A thousand miles. So, this is going to cause a lot of travel problems for the first half of the weekend. Now, the arrival time, that moisture will be moving up from the south to the north so it will be overtaking southern delaware, central delaware and the far southern end of new jersey between now and about 8 oclock. It will be moving into philadelphia primarily in the form of snow between 8 00 and up across the northern Lehigh Valley and the poconos between 10 00 and midnight. What you get from the system depends on your location. For details on that lets head over to meteorologist adam joseph. Yeah, it will make three stops. It will first go to the north and west where well see most of the snow and a period of icing as well. So it begins as snow overnight tonight and an extended period of snow into the wee hours of saturday morning but there will also be a transition zone as it tries to fliptory to rain anywhere between Downingtown Pottstown Quakertown to allentown as far north as easton that there could be a brief period of some freezing rain that accumulates a light coating of ice on top of the snow in those far northwestern suburbs. Right along i95 any of the towns you see on the map here and all points in between its briefly snow. And it quickly changes to rain around 2 oclock, 3 oclock in the morning and were looking at a half inch to an inch of rain in this region which will wash away much of the snow that does initially accumulate. Far to the south and east, shore communities in southern parts of delaware just a few flakes at first and then a soaking rain of more than 1 inch. If theres a zone were going to target that could see some freezing rain between about 4 00 a. M. And 9 00 a. M. After the snow, were looking at about a tenth to a quarter of an inch of ice glazing on top of the power lines and also some of the trees and road surfaces between downingtown pottstown, allentown and again as far north as easton. And then probably a little bit more snow and then it all moves out and then we get a break in the action on sunday and then snow moves in sunday night. One storm in the beginning one storm at the end. Lets take them one at a time, though. Storm tracker 6 live double scan showing that right now were dry. It actually is reaching the ground in baltimore reporting a mixture of some snow and rain also in annapolis, so that moisture will be moving up from the south as we head through the evening hours. In philadelphia likely start as snow but there will be a quick changeover to rain. Temperatures show that this is a marginal temperature event nor snow. 36 trees in philadelphia, maids it up to 42 degrees, thats 2 degrees above normal today. Allentown its 35. Millville 35. Trenton 35. Wilmington 35. And redsing also 35 degrees. A popular number. Satellite6 along with action radar showing this moisture is really racing up from the south. This storm system is going to be moving at about thrive Miles Per Hour so its going to be a quick hit and it will be tapping into warmer air from the atlantic so that will cause the changeover. So, future tracker showing in philadelphia when it first moves in, around 10 oclock we will likely see snow. You can see that rain across south jersey and delaware. As we head to the overnight hours, we get that changeover around the i95 corridor around 3 oclock you can see that icing to the north and then the Lehigh Valley, northern berks county, thell be snow. Most of our viewing area by the time you wake up tomorrow morning, 7 oclock in the morning its rain. Snow across the poconos. And then it really lessens in intensity around lunchtime but thats when we get the colder air moving in so thats when well see another changeover back to snow before it moves out by tomorrow evening. So expected as snow south jersey and delaware, were looking at the possibility of a slushy coating to perhaps an inch. This will happen tonight and then its all washed away by rain in the overnight hours. The i95 corridor 1 to 3 inches of snow before we get that rain, so that will wash a lot of that away. Also some slush. The far northwestern suburbs this is where we will see the highest accumulation of snow. 3 to 5inches of snow. There will be some mixing in with the rain and i really think the main concern is the possibility of ice accumulation. Future tracker showing the far northwest suburbs by 9 oclock looking at about. 10 to just under a quarter inch of ice. Its not going to be the same as the freezing drizzle last sunday. This will be ice on top of the snow. So that period of icing between about 4 oclock in the morning and 9 oclock in the morning for our far northwest suburbs. Were looking at power lines and trees getting coated so be careful on bridges and overpasses and any sidewalks or driveways that arent treated could get very slick. So, the call from accuweather for tonight, we get snow to start. Then that mix and that change to rain in the overnight hours. 28 to 31 degrees. We hit those temperatures before midnight and then temperatures will be rising. So the exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, we have a messy mix tomorrow. 39 degrees the high.
