Christie, what do you know about reporter well, right now detectives say theres no clear motive. All the more reason why many people who live on that block are struggling to make sense of why this man was attacked, not once but twice and left to die in his own home. And i heard boom. And thats it. Reporter at the time, James Jackson jr. Didnt know what hed just heard was his 77yearold neighbor being beaten to death. Its clearly two acts of violence against him, one on friday night after he dropped his son off at the airport and again sunday morning. Reporter police say it was during that Second Attack that the suspect broke into the home through a back window. But it wasnt until a tuesday welfare check that the victims son and police discovered him dead on the living room floor. Obviously were not sure what the motivation was. Reporter witnesses say as many as three people were seen fleeing the home. A neighbor called police. Yeah, i seen, what, 12 00, 1 00 in the morning, they came, just banging on door. Nobody answered the door. Nobody deserves that to get beat up. Reporter friends describe the 77yearold as a Good Neighbor always willing to lend a hand. This woman fears she may have missed signs something wasnt right following his Second Attack. His van wasnt there. We just said he was at a picnic or something for the holiday. He could have been laying dead when we thought he was at a party. Thats what makes you feel bad. Reporter now, police say the victims van and also his keys are missing following that attack. Anyone with information about the suspect are asked to call detectives. Reporting live, christie ileto, channel 6 action news. Jim . Thank you, christie. A motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene tonight after colliding with another vehicle. It happened at 6 30 on the 200 block of washington crossingpennington road. This was hopewell township, mercer county. Police have not yet said what led to the crash. This is the way it looked this morning on route 141 in new castle, delaware. Two vehicles crashed head on sending seven people to the hospital. Six of the injured were students heading to William Penn High School in Wallace Wallin school. The driver was a 16yearold and police say he was driving without a license and without registration and insurance. Police say he moved into the haver to the United States and has asked for privacy. Lawmen in east Coventry Township are still trying to identify the body of a woman found in a pond yesterday and tied to a sinder block. The discovery was made in the pond off zieber road. Reporter jim, they are receiving tip calls on the womans identity after jewelry, tattoos and clothes were circulated through the news media. Well, i wouldnt let my daughter stay home alone right now. Lock the door. Lock the doors for sure. Reporter neighbors on edge after the gruesome discovery in a pond popular with swimmers and fisherman in the 300 block of zieber, a womans body submerged in four feet of water, tied to a cinder block. No gunshot wounds. No blunt force trauma. There was also no water in her lungs which means she was dead before she was placed into the water. Reporter authorities suspect the body was dumped in a pond sometime sunday night into monday by someone at least familiar with the area. Our suspicion given the fact the fact that everybody in the area knows each other is that somebody came from out of the area. This woman came from someplace else and was dumped into this area. Reporter this evening, a resident placed a bouquet of flowers a few feet from where the body was found. I just cant believe that somebody would be that heartless to do that to another human being. Reporter the woman is described as an africanamerican, about 25 to 35 years old. Authorities released pictures of the clothing she was wearing, along with rings, one which has a horse on it, another with an anchor. There was also a tattoo on her shoulder. Someone threw her away like she was trash. Nobody deserved to die like that. Reporter now, the coroner is awaiting results of the toxicology tests which could determine how the woman died. Meanwhile, authorities are asking viewers to continue taking a look at the pictures of the clothing, jewelry, and tattoo hoping someone can identify the victim. Were live in east Coventry Township. Lawmen are looking for 39yearold malik bailey who, according to police, was not a stranger to the two victims. The 16yearold girl accused of criminally negligent homicide in the death of a Wilmington High School student arrived in court today. We are blowing her face blurring her face because she is currently charged as a juvenile. But a judge granted a hearing whether to try her as an an adult. Authorities say the teen struck amy joynerfrancis at Howard High School last month with deadly consequences due to the victims underlying heart condition. Two other girls face less serious charges had the case. A tire slasher remains at large tonight after leaving the philadelphia neighborhood fuming. The vandal deflate plated tires on a dozen vehicles along tyson avenue in mayfair. 1 uone homeowner thinks that he may have captured the suspect on this surveillance video. Outrage continues over the shoting death of a gorilla at the cincinnati zoo and tonight police have opened a criminal investigation and charges are now possible. But theyre only looking into the actions of the parents of the 3yearold boy. In the moments before the child fell 15 feet down into the gorilla closure. Police say they are not going to investigate the operation of the zoo or the decision to shoot the animal. That probe will come from the usda. Zoo officials have said the 400pound male gorilla, harambe was agitated and hurting the child while dragging him around the exhibits mote and their only choice was to use lethal force, not a tranquilizer. A newly repoliced report said the boy played in the mote at first before harambe climbed down to get him and the child was conscious with only minor scrapes to his head and knee. The philadelphia zoo has a wellregarded primate reserve with five western lowland gorillas. It found the majority of fulltime students, 60 , have had alcohol in the past month. Students drank an average of six or seven times a month. One in five students used an illicit drug, marijuana, hallucinatory drug and prescription and pain pills being the most popular. But its not all partying on college campuses. The survey revealed the majority of time is spent on classwork and studying. Steadily rising home prices are not stopping buyers. The index today shows the average price of a home increased nearly 5. 5 in march compared to the same month last year. One of the biggest reasons is a shortage of homes on the market. There has not been this kind of tight supply since the mid1980s. Analysts say the Housing Market is being fueled by job growth, wage increases, and low mortgage rates. Average or slightly above average Hurricane Season, accuweather calling for 14 named storms, 8 hurricanes 4 reaching hurricane 3 status or higher. This is a big change from the past three years. And the reason why we have a la nina developing. The opposite of last year. Low temperatures in the ecuadorial pacific. And what this does is it actually decreases wind shear so that will allow storms to develop. More active in the past three years.
