Philadelphia police are investigating multiple robberies all the victims were women and all were threatened at gun point. Reporter monica, police have reports of six of these gunpoint robberies happening here in West Oak Lane over the course of the last month. The late of the happened just this morning here in the 1200 block of easton. Police are planning to put up fliers. They want to make sure the public is aware and they want residents especially women to take precaution. The victims are all women. They were all targeted by a suspect matching the same description in the morning hours. Police say the victims were on their way to work or out and about when the man approached them sometimes at the bus stop. He pulled a gun and demanded their cell phones. Seemed seems to be targeting women early in the morning. The first robbery happened as early at 6 50 with the latest happening around 11 00 a. M. Reporter just this morning at 8 35 a. M. A woman was robbed of her cell phone at gun point while waiting for the bus in the 1200 block of easton in West Oak Lane. She takes the bus and often worries about her own safety and that of others. Just praying for the bus to come up early because i dont know what it is and youre a female and you stand here in the dark. Reporter there have been six such gun point robberies in this area since december 6th, twice at cedarbrook and up saul. Bonnie he says shell have her daughter take her to the bus stop. Six of them. Reporter six of them. Oh lord im not going to argue with her no more. Take me to the bus stop or im not going until it gets light. Reporter police say thats the right idea. Take precaution and report anything out of the ordinary. Be on the lookout for anybody thats suspicious, this guy could possibly be in a vehicle and then exiting that vehicle approaching these women or on foot. He may be living in the area. Reporter now, the victims gave nearly identical descriptions of this suspect. They describe him as a young black male in his mid20s with facial freckles, discoloration and possibly a mole on his face. Hes always wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. A grand jury in ohio has decided not to charge any officers in the Police Shooting of tamir rice, that 12yearold was can killed last year in cleveland as he held a pellet gun. Abcs Elizabeth Hur has more on the grand jury decision which was Just Announced today. Shes live in new york city with more. Elizabeth. Reporter well, brian, according to the prosecutor, based on the evidence they saw and the testimony they heard, the grand jury determined that the officers had real reason to fear for their lives and concluded what happened to tamir rice was tragic but it was not a crime. The grand jury declined to bring criminal charges. Reporter tioga county prosecutor tim mcginty announcing the grand jury voted not to charge either officer involved in the shooting death of 12yearold tamir rice. Simply put, given this perfect storm of human error, mistakes and miscommunications by all involved, that day, the evidence did not indicate criminal conduct by police. Reporter rice was shot and killed by officer Timothy Lohman just seconds after they arrived at a cleveland playground november last year. Two months ago, the grand jury was convened to determine if officer lohman or his partner officer frank gun back was criminally responsible in rices death. The officers always maintained they believed the 12yearold was armed. It turned out to be a bb gun. And i have here tamirs gun and the actual m1911. Reporter according to authorities, the grand jury determined that to the officers, the toy gun looked real and prosecutors say newly enhanced video he showed it was indisputable that rice was removing his gun from his waist when he was shot. Either intended to hand it over to the officers or show them it wasnt a real gun but there was no way for the officers to know that. The outcan come will not cheer anyone. Reporter well, the rice family said in a statement they are saddened but not surprised adding that for months this prosecutor has abused the grand jury process. Also this afternoon the department of justice said in a statement it will continue its investigation into independent investigation into this case.
