Action News Reporter Kenneth Moton is live now outside of the Walter Palmer leadership learning partner charter school, in frankford and one thing is for sure these parents feel no sense of partnership with that school tonight. Reporter no, they do not, jim this School Closing was sudden this morning but issues have been going for months, even years. Walter palmer says parents were put on notice that this was a possibility but that still didnt stop tempers from flaring tonight. Unaudible. Reporter their anger understandable. Tonight, hundreds of Walter Palmer charter parents demanded answers in frankford after the high school abruptly closed this morning for good, because of the financial problems. Nearly 300, ninth through 12th graders, 80 seniors, looking for new classrooms in the city. They gave us a list of the schools, okay. Were not getting no answers. For it to be seniors, you need answers. Reporter founder and Board Chairman doctor Walter Palmer addressed parents but frustration took over. For months this school has been battling with the Philadelphia School district, which is in the process of revoking its charter. Low performing school which has k through eight in other locations, had 1300 students, twice the number legally allowed this month it held a lottery to cut 250 Elementary Students to meet regulations. Some families also have teens at the high school. My niece and nephew still home from the Elementary School. You havent even placed Elementary School kid yet. Reporter a palmer took heat as other parents learned of options and signed up at other schools. Without knowing some of the reaction would be. I want the city to see it and recognize it these are at risk children and families that people dont care about.
