They say theyd rather their children be safe and comfortable. Well, for residents in one south jersey community, it could be tougher to cool down during this coming heat. Residents in the mullica Woods Development have been forced to bottom their water for the past few weeks. Theyve been under a boil water advisory for about two weeks now, this after a well failure may have contaminated the water. But in a letter sent to residents last week, management says its waiting on bacteria sample test results to be released by state officials. If its not the water, its the sewer. Reporter the new Jersey Department of Environmental Protection says records dating back to 1991 indicate that, although the Management Company has been issued more than two dozen violations, the bulk of it is technical in nature, nothing alarming or illegal. And this latest problem is not unusual when a well is being used. I think they need to be patient and just wait a few weeks and see what happens. They should get those test results within a few hours and if they do come back negative, thats good news for the residents here. That advisory should be lifted immediately. Pennsylvania government auditors say it will take significant new funding to cut into the states backlog of untested rape kits and they are now recommending penalties for Police Agencies that dont meet testing and reporting standards. The Auditor Generals Office released the report prompted by the state Health Departments disclosure back in may. There were 3,044 overall untested rape kits and 1,852 backlogged rape kits. That means there could be literally thousands of victims in pennsylvania awaiting justice. The new report recommends that the state provide funding to add sufficient people and equipment to end the backlog and ensure that new kits are tested within six months. Well, just days before the 15th anniversary of 9 11, the house of arives has agreed to vote this week on a controversial bill that i will a how the families of victims to sue Sarah Bloomquist in American American courts. If it passes the house, its expected that president obama will veto the bill. The bill triggered a thet from Saudi Arabian officials to pull billions of dollars from the u. S. Economy. Relatives of 9 11 victims have urged the administration to classify information that allegedly discusses possible saudi involvement in the attacks. It is pushing to the north and east taking the last of the cloud shield off the coast along with some showers that even scraped parts of Long Beach Island this afternoon. And we also have a front to the north and west of lancaster county, berks county, with downpours, thunderstorms, so. Had between both of those areas, the majority of the region stays dry, not only this evening but overnight tonight. However, that front in those western suburbs could clip parts of new castle county, western Chester County, lancaster, be county, even pourings of the lehigh valley. But most of that will sink down to the south by midnight tonight. It is dry with star clouds, and temperatures will stay on the warm side. And that humidity is going to be increasing overnight as well. 68 in millville, 71 in dover. 70 along the shore and up in the lehigh valley, 66 degrees. As we look at the temperatures for tomorrow, were watching some records to possibly fall around the region. Traffic on the ramp was blocked for hours for the investigation. And also for the cleanup process. A pedestrian was injured in some sort of incident with the school bus in south philadelphia this morning. Chopper 6 was over where it happened just before 8 00 a. M. Police are not releasing details as to what happened. The person was taken to Jefferson Hospital for treatment. From our new jersey newsroom tonight, a worker was injured this morning in a gas explosion in egg harbor township. It happened at the bus depot near the swift school while workers were working on an underground fuel tank. The worker has burns on his arms and upper body. Officials say the incident never posed a tlet to students or teachers. Police, fire and osha are all investigating tonight. Well, we have an update now to a story we first told but last night on action news. A Bucks County Community will be keeping its own police department. The penndel borough met. Residents packed the meeting with quickly became standing room only. Well, getting emergency help in new jersey just got even easier. The state system now accepts emergency text messages. It will be especially helpful to people in situations where a phone call is not possible. If you are in danger, though, make sure to silence your phone. Officials do stress that calling is always the best option. Jury selection in the George Washington bridge lane closing case starts tomorrow. Today, a federal Appeals Court ruled a list of unindicted coconspirators in the case should not be released before the trial. Well, two former allies of governor Chris Christie were indicted on charges they orchestrated traffic jams near the bridge as political payback. A judge in newark ordered the list released in may. You can see that travel time that should be 18 minutes. Its 48. So an extra halfhour if youre headed to the bank for the springsteen concert tonight, i would not do so via the southbound blue route. If you want to stick with the eastbound schuylkill, that too is jammed but its less jammed than the southbound blue route. Meanwhile, nearby, only a couple of those left this year, but state street is blocked and the 101 trolley is shuttlebussing. We still have that crash close to st. Joes along city avenue at 59th street and overbrook so i would still avoid that. Thats been a mess all afternoon. Also still the downed wires in tinicum township, bucks county, blocking geigel hill road near sheep hole road. Clay ridge road an alternate around that. Finishing it an opening at the burlingtonbristol bridge, southbound ship so well see one at the taconypalmyra bridge in just a little while. When police got there, the burglar had left. Multiple items were stolen including two laptops, a tablet, and several passports. The department of Homeland Security has good news for air travelers. Secretary jay johnson says wait times have drastically improved since the spring. Back in may, many travelers waiting in the line were there for as many as two hours. This summer, johnson says travelers waited less than 30 minutes. He added that, with that progress, security is still a top priority. But the big story on action news tonight is a confession of murder in bucks county. 34yearold Damien Walker today told police that he killed his neighbor in sellersville. Police say it happened sometime between saturday and yesterday. The wheels of justice are starting to turn quickly. Walker is being held with no bail.
