Jack the last republican president ial debate of the year is over. As weve seen more than once before, donald trump and jeb bush were showing their issues with each other. Bush hes just a bunch of oneliners. Hes the candidate of chaos. But its not a serious candidacy. Trump hes coming out because hes trailing and trying to get noticed. I just want to make America Great again. Jack shots taken at the leaders of the republican race. But the bulk of the debate tonight was spent on the threat of terrorism at home and overseas. All candidates promised military action to one degree or another. But candidates also agreed that the us is losing the technology and information battle against islamic state. Fiorina we have an obsolete collection of data. This is why terror attacks have happened here in the us. Cruz the obama adminstration is scanning everyones data instead of the people they need to be the terrorists. And that decision is killing people. The focus today was why iowa state and what are his goals and if he had a chance to go else where. Did you talk to any obviously other but for me like i said i going to leave quite looking to leave. It was really simple for me to make a decision in terms of why iowa than anything the them the last two years coming out here like weve talked about then obviously when we sat down and met with jamie i think that had a huge impact on why here. This is a job labeled as maybe not one of the best in College Football by outside sources. Why was it the right fit for you . Number one i dont really care what people outside of myself, our staff and really our program to me its about finding the right fit. And why is it right for me . Because of exactly what i thought when i took the job. Number one the passion and the fan base here number two the commitment by the university here. Number three the people in leadership positions you can only get things done with great leadership. And i really believe theres tremendous leadership here obviously what jamie has done with the entire Sports Program can be seen on a National Level thats pretty incredible and pretty impressive. Long term goals what are they for you . Long term goals for me are really simple is to build a program and to build something that hasnt been done. And to take a program to a championship level Football Program thats one of the things i have an absolute love for and absolute passion and again i hope its one of the reasons im here. Because its that opportunity to do that right here at iowa state. Jon well have more on this interview coming up this week in sports. On this corner in muscatine, iowa, you can find panhandlers several times a week. Two are regulars. After feeling bad for the boys, mike pothoff offered them a job at his business. Pictures captured mike standing on the corner with them holding his own sign. Offered these guys a job, they said no. Dont give em money. The picture as gone viral. And all of the suddent it just went everywhere. While mike doesnt have a problem with panhandlers, he says he wants to make sure they really need the help. It upsets me when we have younger kids or people that can work that are doing that. Its not the first time mike says hes offered a job to a panhandler. Im hiring down the street, you wanna work for cash . To only have them turn down the money. Its about people maybe they do, but i think they can work too. Need the money, maybe they do, but i think they can work too. He says it wont be the last time either. If theyre gonna hold a sign out there and ask for money, and say theyre homeless, i can hold a sign that says iv eoffered these guys a job, dont give them money.
