At the direction of governor branstad, the iowa National Guard has sent about 45 members and 20 vehicles to the town of high ridge, missouri. Missouri requested iowas help after the towns Water Treatment plant was contaminated by floodwaters. The plant serves nearly 6,500 customer in high ridge and murphy missouri. And because of the flooding, more than 20,000 missouri residents are currently without clean drinking water. Back to the rose bowl. Tomorrow, wellmark has a 3point play program just for the rose bowl game. For every field goal the hawkeyes make, wellmark will make a donation to the iowa city parks and recreation department. Its a project the began back in 2010. This year, the program generated more than 13 thousand dollars to help support iowa city parks and recreation projects. Jack and the red cross is taking nominations for heroes of the heartland, to help celebrate its 100 years of service in iowa they want to honor heroes for their bravery, their knowledge of lifesaving skills, and their willingness to help others. This program is the primary fundraising event to support the red cross of central iowa. You can show your support for the red cross by nominating a hero or by sponsoring the event.
