Now shes going through an assessment with physical therapist carol leaper and former professional boxer joey. We look for balance. Thats the main thing. He says soon quinn and dozens of others will enroll in rock steady boxing classes. Its a program thats started in indianapolis. The local parkinsons counties sim has expanded it here in philadelphia. It uses noncontact boxing fitness to help slowly progression of the disease and relieve symptoms. Stretching helps lessen stiffness in the upper body. Punching can help steady tremors and the foot work helps improve balance and coordination. With boxing they have to keep moving their feet, theyre shifting their weight. The man can be seen putting items from the West Philadelphia store into a black bag when an employee confronts him he pulls a gun and then left the store. A community in delaware is rolling out a new approach to help heroin addicts. State and local officials in new castle unveiled hero help today. It will be a rehabilitation option for people addicted to heroin and prescription painkillers. Nonviolent drug offenders will have the choice between being arrested or entering a program to start getting treatment immediately. And if they complete the program, the charges against them could be dropped. Its not a silverbullet, its not solving every problem. It simply gives us the ability when someone truly is in need of help and wants help it will give us an opportunity to put them into this program. Todays announcement comes just months after officials in new castle unveiled the heroin trap. The program uses videos and interaffect tiff ads to help addicts find resources for help. Today county and state officials talked about the importance of dogs like peyton who sniff out narcotics in the city besieged with drugs saying it helps the nation fight the epidemic of drug use. The American Humane Society donated five body armor dog vests. The Police Department has eight k9s now and hope to eventually have 12 or 15. Peyton and com macho have two roles. It will be hugs and kisses and detecting narcotics. When shes not specifically on an assignment for detecting narcotics, shell be in the schools and doing outreach with the community.
