Walk to that last end of the commute to the office because we are looking at milder conditions, you can also see clouds overnight have broken up and well probably see a fair amount of sunshine early with partly sunny skies. Here are the current numbers. 46 degrees in allentown at this hour. Yesterday we were about 10 degrees cooler. In fact a lot of suburbs were in the 30s but this morning its the 40s and 50s. 52 in philadelphia, 50 in trenton, 57 in cape may. Light winds, too, which is also kind of nice early. By 10 oclock 55 and then this afternoon also looks like a big improvement. 63 by noon. Your high is 73 degrees at 3 oclock. We will fall back to 66 degrees by 6 oclock. So were up there in the 70s for a couple of hours but thats it. Karen, were getting even milder tomorrow but for the afternoon commute tomorrow we could be looking at some showers and thunderstorms. Details on that coming up. All right david. Its another day of headaches for commuters trying to find a way to work with no city buses, no broad or market frankford line, most of your trolleys not running, just a mess for commuters. A lot of that many turned Regional Rails. This is the area yesterday we saw problems. Chestnut hill west Paoli Thorndale fox chase. We saw one hour delays on all of those lines. Acrosstheboard we saw half an hour delays on all lines. So these were the ones that were the worst of the worst i guess you can say but you really need to watch for areas of overcrowding and then last night, we had even more problems with trains just being completely canceled because picketers were blocking rail yards. Well have to see what happens today and which lines give us the biggest headaches today but you want to expect huge problems with your Regional Rails once again if you take that as an option so a lot of people are hitting the roads and thats why we just saw gridlock as people try to drive through the he city and just not going anywhere. This is a live look at the vine street expressway at north broad street right here so you can see the vine street expressway and local vine near north broad street things are running fine. Now if you want to get to work a few hours earlier than you did yesterday, that might be a good bet. Schuylkill expressway still cant take that. Westbound completely blocked at university with that you say construction so thats a mess and thats going to last for at least another half an hour matt and tam. Thank you, karen. Lets switch now live to Annie Mccormick who is in center city. Shes been following the talks between septa and the union. And annie so far it doesnt seem to be going well. Reporter no, tam and matt in fact the union said they rejected a proposal that they did receive from septa late tuesday. Septa said in statement around 1 00 a. M. That they concluded talks but they will continue those talks later on this morning. Well, this is video of picketers, more than 4700 transport Workers Union employees walked off the job at midnight yesterday. Local 234 would not go into details about their proposed contract they received late tuesday only saying it barely had anything new and was quickly rejected. However all along guaranteed full Pension Plans have been the deal breakers for the union. Now, members picketed across the city at septa headquarters. Other unions joined in. At one point picketers disrupted Regional Rail at the height of rush hour. According to septa median salaries for employees is 68,000 and they are working to find a contract that remains fair and affordable for the taxpayers and riders who fund septa. Congressman bob brady is now involved in talks and said whether it be city, state or federal dollars hes working to fine money. Im afraid it went one dame i hope it dont go two. I mean with us being on strike the way we are, theyre not getting medical, you know, everything stops. So, it doesnt do anybody any good. But then you have to look at the other side of the coin. Reporter now, congressman brady did say last night he felt that they were close to a deal. However, there is no deal at this point. Now, as for the disruptions on the Regional Rails, septa did get an unjunction to make sure that the Regional Rail does move smoothly. They did that last night. They are hoping that that will again not be a problem today. If this goes several days and looks like it could go into election day, they said that they will head to federal court and put in an injunction so they can get the septa worksers back on the job for election day. Reporting live in center city Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Matt and tam, back to you. Thanks annie. Action News Reporter gray hall is talking with commuters on the Regional Rails. He is at septas olney station. Good morning, gray. Reporter good morning to you matt. All quiet here now but of course that is going to change throughout the morning. Safe to say that no one who uses septa wanted to see this strike happened but it d here we are day two, still no deal reached and the biggest impact to those thousands and thousands of commuter whose actually depend on septa. Lets show you some video we shot yesterday as folks were dealing with this strike. A lot of people now depending on the Regional Rails as a backup mode of transportation. One commuter sent action News Pictures tuesday showing the inside of suburban station. You can see those long lines stretching throughout the terminal. Not a fun experience for those passengers. With so many using the Regional Rails of course there are backups causing back logs and also those really crowded trains. The strike means that buses trolleys subways they have all stopped which is of course impacting as we said hundreds of thousands of riders. The Regional Rail system continues to operate despite the strike. Those workers belong to a Different Union but trying to get around still has been a real nightmare. Passengers are hoping for a quick resolution that will ends this strike, get things back to. No we actually talked to some pass injuries about how they typically get around. The market frankford el line is what i get on takes me 10 minutes to get to where i need to. This morning it took me an hour 20 minutes to get anywhere. Reporter you upset about the strike. Im so upset. If i dont come to work how. I going to pay my bills . Reporter all right. So, back out live people have reason to be frustrated. Word of advice you need the allow some extra time for your a. M. And also evening commute until this is all hammered out. Those travel headaches will continue. The last time septa went on strike happened back in 2009. That strike lasted six days. Well see what happens with this one. Everyone hoping for a quick resolution. Live in oleine gray hall channel6 action news. Matt, tam. Thank you gray. Employers and Government Entities will once again use private shuttles to try and get people to work today. The city of philadelphia says at least 800 City Employees used their service to he show up yesterday. The shuttle runs through the Municipal Building across from he city hall and resume at 6 00 a. M. Well keep you updated on any sets of talks septa talks plus problems with the morning commute throughout the day. Watch our special reports on 6abc. Com and the 6abc news app. They start at 7 00 a. M. Lets talk about this warmup. Nice day to get out there go for a run blow off some steam from the strike. Absolutely. Storm tracker6 live double scan right now shows that you were dry and stamp right, its a nice morning and an even better afternoon ahead. Take a look as theres the platt bridge. Traffic kind of light on the platt right now which is nice and probably a little extra volume on the roads again with that septa strike continuing. Karen was talking about this yesterday and those traffic builds a little bit later on well see if that he repeats itself. 46 degrees in allentown, 46 in reading right now. 47 in lancaster. Most of these numbers in the 40s are certainly cool but remember yesterday that in the spots where you see the 40s we were in the 30s yesterday so we are definitely looking better this morning. 52 in philadelphia. 57 in cape may. Winds are very light. Cloud cover overnight has cleared out. Youll need your sunglasses on most our highways and by ways this morning after the sun comes up later and then a few high clouds start to streak in and later this afternoon well probably wind up with more of a partly sunny look. Well call it partly sunny in the lehigh valley. Warmer, a high of 72 down the shore also an improvement, still coolish in the 60s but upper 60s. 67 degrees on the boardwalk in atlantic city. Partly sunny overall and not as chilly as yesterday. And in philadelphia, partly sunny and warmer this afternoon with a high of 73 degrees. A little bit of a breeze but not bad. Winds out of the southwest at seven to 14 miles an hour and partly sunny skies with those high clouds. Then overnight tonight partly cloudy and mild, 58 degrees is the he low. So, we were in the 30s and 40s yesterday. The 40s and 50s this morning and tomorrow morning up close to 60 as we get out in the morning. So thats g now tomorrow afternoon we have an issue. Through the morning and into the afternoon well see sunshine starting to give way to some clouds starting out in the north and west and then we get into the afternoon and evening and a cold front is going to come in that will trigger some late day and evening showers and maybe even a couple of gusty thunderstorms. You start to see the model trying to hinder at that. Where those hit we could be looking at not only a lot of leaves and wet stuff on the ground but maybe a couple of tree branches down. It looks like most of that is off the coast by about seven or 8 oclock. Your exclusive accuweather 7day, today beautiful, partly sunny, nice and warm, a high of 73. And then tomorrow very warm, a high of 79. But in the afternoon there is that chance of a shower or a thunderstorm and behind that system blustery and chilly on friday with a high of just 59 degrees. And that cooler condition carries into the weekend. Saturday breezy and cool, 62 for the high for that unity cup soccer championship at Citizens Bank park. And then we set our clocks back one hour on saturday night. Sunny and breezy behind it on sunday 59. The early look at election day looks pretty good. Sunny he for the most part and 62. Okay. Septa thing is you got to walk. Thats not your department. Weather is great. Thank you david. 4 40 now. We have more stories you didnt see last night. Gun violence on the streets of wilmington leaves a man fighting for his life. The search is on for the hitandrun driver who left a man critically injured in south jersey. Karen. Traffic really heavy already westbound at University Avenue as theyre in the process of finally clearing out that construction, at least reopening the schuylkill expressway. Well talk about the strike, how you can get to work, all that when action news comes right back. 4 43. Good morning everyone. Taking a live look at mobile6. I have the feeling that like over the last two days, six out of the 10 times weve taken this theyve hit a stop sign or a stop light proving you to that there are no traffic violations when it comes to mobile6 but it is day two of the septa once again were expecting a lot of traffic out there. Green. It is green. Here we go. Yes, mobile6 following the rules of the road but karen everybody else trying to follow the rules today. Theyre going to be a little frustrateed. People were talking about what gridlock we had in Center City Yesterday at the top of the show we were saying karen is going to give you the good alternate to get around the traffic jams. I have nothing. Hard to find good alternates. Best thing to do try to travel at an unusual time if you can get to work even earlier thats a good idea. Of course we have the city buses subways trolleys not run sewing people hitting the Regional Rails and they are running and they make stops in the city. I mean, the trouble is as you get closer to the city youre getting more and more congested so its questionable how helpful it is but nonetheless if you want to get for instance to the University City station you can take the elwyn line the newark line the airport line so maybe youre not used to doing that but you could do that to get there. Also if youre up in the northeast you could take the trenton line, there are stops all along holmesburg torresdale you can get to any one of those symptoms. In north philadelphia you cant take the broad street subway of course but what you can do is get to the north broad station broad and lehigh and you could take that into like jefferson and theres no market frankford. Thats probably one of the big problems. Theres just no way to get eastwest in the city but you can get on the Regional Rails at 30th and get off at jefferson. A lot of people on twitter yesterday were asking me about patco. Patco is running, thats this red line right here so patco is running. You can take patco but if you normally take patco and then hop on Something Else your connections arent running and thats probably one of the biggest issues so were watching for delays to form. We had big delays on the schuylkill westbound. The schuylkill was shut down with construction but here at university the delay has cleared. Things looking better. We have an accident over here in new Hanover Township romig road at rosen berry road. Hey attelets its mild if youre going to be walking to work. 52 degrees right now in philadelphia, clear and dry and warmer. High of 73 matt. Lets us know how the strike is affecting you by sharing your stories with us. Use 6abcaction on social media or email us directly at join the action at 6abc. Com. Im looking at a temperature at 6 oclock of about 50 degrees, down 49 as we head up to about 8 oclock this morning. So, bundle them up. This afternoon they can probably go with shorts and ts. Looks as though weve got some picketers already at this early hour. Day two going on. Yesterday we saw long, long lines and crowded trains for Regional Rail. We saw a lot of frustration on the roads as well, a lot of people in their vehicles so as this goes on as negotiators continue to try to come to a deal be ready with whatever your alternatives are to get where you need to go today. Remember how rush hour lasted until like 10 oclock yesterday . Yeah. I mean, it was a mess. We were doing a 10 oclock cut in and there were hour delays Regional Rails, 95 was so heavy. Big impact.
