of that blue still there. Warm air from the south may try and change this over to all rain although i really thing its up until about midnight maybe even 2 00 a. M. Before some of the Northern Areas totally see an end to the ice. So our biggest concerns would be those Northern Areas this evening where there is a chance of some light icing really anywhere from pottstown and quakertown on to the north and then eventually it changes over to all rain. Wednesday morning by the way we are looking at a little bit of precipitation bit looks like its probably going get out of here pretty quickly and then we transition to clouds and perhaps some sun tomorrow tomorrow. Lots of changes coming in this seven day. Late freezing rain today. On the way we slowly climb to 38. Wont hit the high until this evening. Tomorrow mostly cloudy a little rain in the morning but it does get milder in the afternoon a high of 51 and then thursday beautiful, 60 degrees. Friday cloudy, 53 but that temperature will drop during the Late Afternoon and evening. We go down to freezing at night and then brisk and cold conditions on saturday with a high of 38 and it now looks like later in the day or at night we could be in to a mixed precipitation event maybe some rain, maybe some wet snow, perhaps a little sleet mixed in. And then sun mix mixing with clouds on sunday, a dry afternoon. Martin luther king day looks a little milder 46 but unfortunately rain and drizzle for monday in the fork. Remember when were not on the air you can always get the latest Weather Information 6abc. Com weather.
