Your drive home a lot more quiet than the morning commute. Its not everyone waking up to our radar loop over the last three yours shows a persistent stream of moisture off lake erie making it down to the surface as snow. We have snowshowers in a lot of areas, akron, youngstown into doverer wake up to snowshowers and snow in medina and worcester as well. This is mainly an east side thing. Sandusky into bright ton, we have a strip of snow off the lake again, its more widespread out to the east. Scattered snowshowers down towards yellow creek. Up towards the north we have the most persistent snow. Ashtabula, lake county, Geauga County and around chardon to thompson and then into lake county as well. We have snow thats pretty steady and even some reports of snowcovered roads. Here on i90, which can become lakeeffect events, we see the snow pile up on the roads, 90 through madison going west through lake county. The worst areas i want to say are over on route 6 near chardon, hamden and we were on rote 528, madison road heading north into thompson towards we saw a truck spun out into a ditch probably about an inch of snow on the roadways out there. Several odot crews we saw out there plowing and salting. Havent seen so many on the highways right now. I think the highways are looking pretty good. The major highways across the area, those side streets and the state routes are a little diceyer out there. I77 at harvard is what youre looking at here. We look clear and roads are a little wet. After the debate hes heavily criticized by some for what he did not say when asked about the water crisis in flint, michigan. Tia q. Mccray continues the coverage. Sebring schools have been shut down. They were shut down earlier this week, and five children tested positive for lead in their body. We look south into dover and new philly and a little light snow there. North into portage county, still seeing light snow. The heaviest snow extending from Geauga County out into ashtabula and Southern Lake county. So our typical spots here, you may encounter snowcovered roads around chesterland, middlefield, these are all areas where we have snowshowers, and then again lake county, east side of cleveland here, mayfield heights, moreland heights, 271 corridor towards maple heights, too, dealing with snowshowers. Weve got a little bit of snow out towards the west towards sandusky. That was an extended radar tour for my friends just waking up out there. Ill take you through future view now that we show you whats happening now. Lets go through the rest of the day. We start the model at 6 00 in the morning. Of course, we have the fairly widespread snow out there. As we get closer to sunrise, i think well start to see some of the snow taper off, but even after sunrise well at least have a little light snow around, especially on the east side of things. Even to the west we have a few spits of snow, but most of it has been confined to areas east of i77. Heres the steadiest snow basically from 271 up into Geauga County around chardon, and then into Southern Lake county, ashtabula, northern portage and northern summit. By the time its all said and done, those of you who are just seeing the little spits of snow, youre not seeing a lot, maybe out here in lake, geauga, and western ashtabula, potentially up to 2 inches of snow by the end of the morning where we see the steadiest stuff. Kind of a snow rain mix. The roads are slick, not snowcovered just slick. The highways this morning, 90, 271 have been looking pretty good. Roads. Condition. Its those side streets, route 6 in chardon and route 528 we saw a spinout in the madison area. Those are the roads where you see snow coverage, up to an inch of snow on route 6 a half hour ago in that area. Back to laura in the studio. She can tell us how roads are looking in other parts of the laura. Laura very similar to what she was mentioning. On the highways we look good. This is i480 at route 8 this morning. The roads are staying mighty smooth and clear because they were treated so well. This is the highways we were talking about. The side streets and neighborhoods and state routes can get a little dicey. Across the map you can see the highways are moving very well. So this is good news as we move closer to rush hour. The steadiest stuff is in the primary snowbelt at Geauga County weve been seeing snow for quite some time, and geauga along with lake and ashtabula by the time its all said and done could get up to 2 inches of snow in some areas. The rest of us just looking at a dusting. Sticks around a little bit longer. Ravenna, akron down into Tuscarawas County we still see the snow. We have a little bit into putin bay as well. Cant get out there just yet, but well be dreaming of spring at the snow falls. As i mentioned, a trace, a dusting, up to an inch for most. As you start to get the higher totals, you get out towards the snowbelt, chardon, the model wants to give you about one inch. I think we could see up to two inches before its all said and done.
