Investigator say colon was driving a friends 2006 infiniti with his brother when they smashed into the two at a high rate of speed. The owner of the car went to police shortly after learning about the accident but police had to build their case. These investigations are very difficult proving somebody was driving a vehicle. There was two people in the car at the time so we had a little difficulty in proving the fact that he may have been driving. So, it just took some extra investigation. Reporter an arrest warrant was issued for colon who remains on the run. Aliceas mother has recovered from the injuries but the emotional scars will be lasting. Reporter and police say colon likes to frequent the kensington area especially the area of wishart and front and investigators also want the public to know this. The runner who was struck and killed by a truck yesterday in southampton Burlington County was a middle schoolteacher. 29yearold Allison Mcginnis taught english and Language Arts at Helen Fort Middle School in pemberton township. She was running on route 206 at 2 oclock yesterday when she was hit. The truck then struck trees and overturned. 31yearold david eldridge, the passenger in the truck was also killed. The driver, Patrick Miller was flown to Cooper University hospital for treatment. A former Pennsylvania State Police Firearms instructor will spend two weeks in jail for accidentally shooting and killing a colleague. A Montgomery County judge also sentenced richard schrete to three to eight months of house arrest. 26yearold trooper david kedra was killed when schroders gun went off in a Training Session at Plymouth Township Police last september. A chemical leak at a delaware refinery sent three people to the hospital today. The incident happened at noon at pbf energy in delaware city. All three were dee contaminated on site and taken to the hospital as a precaution. This is the same refinery where a fire broke out last friday. Investigators say a problem with a chemical reactor sparked the flames. Fortunately nobody was hurt in that incident. We have seen mostly sunny skies today and were in for a beautiful late august evening. But warm temperatures will try to make a comeback this weekend and beyond. Allentown 81, trenton 81, Sea Isle City 78 degrees. The last friday night of august is very comfortable. Its 83 degrees in philadelphia, wilmington and millville 81. Allentown 77. The boardwalk in Atlantic City with that sea breeze 76 degrees. This is part of the reason why it feels so nice. Dewpoints generally 60 degrees or below. That indicates a very dry air mass, not a lot of humidity in the air. However, that will be changing as we head through the weekend. By sunday the dewpoints will be in the low to mid 60s, so thats not oppressive but compared to today, it will be slightly humid. You will feel the difference in the air mass and also by sunday, philadelphia should be up around 90 degrees likely starting our next heat wave of the year. If not they say classrooms like this one at play and learn in royersford will sit empty when the school years begins. Without funding from the state, prek providers must decide whether to remain closed or seek bridge financing to pay the bills until a budget is passed. Democratic senator tom carper of delaware has officially announced that he is backing president obamas nuclear deal with iran. Carper is the 30th senator to do so. The agreement seeks to keep iran from building a nuclear bomb in exchange for International Sanctions relief. Carper says the deal is a good one for america. Its just off the coast of the Dominican Republic and the Dominican Republic has mountains that are 10,000 feet tall so what will happen, it will bring a lot of rain from erika, mudslides, flooding possible but those mountains will also weaken erika and the latest track has it also moving right over cuba and that would weaken it to a tropical depression. Notice the track has shifted well to the west since yesterday and then could become a Tropical Storm as it reemerges near the gulf of mexico, likely hitting west coast of florida as a minimal Tropical Storm maximum sustained winds of only 40 miles per hour. Really erika will be a rainstorm if and when it hits florida. The National Hurricane center would issue Tropical Storm watches for florida but theyre waiting to see how much is left of erika once it makes through the mountains of the Dominican Republic and ill have an update on action news at 11 00.
