Part of a flurry of severe storms that left a trail of damage, including cincinnati, ohio, where a woman died when this tree came crashing down on her car. And look at this image from cottonwood, alabama. The home split in half by a falling tree. Amazingly, no one was hurt. In ft. Mitchell, alabama, siding ripped right off the wall of this house. These homeowners losing parts of their roofs. More than 40 reports of Severe Weather in the region. You need to take cover as soon as possible. Reporter overnight, the same system sent Country Music fans running for cover at this outdoor concert in arlington, texas. Here we are. Tornado sirens going off. Reporter the city sounding the alarm for the dangerous weather. Were having tornado winds, rain and hail. Reporter not quite a tornado, but a second night of damaging storms pounding the dallas area. And rob is here now. Where is the Severe Weather headed . Its coming in waves. The same folks that got it earlier may get it again tonight. The pink area where storms and watches will be. This extending from orlando to philadelphia. I wouldnt be surprised if we saw some Severe Weather into the northeast. And to d. C. By the morning rush, a messy commute. Not just rains, but windy and stormy. So this has been a lar not going to be through it until the middle of the week. And californias dire lack of rain helped spark a fastmoving wildfire still burning tonight. More than 800 firefighters called in. Forcing hundreds of families out of their homes. Firefighters on the front lines looking ahead to a fire year thats already taking a toll. Kendis gibson is there. Reporter tonight, firefighters still fighting a wildfire thats spread rapidly. Flames coming up, it was pretty impressive. Reporter the initial call was for a small brush fire. But over the hours, it grew to nearly 1,000 acres. Fire crews ordering mandatory evacuations for 300 homes. Residents and livestock rushing to escape the flames. More than 800 Fire Fighters on the front lines. Treacherous work. Given the steep terrain, winds winds. And the Evacuation Order was lifted. Weve seen large, explosive wildfires. Its directly attributed to our drought. Coast guard crews are searching the mediterranean after a fishing boat carrying migrants sunk overnight. Now feared to be the deadliest migrant disaster ever. Alex marquardt is on the shore in italy tonight. Reporter today a desperate search for hundreds of migrants lost at sea. Rescue teams, mostly italian, in the air and on the water following what could be one of the deadliest disasters ever in the mediterranean. The coast guard are, with the small capacity that they have, are doing whatever they can to rescue lives. Reporter there may not be many lives to save. So far, italian Authorities Say only 28 migrants have been found alive, leaving hundreds more now feared dead after their small boat capsized 70 miles from the coast of libya as a rescue ship approached. One survivor said today there may have been as many as 950 people onboard. The mediterranean has become a watery grave for wave after wave of migrants fleeing poverty and war in the middle east and africa, seeking new lives in europe. Some 35,000 have crossed so far this year with 13,500 rescued in the past week alone. And if todays numbers are confirmed, around 1,600 people have died. We have been warning that if there is no robust rescue at sea on the mediterranean, the people will continue to come and more people will die. Defending against claims that he lacked the proper training. Tonight, Gloria Riviera checks the records. Reporter tonight, embattled volunteer oklahoma Deputy Robert bates fighting back, his attorney releasing his own detailed Training Records to answer charges he was underqualified when on april 2nd, the grandfather and fulltime insurance ceo came face to face with eric harris, on the run after an undercover bust. Bates pulling his gun, he says by mistake, instead of his taser, killing harris. Oh, i shot him, im sorry reporter the records show bates completed the Oklahoma State requirement of just one taser class. And routinely passed handgun and weapons training tests. But questions remain. Certain firearm qualifications from 2012 and 2013 appear to be missing. The incident highlights a nationwide debate over volunteers in the line of duty. 54 of the countrys Police Departments routinely use reserve officers. The pair last seen at a parking garage on march 30th. Family members say the mother and daughter were supposed to spend a week in manhattan, watching some shows here in the theater district. Police say they discovered costellos car in the nearby garage. It appeared untouched. Were investigating all the different angles but havent come up with anything solid yet.
