After four days and 59 search and rescue flights there was no sign of ron or his boat. Gans the wishes of rons son, a decision was made to call off the search. I said, man, i dont think you should call off the search because i dont think hes gone. Then Tuesday Morning after 12 days of radio silence. Mayday, this is the malia. Anybody picking this up. Reporter the dramatic rescue. Ron found floating 65 miles off the coast of oahu. Hes doing okay. A little tired and weak. They got him some food and water. Hes doing all right. Thought i was going to die. I hung in there. Took mental discipline. These guys are real heroes and save peoples lives. Reporter weather pushed him almost 200 miles offshore. The soaking downpours are pummeling San Francisco to seattle accompanied by hurricaneforce winds. We get the latest from abcs josh haskell. Reporter overnight the rain came ashore in Northern California. The latest storm to batter the pacific coastline. Homes dangling, high surf slamming the pacific coast. The first signs of a dangerous storm. Sandbags line streets, and schools across the San Francisco bay area are closed today. This storm is supposed to hit in the middle of the night, so what may just look like a little bit of water on the road could be deeper than it actually looks. Reporter motorists warned to be cautious and stay home if they can. In seal beach, california, 7 to 10foot waves expected by the end of the week. Im stoked. Gets really close to shore. Really big waves. Some of the biggest waves in california this close to shore. Reporter a high sand berm is in place to stop those waves from flooding property.
