Reporting live Marci Gonzalez channel6 action news. Sharrie back to you. Marcy thank you. Turning to the forecast now in todays cold winds are making us forget that its spring and theres a chance for a possible freeze tonight. This has us all hoping for warmer weather this weekend. Lets find out if well get it and of course checking in with meteorologist cecily tynan who is outside with the latest. Hi cecily. Hi sharrie. Our weather will warm up slightly this weekend but dont let the sunshine fool you. It is chilly out here. Currently in philadelphia the temperature 57 degrees. Allentown 54. Wilmington 55. Millville 56 and trenton 54 degrees along the beaches Sea Isle City the boardwalk in Atlantic City answers also 53. Temperatures running about 10 degrees below average. Feeling even colder when you factor in this, wind gusts up 228 Miles Per Hour in philadelphia. We had peak wind gusts earlier today of 37 Miles Per Hour. 33 Miles Per Hour in wilmington. And 26 Miles Per Hour in trenton. The reason why we have a wind tunnel effect. Low pressure up over northern new england, High Pressure over the tennessee valley. Thats really funneling the winds right over us. That High Pressure will ease over us tonight. So, what this means our winds will ease but with clear skies, temperatures are going to tumble. So our entire viewing area is either under a freeze warning in the aqua or frost advisory in the light blue. What this means is that if youve done any early season planting a good idea to cover up your plants tonight because that frost, that freeze could kill them and also dont forget about the pets. Make sure your pets have a warm place to stay. Records for tonight are going to be challenged. Philadelphia calling for an overnight low of 35 degrees. So, thats a couple degrees above the record but reading could set a new record low of 29, Atlantic City airport could tie a record of 31 degrees. So, a very cold start to the weekend. Ill talk more about the temperatures this weekend and a brush of rain coming up in the full accuweather forecast. Sharrie. Okay, cecily, thanks. In fact, it was a gusty friday. Winds clocking in at 37 miles an hour for philadelphia, 38 in reading, 37 wilmington, 38 in millville and Atlantic City 35 miles an hour wind gusts and combine that with temperatures that have been running close to 10 to 12 to 13 degrees below normal this afternoon, the 50s that you see, it feels more like the upper 40s out there and in fact air temperature right now in mount pocono is just 43 degrees with dover coming in one of the warmer spots at 56. Early this morning we did have some high clouds around but notice as the afternoon progressed a lot of those clouds lifted off to the north and we have a decent amount of sunshine this afternoon and that sunshine will be replaced by a clear sky with stars overnight as High Pressure comes in and with that clear sky the winds will start to calm down between five and 10 miles an hour. Thats not a good thing cause when you relax the wind it allows those temperatures to drop even more so near records tomorrow morning, 28 in the suburbs, 35 degrees for center city.
