A threeyearold is in the hospital this morning after ingesting crack cocaine. A West Philadelphia Day Care Center noticed the girl chewing on an empty plastic packet yesterday and then rushed the child to care. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is outside southwest detectives as police try to figure out how this child got the drugs, annie. Reporter and erin, this morning that little girl still remains at chop. Like you said investigators here at south detectives are trying to figure out the source of the drugs and doctors are working with investigators to try to figure out exactly how much she ingested. This happened around 9 00 a. M. Yesterday. That was when the little girl was in day care when employees noticed the young girl chewing on an empty plastic packet before breakfast was served. Police say the packet had white residue and looked like packets used to hold illegal drugs. The child was rushed to chop by the day care employees and after a battery of tests doctors confirm crack cocaine was found in her system. Police are investigating how her child got her hands on the drugs. Doing an investigation on the Day Care Center and the Police Department will do an investigation on the home where the kid lives and the Department Human services will be contacted here in the city also joining the investigation so three agencies at this point will be investigating this. Most important part is trying to determine where this crack cocaine came from. This is dangerous stuff. This Daycare Center houses 15 kids from the ages of one to through nine so we want to get to the bottom of what happened here reporter and police are commending the quick thinking of the day care workers who did rush her to chop immediately. It was later when she was at chop that the Police Officers were called. Now, she was told to stay overnight at chop. Its not clear when the little girl will be released from the hospital. Two sky divers on the mend after colliding during a jump in florida. Fire rescue crews say both sky divers were able to deploy their chutes after crashing into each other during yesterdays jump. The second skydiver landed on a country road 4 miles away from that drop zone. He was flown to the hospital in critical condition. Thanks karen. A high speed chase just outside houston ended when a suspected carjacker slammed into an innocent driver. The whole chase was caught on camera as you can see here. A passenger in the suspect vehicle was ejected, what a nasty crash. The driver ran away but officers eventually caught up with him.
