Gunfire erupted during a protest late tonight against the Police Shootings in louisiana and minnesota. One Police Officer was reported down and taken away to the hospital. Right now hundreds of police are trying to track down the shooter. This is an active scene. Obviously a very dangerous scene for police and for anybody else near the area. This is the way it sounded when a wfaa reporter responded to the sound of gun shots. Shots fired, officer down. I repeat officer has been down. We have shots fired. At the same time, we have so many Police Officers down here it sounded like an ak47 going off. It sounded like an ak47 going off. Numerous, numerous shots fired. It appears that the police are looking up here at this parking garage as a possibility of where the suspect might be. Big trouble in dallas. This is right in the middle of downtown. Again, the scene of dallas protest against the shootings of two black men by white police. Local reporters are saying the gunman fired 10 to 15 shots. At this moment he is still at large in dallas. I believe. I believe. This was the scene in center city, philadelphia tonight. A very different story. Citizens, members of the clergy and organizers of black lives matter marched in peaceful protest. And in new york city they were peaceful. And how it looked at a school where Philando Castile worked in minnesota. A vigil and protest and statement about how castile and alton sterling, two black men were shot and killed by police. There is growing reaction to the shooting deaths of these two men. And, of course, we have seen the stunning account, the aftermath of the shooting streamed live to social media. Diamond reynolds gave a realtime description of what happened in Falcon Heights last night when she and her fiance were stopped for a broken taillight. And her 4yearold daughter in the back seat. She said she and her fiance did what was instructed. She said they informed police he was licensed to carry and had a firearm. When he reached, the Police Officer pulled the trigger three, four or five times. I told him not to reach for it i told him to get his hand up. You told him to get his i. D. , his drivers license. Oh, my god, please dont tell me hes dead. This was streamed live to facebook. Today, at the center of a News Conference talking about Philando Castile. He was never a bad man. He never did anything to hurt anyone. He was the quietest laid back person would you meet. He was loving. And even the police to take him away, nothing in his body language said intimidation. Nothing in his body said shoot me. Minnesota governor mark dayton called on the Justice Department to conduct an investigation of the shooting and the Police Officer who shot castile. Dayton acknowledged that he didnt think this would have happened had the passengers in the car been white. And we learned more about the two officers who were seen in the cell phone video in the shooting death use night of alton sterling in baton rouge, louisiana. Four use of force complaints have been lodged according to complaints. The officers were cleared of all four. The 37yearold sterling had a Police Report with domestic assault, and he was barred from carrying a gun. Police and an eyewitness said he did have a gun in his pocket. President barack obama addressed these two Police Shootings as soon as he landed in warsaw, poland tonight for the nato summit. Calling them on to root out violence, it is broader racial despair its and we have seen tragedies like this too many times. And obama then said this it is not just a black issue, not just a hispanic issue, this is an American Issue we should all care about. All fairminded people should be concerned. Obama said a big chunk of this countrys citizenry feels they are not being treated the same, and in his words that hurts. It should trouble all of us. But it was peaceful protests tonight, opposed to what happened in dallas, texas. Thats absolutely correct, jim. Hundreds of people gathered at the convention center. They marched down to the federal Detention Center before ending here at the united Methodist Church. Again, like you said, their protests were peaceful but powerful. Peacefully hundreds marched. Poignant were their words. We are speaking out against police brutality. Here to declare our lives matter. Local activists and faith leaders in town for a convention took to the city streets. I believe that we must win. Whatever happened in baton rouge and in minneapolis, you have to say and do something. Did you see the videos. I saw the videos. They are very graphic and hard to watch. This kind of killing and double standard and Police Official racism has existed for years. David goldman says incidents like this impact everyone. We should all feel hurt when this happens white, black, hispanic. If you think you are that department that cant be impacted by that, you just hope iffing is it tragic happens in your department that you establish relationships that will stave off unfortunate incidents throughout your neighborhood. June 24 when a Police Officer from folcroft, delaware county, chris dorman going about his job of protecting and suffering when he was assaulted with fists and bullets. And tonight, chad pradelli conducted an exclusive oneonone interview with dorman, dormans first since he was shot. Chad . Officer dorman said it was a routine call. He didnt think much of it. But within seconds he was facing the barrel of a gun. One through my nose came out my cheek. And then i didnt know it at the time, but one hit my chest here where my badge is on my shirt. Doctors call officer chris dorman a miracle. Shot seven times, hes talking and alive. It was two weeks ago. Call for somebody possibly smoking marijuana out back of an apartment building. And i went there to check it out. Dorman said he approached donta island across from the Folcroft Police department. He said almost immediately island punched him, staggering him and opened fire. First hitting him in the face. His wound gushing with blood, dorman still managed to get on his radio and call for help. Shots fired, shots fired. Im shot, im shot, im shot. The 25yearold was able to get away down this breezeway thanks to his brother in blue who arrived in seconds and exchanged gunfire with island. At that time began firing, it gave me a chance to retreat and get away and get in the car and get to the hospital. His body riddled with bullets he didnt think of his injury but his duty as an officer. The sergeant did an awesome job of calming me down, talking to me. And they captured island. Dorman undergoing surgeries and in a couple of days released to a Police Caravan and outpouring of support from the community. And he has further surgeries to his face. He doesnt look forward to those, but looks forward to getting back on the job. When . He doesnt know. During a time when police are under scrutiny, dorman loves being a cop despite the dangers. If you want the public to get one thing out of this shooting, what would it be . Well, more respect for Police Officers everywhere. Realizing how dangerous our jobs really are, and how something simple as that could turn into something as bad as it did. And i asked dorman what he would say to donta island, and he said not much. Id just like to ask him, was it worth it . Live in folcroft, chad pradelli. And a judge dealt a defeat to bill cosbys defense team, ruling his accuser will not have to testify at another hearing. And he was there while the judge delivered his decision. His lawyers wanted Andrea Constand to testify again saying they needed to cross exam her. And Atlantic City airport and a 103 in beach haven and Sea Isle City with the marine layer, the extremely high dewpoint. The heat index climbed up to 105 degrees. And tomorrow doing it again. And advisory until 6 00 for area along i95. This is where the heat index will climb up again close to 100 degrees. The nearby suburbs not feeling much better, heat index 95 to 100. It will be feeling a little better along the shore with sea breeze. And heat index 90 to 95. And that is the heat index up across the pocono mountains. The low pressure northwest of minneapolis, that is associated with a cold front that will finally break our heat wave over the weekend. That will move through saturday. An army of officers surrounded a multistory parking garage in Downtown Dallas where the sniper is believed to be holed up. They say the gunman is wearing some kind of tactical body armor. A 12yearold girl killed in texas today when a truck crashed into a bridge sending a concrete slab flying onto the car in which she was riding. Her mother is in critical condition.
