East Norriton Police arrived at the home to find joanna unresponsive. She was shot in the head. Neither she nor her unborn baby could be saved. At first detectives determined miller was negligent but not criminally liable in his handling of the firearm but in a news release today the Montgomery County d. A. s office says after a lengthy investigation miller is now in fact charged with involuntary manslaughter. Part of it reads forensic and ballistic tests conducted over the last two years showed that the victim was shot at a close range. It goes on stating the investigation also revealed that miller as a state Police Trooper hm standard knowledge of basic and mandatory procedures of gun safety and handling. Reporter now, miller was arraigned today his bond set at 100,000. He has waived his preliminary hearing. For now reporting live in norristown bob brooks channel6 action news. Monica. Thank you bob. In new jersey one person was killed in an Early Morning house fire here in Burlington County. Now an investigation is under way into just how those flames started. New jersey correspondent Nora Muchanic live on the scene at cornell avenue in pemberton township with that story. Hi, nora. Reporter hi, monica. At this point police are telling us that he do not think that this fire was suspicious but they are still working to determine the exact cause. Meanwhile neighbors here in pembertons lake valley section say they did not know the victim well and were horrified to wake up this morning to see flames shooting out of the second story of this split level home. Oh, the blaze was just so intense. Reporter this is home video of the deadly fire as it raged around 5 30 this morning on the 400 block of cornell avenue in pemberton. Neighbor gus ramirez shot it on his phone. The flame was about 5 feet above the chimney shooting straight out. Reporter sylvia and George Johnson across the street woke up to the fire. We woke up and looked out and we seen the flames shooting out of the top of the house there and then all the fire trucks and stuff. Reporter Pemberton Police were first on the scene. They got 71yearold estaban riff vare are the homeowner to safety but the flames were too intense to rescue a female resident in her 40s flapped an upstairs bedroom and died there. What you some difficulty in locating her because the portion of the room that she was in had collapsed and so firefighters had to do some extra searching. Debris was on top of her. She was seriously burned to the point where were not comfortable with making positive identification at this time. Reporter youll be using dental records. If theyre available. We hope that there are dental. That that will take more investigation. Reporter a team of investigators from various agencies spent the day examining the fire scene and brought in a sniffer dog to look for accelerants. Oxygen was being used in the home and may have been contributed to the spread and intensity of the flames. Neighbors say that that people who lived in this house largely kept to themselves. I knew her but its like not by visiting or nothing like that just if she came out and i came out and we said hi, how are you, that type of thing but that was it. Reporter back live now where the house has been boarded up this afternoon, were told that a daughter of the victim and the victims brother both live in this house but that neither were home at the time of the fire. Investigators are on the scene tonight here on Seagull Drive in avalon where flames destroyed two multimillion dollar homes. It all started at about 7 45 this morning. More than a hundred firefighters responded to the scene. It took them more than an hour to get the fire under control. Challenge is the body of fire. Two fairly large dwellings with multiple siding and things like that. Once they get going, you need a lot of water. Three people including a newborn baby were able to escape. Officials tell action news both homes are a total loss. Remnants of this weeks noreaster are still lingering around the Delaware Valley. I really think the key time to watch for any accumulating snow will be saturday night into sunday morning. Late tonight into tomorrow morning, we do get some of that light precipitation moving in. Starts as some light snow north and west along i95 starts as a mix, rain south and east but tomorrow temperatures climb into the 40s. So that means any of the snow or sleet will change over very quickly to rain showers all day long. Except for the poconos. But saturday night into sunday morning, this is when we will see a changeover back to snow across our entire viewing area. Light snow that com leave some d leave accumulation on sunday morning. The two discussed trade and nato before speaking to american and foreign reporters. Thats when President Trumps wiretapping allegations again took center stage. Well have more on that from washington coming up tonight at 5 30. Meantime secretary of state Rex Tillerson says hes putting north korea on notice. Tillerson called for a new policy between the u. S. And north korea during his visit to south korea today. He said the u. S. Has spent too much time and energy on strategies that have failed. According to tillerson military action is an option. If they elevate the threat of their Weapons Program to a level that we believe requires action, that option is on the table. But we are hopeful that by taking these steps and we have many, many steps we can take before we get to that point, that we hope that will persuade north korea to take a different course of action. That is our desire. Tillersons comments came at a time of high tensions on the Korean Peninsula amid concerns over recent missile launches from the north. Five alarm fire destroyed an Apartment Building under construction in raleigh north carolina. A firefighter was injured by falling glass. Five other people suffered from smoke inhalation. Investigators are waiting for the debris to cool before they can fully examine the site for a cause. Tonight we are learning more about the man accused of killing an emt after he stole her ambulance and then ran over her with it. 44yearold Yadira Arroyo was a 14 year veteran of the new york fire department. Last night she and her partner had gotten out of the vehicle to confront a man who was riding on the back of their ambulance. Well, he got past them and jumped in the drivers seat. Tried to go back to the vehicle to drag him out and then in seconds he reverse the car so hard and slam her. Bystanders jumped onto the driver and held him down until police arrived. Officials say the suspect is 25yearold Jose Gonzalez who has been arrested 31 times. Tonight he stands charged with murder in connection to the incident. The Environmental Protection agency is warding michigan 100 million after the flint water crisis. Cost cutting measures in that city resulted in and tainted Drinking Water but the epa grant will help the city replace lead Service Lines and improve infrastructure. That announcement comes on the heels of trumps budget. In it there were massive cuts to the epa but the agency says michigan does not have to worry, it will still get all of the money. J. C. Penney is planning to shut down 138 Stores Nationwide including four in our area. The stores at the king of prussia Willow Grove Park philadelphia mills and the rio grande plaza will shut their doors in june. The company will start liquidating them next month. 5,000 positions will be impacted across the country. J. C. Penney says the closures are the result of trying to remain profitable at a time when a lot of people are simply shopping online. Nasa giving us a closer look at one of saturns moons. These are new images from nas nasas spacecraft. The craft closest ever encounter with the moon casini captures images of what looks to be a ring around the icy orb. So, were not talking about a big storm. If you look at all the computer models, the gfs printing out the most inly if, even here less than 2inches. We heard from one of the Top Democrats on those committees who said fbi director james comey can put all of this to rest on monday once he testifies before those committees. In washington, Stephanie Ramos channel6 action news monica. Thank you stephanie. A laptop belonging to one of its agents was stolen. Authorities say the laptop was taken during a car break in outside the agents home in brooklyn. Could, to Police Sources it did couldnt taint floor plans for trump tower. However, the device itself has multiple layers of security and is not allowed to contain classified information. And sources tell abc news the white house fence jumper may have been on the grounds there for up to 15 minutes before being caught by the secret service. 26yearold Jonathan Tran was taken into custody last saturday. Sources say tran set off multiple alarms but security failures allowed him to bypass other sensors. He may also have sneaked past a east wing guard post that is not routinely staffed. Secret Service Officials are now conducting a formal review of that incident. Murder mystery in philadelphias overbrook section has investigators searching for a killer tonight. A man was shot several times and then run over. The question now is why. Action News Reporter vernon odom has more. First about five gunshots. And then two soon after that. Reporter Vittorio Rosario says he heard those multiple gunshots in the alley way lined his north 68th street home just before midnight. Then moments later. Five minutes later, heard a lot of screaming in the back so i looked out the back window and realized a guy, he must have realized that he had drug the body down. And he was just screaming, you know, he was highly upset. Reporter it was rosarios neighbor arriving back home suddenly believing he had run over man and dragged him a hundred feet. Only later did police realize the dead man had suffered at least five gunshot wounds to the head. He thought he ran over some trash and unfortunately it was an unidentified black male who was shot multiple times in the head. It is very shocking to find out someone had gotten murdered and ran over right behind your home. Reporter the shooting victim remains a john doe at this hour. And the gunman remains at large. Police believe it may have been a drug deal gone bad. He did have some small amount of drugs on him and some cash. Reporter apparently for sale. I would say, yes. Reporter normally this section of town called Overbrook Farms is quiet except for the recreational shooting of deer in the woods across the street. Its a quiet neighborhood. We dont usually hear anything. Reporter but you do hear gunshots every now and then. Yeah, but its never no bodies around. Reporter tonight Philadelphia Police are asking the public for help to solve this murder. Remember, theres a 20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in all philadelphia murder cases. Im vernon odom channel6 action news. An argument between two men ended with one in the hospital and one in handcuffs. Happened early this morning at 22nd and market streets in center city. Authorities say the suspect and the victim got into some sort of knife fight. Both men were stabbed one of them 13 times. Theyre expected to be okay o the suspect was arrested. A crash along a busy Chester County roadway tied up traffic for several hours today. This was the scene just before 9 00 this morning on route 41 near the Baltimore Pike split in avondale. The dump truck landed on its side and spilled its load of sand. A pickup truck and a car were also involved. No one else was hurt in the incident. It took crews about two hours to clear the scene and for police to wrap up their investigation. The search is on for a suspect accused of committing two robberies in New Castle County in the last few weeks. Delaware state Police Identified the man as 26yearold michael berwick. These photos show him with and without a beard. Authorities identified berwick as the suspect for robberies that the great wall Chinese Restaurant and a Dunkin Donuts in newark. If you know where berwick is, please call police. West Whiteland Township Police want to know if you recognize this man. He allegedly exposed himself and performed a lewd act in front of a woman in the Chester County library last wednesday. Police shared this image today in hopes of making an arrest. Thousands of residents of Washington Township, new jersey, have joined together to try and free the salaries for several new political appointees who have already received significant raises. Petitions were delivered to the township today containing the signatures of more than 20y 2700 residents. They want a referendum placed on the ballot in november to freeze the salaries which opponents say are excessive. The appointees who were given these raises by the mayor have only been in their job for less than two months and are getting raises of seven to 13 percent which is something thats unheard of in the private sector. After the petitions were dropped off, the Washington Township clerk date stamped and counted them. Organizers say they have more than enough. A new jersey judge has ruled in governor christies favor in the ongoing bridgegate scandal. For the third time a judge has decided that a special prosecutor wont be appointed to oversee a criminal complaint against the governor. A former firefighter filed that complaint alleging that christie knew about the lane closings of the George Washington bridge but failed to do anything about it. The bridge closing was seen as an alleged act of political retaliation against a democratic mayor. Three former christie allies have been convicted or pled guilty in the scandal. Popular stretch of a road in delaware will be shut down this weekend. Route 13 between hyatt corner road and fort penn road near middletown will close tonight at 7 00 and stay closed until 5 00 a. M. Monday. It is so crews can install new drainage pipes. Traffic will be rerouted onto route one. All right. Thats because the overturned van northbound between bridge and cottman is now gone but still a slow crawl coming out of center city with speeds like 6 miles per hour. Ski resorts are going to like that. But then as we head late saturday into sunday morning this is when low pressure begins to transfer its energy off the coast. So that pulls in colder air. By 11 oclock its snowing north of philadelphia and that snow line extends all the way down to the shore by early in the morning but thats when it breaks up. So, this is a really quick event as far as accumulating snow. Saturday night into sunday morning, South Wilmington just a few flakes. Really nonevent there. Philadelphia looking at a coating to an inch including the immediate suburbs. You get north of warminster, though, this is where well see about one to 2 inches and north of lehigh tunnel the poconos, two to 5inches. Looks like well have a band of greater lift with steadiest snow from the poconos to really manhattan and parts of new england. Have to watch that. If it sneaks down a little bit further down to the south may have to bump up our numbers. At this point though looks like most of that steady snow will miss us up to the north. So breaking down the weekend its kind of complicated. During the day on saturday any snow mix changing quickly over to rain. Only minor road issues the far northwest suburbs. Most of this will be melting on the roads. The problem though saturday night into sunday, this is when the rain will be changing over to snow.
