The man pulled out a gun, trying to shoot the woman and missed, hitting the worker instead. The shooting happened outside Magnolia Court apartments, just west of the 414. Tonight the young accused shooter will be charged with attempted murder. Tonight, emergency medical marked the spot where a man was hit by a stray bullet this afternoon. It happened while he was taking down a fence separating the Magnolia Court apartments from a playground at a Daycare Center next door. Heres Orange County sheriffs spokeswoman. Our deputies immediately took into custody the man who was responsible for firing the gun and hitting the innocent bit stan der. Jakell ward shot the innocent bystander. He was arguing with his girlfriend, and when he she went to her car, he fired shots. One bullet shot the worker. He was rushed to Florida Hospital south where he underwent surgery this afternoon neighbors inside that apartment us. Developing tonight, from lake county, just two nights after a house fire killed a 17yearold boy from Lake Minneola high school, the community is coming together. It was an older home, the family of six rented. Fire officials, done with their investigation, but will never know the cause. An unimaginable tragedy that haunts this young mans family and friends. A lot it affected a lot of us, and he did inspire a lot of people, and a lot of people looked up to him, even me, and i never got to say that tomorrow, so. The suspects girlfriend is facing charges of being an accessory and tampering with evidence. 15yearold antwan davis was found dead sunday night on the sidewalk at lakewood avenue in ocoee with a gunshot wound to the head. Sheriff deputies say he was killed during a drug deal. Its obviously incredible unfortunate, and obviously our hearts and prayers go out to the families of these kids and many others in this type of situation and we hope that it is a wakeup call for some young men and women that are involved in that sort of thing, that it can be lifechanging. The money being spent on bearproof trash cans and people who will make sure that residents know how to use them. Fox 35s keith landry has more. Reporter bear resistant trash cans. A few neighborhoods already have them. State representative just county to buy more of them and to help enforce its new ordinance to reduce bear versus people encounters. This will help to bolster the efforts of Seminole County, and the people they hire to enforce this ordinance to make sure Public Safety comes first. There have been two separate bear talks where two women got hurt. He put language in the state budget that allows counties to use 125,000 from the state Game Trust Fund to help pay for bear resistant trash cans. His provision also pulls 375,000 from last years bear hunt license fees to help counties reduce bear versus people encounters. By this money coming from the bear hunting fees, we think it will be very helpful, and i think the county commissioners will find it helpful as well. Residents think the new funds will help. That is very nice that they can help you us with that because we have a lot of bears a lot of bears on my property. The plan says 60 of the 500,000 must go to counties with ordinances designed to keep garbage out of bears reach. As it turns out, Seminole County is the only one with the thats true. The 500,000 in funding is for the upcoming fiscal year. It will be up to state lawmakers and fish and wildlife officials if they want to renew it in future years. Its going to be sort of at sunset, lighting to it. Well be able to see the animals on the savannah, doing whatever they do at night. And it gives you a reason to do it in the day and to do it after nightfall. And the tree of life is stunning and breathtaking on its own in daylight. He is now suing the city of new york for 30 million, saying the city was negligent in monitoring the manhattan construction site. And a wall street worker was killed by that same crane collapse. His widow also plans to file a suit. A 22yearold man sentenced to five years in prison after hitting and killing a horse and injuring her rider. Fox 35 kelly joyce has more on the strict sentence. Reporter Christopher Todd was given five years in prison and five years probation. Hes accused of running down a horse and its rider in february of 2015. He says it was an accident. The victim says she believes he intentionally ran her down because one of her friends yelled out a racial slur because he was driving too fast. He will spend five years in prison followed by five years probation. His lawyer says he feels like thats too steep. A Million Dollars payout from is hurt when a tree fell oscar. Fox 35s valerie boey breaks down the numbers. Reporter an orlando man had won a 1 milliondollar case against the city after a tree fell on him while he was oscar. Attorney matt morgan says a tree fell on his client. He says he won a 1. 165 million verdict in a case against the city. Hes afraid someone else will get hurt. The city says theyve completed priority tree removals but are working on the others. They released a statement saying currently only 10 of the tree canopy is comprised of laurel oak trees. They dont plant laurel oaks anymore. Only 200,000 will be paid out. Over 100 files around palm bay, firefighters say some are suspicious. Trying to figure out the mystery forcing fire and police crews to increase patrols in neighborhood nearly 80 happening in a rural area of southwest palm bay.
