And the family also released this video that they shot of sarah riding her bike and swimming and playing with her friends and family. She is now breathing on her own. Its been one year since she underwent two double lung transplants. But it was a lifesaving operation that almost didnt happen until a federal judge ruled she and another 11 year old could be on the adult waiting list. Until now kids under 12 had to wait for pediatric donor lungs that are very scares. And the family, sarah and her parents understand the significance of todays decision. Other families that are going through what you went through, what do you want to tell them . They should do the same thing that i did. Just push through it and it will turn out good in the end. Of course it was wonderful to make an impact for sarah, but to potentially make it for other kids there is one other child who received lung from a donor over 12 as a result of this, and so it is not an enormous impact that will change adult lung transplants, but it is a significant impact. Every life counts and sarahs life and this other childs life that were saved is huge. It is gratifying to not only do that for my child but to help another family. As you see in the video sarah doing very well. She still has some rehabilitation but is breathing on her own and living life similar to any other 11 year old child which is what her mother always wanted.
