We start off with a live look over downtown cleveland. Theres terminal tower in the background. Its beautiful outside. 39 is our current temperature, so its chillier than it has been the last couple of mornings, but you know, its not frigid. I mean, we can make it. Well be all right. Just a little chilly. Last three hours problemfree. No rain, no snow, absolutely nothing going on. I thought i would check the visibilities just in case we wanted to show you how clear it is out there. Perfect tens across the board. No fog, no rain. There is absolutely nothing to stand in your way on your way into work, and, of course, its friday. I hope you have an easy drive in. Temperaturewise were in the 30s, so you may need to turn the heater on. We have the green light for that drive in to work, at least in terms of the weather. John will check traffic for us in just a minutes. Evening commute looks smooth as well. We have a blend of sun and clouds and maybe a stray shower or sprinkle, but the chance is like minuscule. It is so small, and well be in the mid40s later on dropping back to about 43 by 6 00. I will take a look at the weekend in a few minutes and i want to look ahead really far ahead to easter. There. Back in a few with an update. Right now heres tia. Tia there are new developments into the mysterious death of a 22yearold fremont ago. In a facebook post, the sister group of investigators have been looking into his death for the last eight months. Barron is believed to have died after accidentally falling down a trash chute at Progressive Field during at concert back in july of 2014. His body was found in a lorain landfill days later. Now, barrons family along with private investigators are offering a reward for any new information on what may have happened to cory. Brian this morning we are waiting to hear back from Cleveland Police about how many arrests they made during the st. Patricks day festivities, but we do know there were no major incidents throughout the holiday celebration. Thats good news. It was all hands on deck for Cleveland Police, and people around town, well, they noticed. We talked about it amongst our friends. Yes, we did. Yes, we did. We noticed a lot more than normal. More than enough. Its good. I feel safe. Brian last year police made 46 arrests on st. Patricks day. Well let you know. Look for them first on the cleveland 19 mobile app. Tia an exciting day for nearly 200 students at case western reserve university. Its match day is the day med students find out where they spend the next three to seven years as a resident physician. Thats really good. Brian its very exciting. We always get videos of it. The doctorstobe are fired up. Tia a group of clevelanders are climbing to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for a local Nonprofit Organization. Brian thats in tanzania. Its the tallest mountain in africa. 19,000 feet. About 25,000 people we are year attempt to climb it. Nichole vrsansky has more on the local journey to reach the peak. Nichole there have been workout and training sessions. The fundraising pages are up, and now those involved in the big climb are trying to get the word out about the real mission. I just felt like this is what i was supposed to do. Nichole Danielle Leonard is paying it forward by climbing 19,000 feet to the top of mount kill imanjaro with 14 other clevelanders this september. Its bigger than me, any fear or shame i feel or anything. This isnt about me. Nichole the climb is about hope center. Leonard struggled with drug addiction, an abusive parent. The Nonprofit Organization still in early stages aims to help people like her find hope. Chc partners with other organizations to provide counseling, Financial Support to hundreds in need across the cleveland area. They need help because they dont enough food to eat or cant pay their bills. They donated 1,000 book bags filled with supplies and free haircuts for the first day of class. It was to give Single Parents a break. Its dear to my heart. Its how i was raised. Its the help of other people that helped us sustain but enjoy the life we had. Nichole each of the 15 climbers and trying to raise 20,000 for the Cleveland Hope Center. A portion of the Donations Fund the trip itself. Thats over 200,000 that we hope to collect to gather together that money to make a difference in our city. Our shirts say hope is rising. Our hope is this. As we climb the mount and we rise to the top, hope can also rise in peoples lives. For leonard climbing to the top is about looking back, seeing how much she has overcome. Probably drop to my knees and thank god, i mean, that ive come this far, look back behind me and kind of see the path that mountain. Nichole such an amazing effort. On ononif i could do it. Kill imanjaro is considered not technically a difficult climb, but the biggest problem is the quick elevation changes. 75 of climbers get sick because their bodies dont adjust in time to those elevation changes. Brian, tia. Brian lets hope they make it, and i hope they reach their goal of 200,000 bucks. That would be great. After a week packed with unseasonably warm weather, were in for a bit of a reality check this weekend, sam. Samantha we are. Were headed for the 30s. A recordsetting Space Mission is set to begin today hes being launched to the International Space station today for a sixmonth long expedition. Chicago just became the fourth city with a Major League Baseball team to ban chewing tobacco at stadiums. This isnt just for fans but players. Seaworld says the current orcas will live out their days and the program will be phased out. For decades seaworld has been criticized for the killer whale captivity. Now it will focus more on Animal Rescue and rehabilitation. If you want perch for dinner tonight, you might be out of luck on this friday. A shortage of lake erie yellow perch is making it hard for nonprofit fish fries to get their hands on this favorite dish. Many restaurants should still have perch. Its going to take a lot of work to do it, but they can pull it off. A group of clevelanders are embarking on a big feat this september. Theyre climbing mount t. Kilimanjaro kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in africa. Brian give them credit. Tough to do. A new Nonprofit Organization. Nichole vrsansky joins us now with a closer look at this charity and who exactly it is helping. Nichole its called the Cleveland Hope Center, and its the motivation behind this mission. 15 people, most from Journey Community church in fairview, are climbing mount t. Kilimanjaro to raise money for this nonprofit. We wanted to know more specifics. Take a look. Its a place of peace i can go to all the time. Nichole painting has always been therapeutic for cynthia paul. Routine bloodwork revealed she had lieu keem ma, aml. One of the leukemias that doesnt most people dont make it. Nichole cynthia was hospitalized for 27 days undergoing treatment. She was working as a care taker in manning. She had insurance but couldnt take a leave of absence. I couldnt pay rent, no money. Nichole she turned to her church that collected her with the Cleveland Hope Center. Paid my rent and utilities and helped with my car. They tell us the story of their circumstance, what happened and what their needs are. If theres a financial need, we look for the specifics of how to meet that financial need. Nichole through an application and interview process, the Cleveland Hope Center works with hundreds of clients, whether theyre dealing with cancer, like in cynthias case, or drug addiction or job loss. The Nonprofit Networks with other organizations to help people get Financial Support, counseling, whatever they need to get back on their feet. Find hope, discover help. When you feel like youre at your breaking point and desperate and all alone, when you feel like theres no where else to turn, go to the Cleveland Hope Center. Nichole funding comes strictly from grants and donations, thats why a group of 15 clevelanders is climbing mt. Kilimanjaro this september to raise money for the hope center. Our hope is once we help and be a part of helping someone elses story change. Nichole life has come full circle for cynthia. Shes one of the lucky ones. Her leukemia is in check for now, and shes back to painting but with a new twist. She brings her canvas to the hospital where she had treatments and paints for and talks with patients. Sometimes its a cry, its a hug, its an encouraging word that i that i get to give back in that way. That is so precious to me. Nichole such an awesome lady. Theres a fundraiser tonight. By the afternoon we should be good to go, and any accumulation will be super light if anything at all. The ground is really warm, so were not looking at major problems from this. Monday we have a weather alert snowshowers during the day, potentially light accumulations here, and then tuesday a break before more rain comes in for wednesday. Q. talk about this sofa in front of us. You put a lot of work into this. As we help people downsize and move, there are things we take out of homes not in the best shape. This came in. It was cloudy, cobwebs, birdseed underneath it. We carry a paint line, were a distributor, and this leather paint is a patented product with heirloom traditions. We actually painted the leather on this. Q. if you touch it, it feels like leather. This is paint . Yes, it is. Its a fantastic product. Theres fabric paint, leather paint.
