Its not going to be a solid line today but some on and off showers that in some spots north and west could start as sleet and were looking right now at temperatures and youre below freezing in mount pocono but hovering right now at the freezing mark in allentown. We dipped to 32. Its 33 in reading. Well above freezing along the i95 corridor, its 39 in philadelphia and along the coastline as well, 39 degrees. Heres the precipitation that we can expect. In philadelphia and south its mainly just rain, even in the city you might see a sleet pellet mixing in before melting at the surface. A quick mix changing to rain late this morning into the early afternoon hours but a light mix continuing especially in areas in allentown and north. Thats where we have the main concern. By 9 00 a. M. , 37 with some on and off light showers. By noon, 38, still some on and off showers in the city and some mixing northwest. By 3 00 p. M. , 41 degrees and by 6 00 p. M. , were rain and 39 degrees coming down from your high of 42. Our overnight construction on the northeast extension northbound approaching the Lehigh Valley where were watching out for slippery conditions later on, well, that road work is gone both lanes opened there as well. Tam. Okay, thank you, matt. And we are learning more disturbing details that are coming out about the murder of a Lehigh Valley mother. Her own stepfather is now under arrest. We have just learned that authorities are examining the possibility that gregory that gregory graf may have sexually abused the corpse of his stepdaughter Jessica Padgett after shooting and killing her. Now investigators have maintained that they believe there was a sexual motive behind this murder but say there is no evidence that the 33yearold mother of three was having an affair with her stepfather. Padgett was found dead in Allen Township last wednesday nearly a week after she vanished while leaving work to send a fax at grafs home office. Authorities say the 53yearold graf admitted to killing padgett and disposing of her body on his property. A family friend who had helped organize many of the searches for padgett following her disappearance says her family will continue to need support from friends and the community. When you learn of something as tragic as whats happened, you go from helping in one way to helping in another. Now is charged with criminal homicide. He could face the Death Penalty if convicted. We often see him in the spring at the Liacouras Center giving a commencement speech but the controversy on campus has been growing and yesterday he resigned from the board of trustees. You would see him at temple. He was the public face of the university, a fixture at the schools big events. But the growing sex assault scandal involving actor and Comedian Bill Cosby has forced the the schools most well known trustee to quit the board. He said in a statement i have always been proud of my association with Temple University. I have always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. I think theres a bigger problem that we need the look at and if we can focus on that then i think thats a good decision. Im not surprised. I dont know if its the right thing or not. Thats kind of what everybody has to do in these types of things. Reporter the allegations from more than a dozen women span decades. The 77yearold has never been charged and strongly denies any wrongdoing. Temple has defended cosby even during a 2005 civil suit filed by a former University Basketball employee who accused cosby of molesting her in his cheltenham mansion. In october cosby was reelected to temples 36 member board of trustees where he served since 1982 until yesterday when he resigned. Its a shame. Im really sad to see it happened. Federal regulators are investigating graco officer its recall of car seats. Now the government wants to know if the company delayed the recall after it found out about a problem with the seats harness buckles. Manufacturers have a maximum of five days to tell regulators once they discover a defect. Graco recalled more than 6 million of the car seats earlier this year and regulators say it was the largest car seat recall in u. S. History. Turning now to the markets, disappointing retail sales figures pushed stocks lower yesterday. What looks like some mixed precipitation falling in lancaster not reaching ground at this point but you get the idea when the atmosphere moist tense up we are going to see in some areas that mixed precipitation. Right now were dry in the city but we do have some showers down in southern delaware along the coastline its picking up a little bit through millville, mays landing and you may even see sleet pellets mixing in up near wrightstown where its falling lightly at this point. Lets go on outside and show you what it looks like right now. Sky 6 looking live in hd over the platt bridge. Were dry right there but were watching for the atmosphere to moisten up. Its 39 degrees in the city so temperatures well above freezing. Look at the dewpoint its dropped even lower, 22. Why do we care about the dewpoint . It shows you the lack of moisture in the atmosphere and because of that what looks like rain falling in some spots or even some light snow is just evaporating before it hits the surface and its that evaporative cooling that could allow some mixed precipitation to fall even with temperatures that are above freezing. But it would just melt at the surface. The winds out of the northeast, thats a big deal. Yesterday they were out of the southwest, it was mild. Huge change today. And that pressure 30. 57inches. Satellite 6 and action radar showing us right now that precipitation moving in much of this not actually reaching ground, its pretty light at this point and we see lots of clouds but you can see theres more precipitation where that came from. But its not a solid line. Were going to see these showers kind of on and off and certainly through the Morning Hours very light in spots. So, by 8 00 a. M. , 37 with maybe a light shower in the city. By 11 00 a. M. , 38. You could still have mixing in the northwest at 11 00 a. M. By 2 00 p. M. , were raining everywhere except up nearly a town and areas north and 41 degrees by 5 00 p. M. 39 degrees but not a solid rain, some showers on and off even where its mixed it will be on and off. Heres future tracker 6. Look at 11 30. Its not raining everywhere. Well be watching for mixing. 1 oclock in the afternoon especially in those northwest suburbs where it could come down as mixed precipitation and melt on the surface. You see in allentown at 2 30 were still getting icing before it changes over to rain. By 6 30 for your drive time looks like the evening drive well be watching for ice pellets mixing in but most areas temperatures actually rising a little bit. This all ends after midnight and were going to look at that in a seconds for you. The precipitation types. Mainly just rain in philadelphia and south. Sure you might see sleet pellets mixing in in the city but it will melt at the surface. Northwest suburbs a mix at times when it begins to come in late morning early afternoon but then quickly changing to rain. The one area of concern would be allentown and areas north where that light mixing could continue and thats where you could get a bit of a slushy coating of ice and where it could be slick so in the far northwest suburbs. So over the next 24 hours some on and off light showers for the most part its just south of the city right now. Mixing in the northwest suburbs, changing to rain. Some minor issues, i think the only real place you could see that would be the far northwest in allentown and areas north. This is important. It stays mild overnight were not really concerned about anything freezing up overnight as temperatures will be in the 40s in the overnight hours. Heres a look at your seven day today. This begins tomorrow in the ongoing work zone between stow and route 100. Were going down to just one lane in each direction on the bridge over the schuylkill river. Speaking of construction restrictions, here in delco, providence road continues to close today from 9 00 until 3 00. Thats being going on for awhile. Its going to continue until the middle of the month but a new project started yesterday on 252 providence road with restrictions from 9 00 until 9 l 3 00 because of some water main installation. Members of the Hillside Playground association say the vandals keep pulling out lights and cutting wires almost daily at the christmas on the mountain display. The decorating began back in october. The cdc says deaths from pain pills like vehicle kin percocet and oxycodone tripled between 1999 and 200012 going from just over 4,000 deaths in 1999 to over 16,000 deaths in 2012. Separately officials also see a growing problem with heroin. Heroin deaths have tripled during the exact same time period. President obama given Charles Ramsey quite a task. He wants him to try and figure out what police should do to improve relations with minority communities and get back to him in 90 days. Now, commissioner ramsey is the cochair of the ferguson inspired task force formed yesterday by the president. The goal is to find ways to reduce tensions between police and minorities. One proposal is to require all Police Officers to wear body cameras. The Philadelphia Police department has just started a Pilot Program with the cameras. The future, its what we ought to be doing to accurately capture the events that are unfolding, that the officer is confronted with. Commissioner ramsey says the president has communicated a sense of urgency to the task force. 6 23 now and a veteran service dog was denied access to a plainly well have more on the story. Organized theft ring that stole nearly 3,000 worth of high end lingerie. The crime as so many these days was recorded. Police crediting an observant student were preventing a shooting at a utah high school. The student noticed that a 16yearold fellow student had a handgun. The student told a School Resource officer. That officer along with other School Officials confronted the student, took the gun and held him until police got to the scene. Investigators say the teen told them that he had planned to take the gun and to gun down another student whom he was upset with and start shooting at the school. Police believe the teenager was acting alone. A disabled army veteran from california claims u. S. Airways would not allow his service dog to travel with him. Army Sergeant Justin bond and him. You see some areas of blue east of lancaster showing what looks like mixed precipitation but a lot of this isnt reaching grounds yet. Most area roadways at this point are dry. We are getting some rain that is reaching grounds in southern new jersey and delaware so thats where were watching right now but this atmosphere is going to moisten up and some of that precipitation is going to fall and when it does you can see youre right at the freezing mark in allentown. 33 in reading so thats why we have concerns for the northwest suburbs for some of this to start as some mixed precipitation before changing over to rain and melting there at the surface but 39 in philadelphia. We are seeing some slowing, though, here on 95 in the great northeast traveling southbound as we do every single morning here by cottman avenue a little issue off to the side in the work zone but its not blocking any of the lanes. Lets begin with a developing story here. Flames erupted in this north Philadelphia Row home leaving one person hurt. The fast moving fire broke out on the 2900 block of north 24th street at 1 00 a. M. And the action cam was there as fire crews battled the blaze on the first and seconds floors of the house. It only took fire crews about 15 minutes to get the fire under control. No word on the victims condition. Investigators are still working to try and figure out what started the fire. Another developing story here. A man who was only being identified as a john doe is fighting for his life this morning. A driver struck him in West Philadelphia and took off. The hit and run happened at 59th and market streets at 9 00 last night. Police say a volvo Station Wagon struck the man who they think is in his mid20s as he was crossing the street. The volvo driver then drove off. The victim was taken to the hospital with head and internal injuries. Police have been unable to figure out who the victim is as they search for the driver. A man has been hit by a car in a deadly accident in northeast philadelphia. Police tell us the victim was crossing cottman avenue near oakland street last night when he was hit by a dodge charger. At the time it was dark and raining and the victim wasnt in the crosswalk. Police have not identified the man yet but they say he was about 69 years old. The driver who hit him stayed there on the scene and police are now calling this an accident. New this morning, a man was shot in the stomach collapsing to the street in philadelphias Strawberry Mansion section. Police say the shooter opened fire on the 23yearold victim at close range here at 30th and huntingdon. The man was that rushed into surgery at Temple University hospital. Police do from the know who shot him or why. Theyre checking surveillance cameras to see if they provide any clues. More details have been released about what happened right before and right after a West Chester University student disappeared on thanksgiving morning. Family and friends and now a community really hoping to have better news at this point. The reward for information about shane who you see here his face has probably become familiar to you has gone up to 25,000. Now shane was last seen at this kildares restaurant on main street in manayunk. The director of operations of kildares restaurant explained that there was no argument or confrontation surrounding shanes departure from the bar and emphasized that shane was not acting drunk. He addd that shane did accidentally bump into the djs equipment but was polite and respectful and just moved on. A short time after the 21yearold College Student was seen leaving the bar around 2 00 a. M. , a ping was picked up from his cell phone near a cvs about a mile from kildares but Authorities Say after that, the trail goes cold. Yesterday family and friends stayed busy handing outer leaflets in the Manayunk Roxborough section of the city as you see there keeping hope that someone will come forward with information that will help them find shane. I have a very strong and resilient mother who raised us to be hopeful and prayerful and faithful and thats what im trying to be. So lets run down the day for you. We expect by 8 00 a. M. , 37 degrees. Some light showers in spots especially reaching ground south and east of the city. By 11 00 a. M. , 38 degrees. Still coming down as a little bit of mixed precipitation in the northwest suburbs before melting on the surface. By 2 00 p. M. , 41 degrees and we expect just about everybody to be just raining at that point except in allentown and areas north. By 5 00 p. M. , 39 degrees, coming down from your high of 42 so staying well above freezing in philadelphia. Heres a look at future tracker 6. This is a look at lunchtime. Its not raining everywhere but some rain moving in in spots. We advance this to 1 30 and thats where you have a little bit of mixed precipitation nearly a town and areas north. At 3 oclock it looks like near mount pocono is where you have that mixed precipitation and then we see rain everywhere at 7 oclock. Spotty in nature but just rain because the temperatures actually climbing a little bit. In the overnight hours well be in the 40s. Its all out of here around midnight or 1 00 a. M. Ish so the precipitation type. In philadelphia and areas south mainly just rain. You could see a quick mixing changing to rain in the immediate northwest suburbs. The only real area of concern i would say is allentown and areas north where you could have that mixed precipitation kind of accumulate on the grassy coating a little bit and icy slushy bit oh watch for that in the far northwest suburbs. Also new this morning, its search for the man who was caught on Surveillance Video kicking and then robbing a woman in the bronx. Police say the video was taken on friday afternoon. You see the woman there with a baby walking by the man. The man turns around, goes back and he eventually kicks the woman knocking her to the ground. Grabs her phone and runs off. Police say the video is clear enough for them to identify the attacker 18yearold alonzo brown. Hes been arrested 11 times. The woman is shaken but physically okay and her three month old son is also okay. New this Morning Police in pottstown Montgomery County are investigating a womans suspicious death three shootings and a robbery. The woman was found dead inside her home on the 500 block of king street. Neighbors say she was stabbed but police have not confirmed that. Two people were wounded in shootings elsewhere in the borough and a man was held up while walking home from work but at this point Police Believe that the womans death is not connected to all of those other crimes. Yet another story thats new this morning. A well coordinated effort to steal womens underwear in oregon. Three people distracted the clerk while accomplices moved in. Took them just nine minutes to steal 3,000 worth of lingerie from a small boutique. The 1,600 robe was part of the stolen merchandise.
