This just days after a new video of the ray rice Domestic Abuse incident went public. This indictment stems from an incident in which peterson disciplined one of his sons way tree branch. Good evening be im chris may. And im Natasha Brown in for jessica tonight. Cbs correspondent Danielle Nottingham is tracking the latest on these shocking charges. Reporter Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson is facingcharge of child abuse. Hes accused of hitting his son with a switch which is a branch from a tree. Peterson did not practice with the vikings thursday but returned to the field friday. The organization released a statement saying the vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson. At this time we will defer further questions to adrians attorney, rusty harding. Harding seen here with peterson in 2012 issued a statement defending his client. Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son. Adrian has never hidden from what happened. He has fully cooperated with authorities. Morning temperatures saturday mid50s in the Lehigh Valley to near 60 for center city, a little milder to the south in south jersey and delaware it should be in the low to mid 60s by the time you wake up. That man reportedly jumped in the water near the 1600 block of South Columbus boulevard. Police say the 48yearold was on a pier fishing when his son when he decided to try to swim to the other side of the pier. There is no word on the victims identity. Well, also new tonight a car slams through a fence and into a building in camden, new jersey. The driver of the car was impaled by a pole that went through the windshield. All of this happened at seventh and spruce. The drivers condition sun clear tonight. The cause of the crash is under investigation. And a jury hands down a guilty verdict against the woman accused of kidnapping a fiveyearold girl from school and sexually harassing her. And tonight walt hunter takes us inside the investigation and get a firsthand look at the evidence that led to a conviction. Reporter the mother of the fiveyearold victim with her attorney left the criminal justice center. The journey for justice for her daughter now over. Her attacker, Christina Regusters who had abducted the girl from her West Philadelphia school sexually assaulting and abandoning here in a playground now convicted on all counts. Im very thankful that this monster was found guilty. This child is one of the most, if not the most remarkable child that ive had the pleasure of coming in contact with. Reporter prosecutors praised the little girl who despite horrifying injuries helped gather evidence including remembering the squawking of a macaw inside the home where she had been blindfolded and imprisoned. She was telling us, hey, listen, im getting really tired. I dont feel good but i really want to help. I dont want to stop. Reporter among the evidence convincing jurys of regusters guilt a 911 tape as Good SamaritanNelson Mandela myers who found the victim in a playground crying, shivering only wearing a tshirt came to her rescue. One of the jurors who asked to remain anonymous says a dna match with regusters was a major factor. Certainly the dna evidence was strong, the strongest factor in our decisionly we got the right person and justice will be done. Im certain the family will have some type of closure. Im going ask. Hopefully the judge will listen. Reporter defense attorney hopes to convince the judge not to impose the life sentence prosecutors are asking for regusters while the victim tries to move forward with her life forever changed. There are physical and emotional scars that are there for life and thats why this case was so important. Reporter and with this verdict in, a second trial still ahead. The victim and her family suing the Philadelphia School district for lacks security that they claim allowed regusters to abduct the fiveyearold from her classroom and then carry out the terrible crime. The olympic runner was convicted today of the lesser charge of culpable homicide in the shooting death of reeva steenkamp. The judge says there wasnt enough evidence to find pistorius guilty of murder. He could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison or he may not spend any time at all behind bars. Part of a house being demolished collapsed injuring two workers. Eyewitness news was there at second and monroe in queen village. Officials say that a wall came down on top of the scaffold where those workers were standing. One was trapped under the rubble for some time and had to be rushed to the hospital. I heard a lot of hollering. I saw one of the workmen jammed in the elevator shaft with all the wood on top of him. The Citys Department licenses and inspections is investigating that incident. Philadelphia police need your help as they search for an armed robber who targeted a 7eleven store. The robbery happened early yesterday morning in the 1400 block of cottman avenue in oxford circle. Police say that the suspect followed a cashier into the store and then pulled out a gun. He took off with an undetermined amount of money. No one there was injured. Philadelphia police are also searching for suspects in this driveby shooting. It happened back on august 31st in the 3,000 block of b street, thats in kensington. An 18yearold man was shot in the thigh and arm. Police say the suspects were in a light colored chevy suburban suv with a sunroof. Supporters of Philadelphia Schools gathered to protest budget cuts in the district and make a very special delivery to pennsylvania governor tom corbett. Parents, teachers and students chanted outside governor corbetts center city office today. They delivered a letter to the governor. It invited him to visit a Philadelphia Public School and meet with protesters. So far state lawmakers have not scheduled a vote on the cigarette tax that would ultimately help fund Philadelphia Schools. Workers at the taj mahal have gotten notice that the casino could shut down for good in november. Trump entertainment resorts says it has sent the notice to more than 3100 employees. The company filed for bankruptcy on tuesday and threatened to close the taj mahal if it didnt get concessions from unions. It point d to november 13th as the tentative closure date. His chemotherapy started right away and the life he knew was put on hold. His shoulder pads were traded in for a hospital gown, his water bottle exchanged for an iv. He kept his spirits up.
