The big story on action news the latest from dallas. Four days after a gunman assassinated Police Officers, stories of heroism emerge. And plans to reopen parts of the downtown area with the hopes of getting things back to normal. Here in philadelphia nearly 100 protesters marched through the city. Beginning with coverage in dallas. Hi walter, good evening. Earlier a man on the roof across from Police Headquarters sent people running telling people to take cover. The allclear has been given but it shows how onedge the department is as we learn details about the investigation. The five officers killed, the chaos unleashed, just a fraction of what the police say the dallas sniper was planning. The suspect was practicing explosive detonations, and that the materials was such that it was large enough to have devastating effects. The Dallas Police chief saying on cnn although Micah Johnson claimed he wanted to murder white officers. We believe the deaths in minnesota and in louisiana just sparked his delusion to fasttrack his plans. He kept a journal of come come back tactics. And the neighbors say he was practicing in his yard. And those in his journal were what he used in killing people thursday evening. Describing seeing two of the officers as they were shot. One calling out to her in his final moments. He said, he has a gun, run. She was shot in her leg protecting her son and say officers saved both of their lives. The officer jumped on top of me and covered me. They had no regard for their own life. They stayed with us. They surrounded my son and i. And president obama will speak about the heroism and loss when he travels here tuesday for a memorial service. In dallas, Marcy Gonzalez for channel 6 action news. The fifth night in a row protesters have taken to the streets of philadelphia demanding change. At about 8 00, black lives matter protesters marched at 40th and market. Some held signs and others chanted. And the Authorities Say this march has been spirited by peaceful. The anger across the nation over the Police Killings of black men resulted in protest, some turning violent. In baton rouge, louisiana 130 protesters taken into custody including a prominent black lives matter activist. And in st. Paul officers were injured. The officers used smoke bombs to clear protesters from an intersta interstate. The National Bar Association offering Legal Assistance to those arrested during the protests. This morning in many locations across the regions it is a day of prayer and peace. Police officers attended several services in predominantly black churches in the delaware valley. Many officers and Church Members want to send a message ever of unity. And as children of god, we remember the seven children of god killed this past week. The lives of two black men killed by Police Officers and five Dallas Police officers were remembered with prayers and candles. Among the faithful was the Philadelphia Police captain, Joseph Bologna and two other officers from the 19th district. They prayed with them after a week of violence and protests in hopes of building better relationships. We want to come together as a community and continue to build trust that we have been doing, especially in this direct over the past fourplus years. The healing continuing at this church. Wants to know he loves you. And the Cheltenham Police officer Jason Thompson received a standing ovation during a unity service. The Church Leaders hope it will eliminate some of the fear they say leads to violence. Some of our congregation are really afraid of the police and we are fully aware that they are afraid because those two black men were killed. Churchgoers would like to see more positive interaction between Police Officers and the Community Like this, especially to show young people that Police Officers are more than just the uniform they wear. A lot of young people just need to see a good side of Police Officers. If they can start seeing it at a young age it will help change their attitudes. That spirit of unity also on display at this peace walk in phoenixville. They are hoping to encourage others to make the change needed. More than 100 cars pulled from service because of a potentially dangerous defect. Without the cars the riders dealt with cramped conditions and delays. Now there may be some signs of relief. This is one of the stops we will see increased Service Beginning tomorrow morning. It comes as a Transit Agency adds nearly two dozen leased vehicles to it fleet. It is quiet now but this is rush hour last week. Standing room only as they squeezed into cars, leaving riders at subsequent stations out of luck. Passengers further in sometimes got passed by. When they got passed by they might have to wait 45 minutes or an ho an hour for septa to send another train. The septa interim service was to beef up routes. Additional capacity from bryn mawr on the paoli line and from glenside to serve. And i am happy to report we will add a considerable am of equipment. And after they announced plans to lease vehicles. 18 passenger cars and three locomotives in all. Helping to build the fleet after septas cars were pulled after serious cracks were found in the suspension system. Allowing us to have three different train sets with 1700 additional feet. But that wont fix the problem says mitchell, who warns there will still be delays. Recommends that they review the schedule and download the septa app to stay on top of things in realtime. And despite the crowded cars, he believes that septa is doing the best it can. I am informed. I know what is going to happen. I make the necessary changes and just roll with it. And since the train shortage is expected to last through the summer, septa hopes to add other leased vehicles, as well as possibly express bus service to some routes. The two boats crashed off the coast of Long Beach Island and it tossed three people overboard. The coast guard arrived quickly pulling them from the water. 35yearold chanhee kang of hanesport died at the scene. The second treated for injuries and no word which boater was at fall. Two children rushed to the hospital after hit by a car in Montgomery County. At about 6 00 in perkiomen township near route 29 and plank road. The police in delaware arrested this man, 35yearold joseph rudge in connection with two attempt abductions.
