Two days after christmas. Police released a sketch after interviewing a couple who did survive. The suspects own father saw the sketch and called police. 19yearold Michael Phillips is charged with two counts of attempted murder. Tracy jacim is live in ormond beach. This is a seen where it happenedr early in the morning on december 37th. December 27th. A young couple woke up and needed to feed one of her small children, and when she got up she heard a noise, turned around and saw the defendant, stabbed her numerous times. She ran into her room only to hear her husband a short time when she left the room he too had been stabbed numerous times. Take a look right now. Michael phillips. This is the man who was arrested tonight, and youre also looking at a composite sketch. Shelly phillips, one of the victims had always told police all along if you look at the arrest after the that shed be able to identify him that. She got a very good look at him and shed be able to identify him by his eyes and the arrest after the is sort of chilling. She said shed be able to identify him because his eyes were, quote, sad. And then this composite sketch went out and his father called police and said, yep, thats my son and his own father said he had anger issues and said he was capable of such a crime. Just to take you back to that awful morning. Heres that 911 call that Shelly Phillips made begging for help. Maam, maam, maam, they are coming. Thedomen, in the stomach . Someone just came [ indistinguishable ]. Reporter and, again, maybe even more chilling at this point. Police said they have no idea what the motive was. He didnt take anything. He never demanded anything, and in the accounts both shelly and adam, the two victims always told police that it seemed as if he was trying to kill them. He never retreated. Reporter the girls ran back to the house to tell their mom what had just happened. I was scared for the girls. Theyre innocent little girls and they were traumatized by this. Reporter deputies were able to locate that silver honda that in, charging them with robbery and grand theft. I think its really sad this is what its come to. Reporter although the girls are happy that the suspects were caught, she never got her hoverboard back. Developing tonight weve got an Orlando Police officer on the mend after getting dragged by a truck during a traffic stop. And tonight were learning more about the suspect. Orange county jail. Hey, valerie. Reporter hey there, bob. Its not the first time this suspect has been arrested. The police chief says hes trying getting away from officers before driving the same exact truck. It was after 12 00 this morning when officer richard was making a traffic stop when he asked 36yearold morgan for a drivers license he realized morgan didnt have one. Chief john explains what happened next. There was a struggle, morgan resisted arrest and in the course of that struggle actually grabbed onto our officer and stepped on the gas. Reporter he still kept driving with the officer trapped in the door frame. This caused our officer to be drug several feet. Our officer fell down and struck his head on the car door, the reporter according to investigators, the officer was ground. The car struck two large poles a at gas station. The truck was later found abandoned. What kind of injuries did the officer sustain . He had head injuries injuries and diagnosed with a concussion. Hes in good spirits. He says he feels like he has a bad headache. Reporter the chief tells us they were able to track morgan down quickly was because of a prior arrest. I i know he had been driving that truck when he was arrested a few months ago, so we knew quickly who he was. Reporter back in july morgan was arrested on burglary as well as fleeing and alluding an officer. Its been dangerous for his officers. Its very hard for our officers. For one minute they could be talking to the nicest person on earth and the next minute theyre talking to someone who grace of god he got not a serious of an injury. Detectives say he stole her car and dismed it in if kissimmee where he was later arrested. His next Court Appearance is set for june.
