Where 19 of the 75 member Villanova Public Safety Department would get Police Academy training and carry guns starting next fall. The protesters some of whom placed inscriptions promoting nonviolence on this banner say they are aware inmany schools have armed officers but say it would be a bad fit for villanova. We talk about our values here and i dont see how bringing guns into our community has any adds anything to us. I think its a response in fear and i dont think guns are a solution to guns. And i dont think that this alliance with the Catholic Values of this university. Reporter the protesters want the decision to arm officers to at least be put on hold and then to be able to meet with University President father peter donahue. Some of the group want more. Primarily to demand a repeal of the policies that father peter and the board of trustees has put in place to arm the department of public safe advertisement but others on this campus of 10,000 say they are comfortable with the proposed arming of officers citing threats and Mass Shootings at other schools. Its a good idea. Why. Help us feel a bit more protected. If you think about it the university is kind of like a small to medium sized city itself so having cops here armed would not be a bad idea. The university of delaware is warning students to be on alert this weekend after an attempted Sexual Assault of a student on campus. Police are investigating the incident that happened between 12 30 and 1 30 yesterday morning. The victim tells police she was walking on Academy Street near smythe hall when a man grabbed her. She says he pushed her to the ground and attempted to remove an article of clothing and the victim says she kicked the man and was able to run away. Two men from philadelphia are under arrest in connection with a deadly Home Invasion in delaware. Delaware state police along with pennsylvania authorities arrest edsall leap shabazz ined. He and Matthew Harrington broke into a home and shot three people. Two died. Harrington turned himself in earlier this week. Shabazz is on jail a Million Dollars bail as he waits for extradition back to delaware. There is a good deal of concern and a good deal of confusion among parents at Bayard TaylorElementary School in north philadelphia. They got word of a woman threatening some students with a gun yesterday. Authorities tracked down the woman but no gun has been found. The police didnt find a gun and the woman who allegedly threatened them hasnt been charged with anything but the parents here remain upset about what they see as a lack of police protection. He was one of four students who exchanged words with a woman outside the schoolyard when she reprimanded them for cursing. When she told her to shut up the boys say she threatened them with a gun. She went to her car, she pulled out the gun. Reporter the police traction down the 39yearold woman and she gave them consent to search her car and house. They didnt find a gun. The school sent Children Home yesterday with this note from the principal. It assured parents that Philadelphia Police and School Police would be here during arrival and dismissal. Parents were upset when they found no police this morning. Why there was no Police Security in this school at all when my son my grandson was threatened yesterday with a gun. Reporter the School District says the police were unaware that the principal told parents they would see extra protection this morning. An officer was stationed here at dismissal time. The School Principal had no comment. Parents say gun or no gun, the kids need more police protection. There are Armed Security guards, theyre armed police officers. Theyre saying theres no funding for Public Schools anymore and i feel that as a parent we do need security. A funeral mass for threeyearold Brendan Creato was held this morning at Holy Saviour Church in westmont. Brendans father reported him missing last tuesday. Police found the boys body not far from that home three hours later. The cause of the death still hasnt been determined and no arrests have been made. Pennsylvania state senators are exploring whether they can out of the attorney general kathleen kane. A special Bipartisan Committee will examine kanes ability to continue her job while her law license is suspended. The committee could recommend removing kane from office under a constitutional provision that has never been used before. Kane has been charged with perjury and obstruction. Of course the big weather story is Hurricane Patricia. It went from a Tropical Storm to the strongest hurricane on record in 30 hours, had 200 Miles Per Hour maximum sustained winds earlier today. Theyre now down to 190 Miles Per Hour but this is potentially catastrophic. If we zoom in you can see how this is really within moments of making landfall someplace between manzanillo and porta have i quart today. The storm surge could be up to 20 feet. The winds devastating and also the rain will really intensify as it continues to move inlands. So, this shows that with the mountains over mexico, this storm will weaken dramatically as it heads inlands over the weekend. The mountains just kind of rip it up. However it will still have an abundant source of moisture. The coast of mexico could get close to 5inches of rain. Really the bigger problem is the storm surge and the winds. This storm could regenerate. Could get 7inches of rain overcorpus christi into houston. This could cause flash flooding. We could tap into some of that moisture by thursday and bring us a much needed soaking. It wont be a Tropical Storm by then, it will just be a remnant.
