Steve in fox 5 health news, if offered money, a survey finds a lot of people would part with a kidney. Right now compensation for kidney donations is illegal, but researchers say this extremely controversial idea should be studied further. Dari dr. Manny in the house. I mean, you know, dr. Manny, it seems like that would make sense. Whats the problem . No. I think its very unethical because look, Organ Donation if you look at the number of donors, it really hasnt increased despite all the publicity publicity. When you talk about kidney donation, you have about 70,000 people that die every year in the u. S. Waiting for a kidney. The concept of living donation, in other words, you giving up one of your healthy kidneys to a loved one, is something that a lot of hospitals are pushing for. And that is happening more and more where you see stories, where you have a stranger listening to a story, something in the news, and they say you know what . Im going to donate one of my kidneys kidneys. You only need one to live a normal life. They studied it and put a 50,000 price on it. Surprisingly enough, the Younger Generation said 50,000 would make a lot of sense and they would consider it. The older generation didnt feel that thats going to make a difference either way. They donate eggs and get paid for it. I dont understand. Again, Organ Transplantation is a more sophisticated concept than just donating sperm or eggs and getting paid for that because thats almost like an elective service. Here youre saving a life. Nobody dies from not having a baby. You can die from not having a kidney. Its a different concept. I think thats why the law was passed to make this illegal and i think if you speak to a lot of transplant services and doctors, they will say its not a good idea. So 50,000. You want to pay 100,000. Ill give you 100,000. The next person put 200. It becomes a bidding war that doesnt play a role in ethics and medicine. Steve fair enough. Dari medicine tation may be the best prescription for chronic back pain . This is something that we this is meditation and yoga, a combination combination, relaxing and also relaxing your muscles. When people have chronic back pain, a lot of it has to do with muscle spasm in the lower back. You could have chronic nerve damage or herniated disc. If you compound that with muscle spasms, thats going to make your chronic pain get worse and worse and worse. You see this happening despite the fact that surgery versus conservative treatment, at the end of the day, both have similar outcomes. If you want to enhance or get rid of this chronic pain, this is a good way to take advantage of this technique. This is a very large study. Not only this study and many others, when you combine meditation, relaxation exercises, 20, 30 minutes, and you implement some yoga poses to help you with flexibility, theres a 60 percent reduction in pain overall. Ago, we were talking about the chronic use of painkillers and things like that. Again, this is a very good example how you dont need pills to get rid of the pain. Today my vote for the best day of the week. If you havent gotten out, you want to get out now. We will see temperatures take a drop in the next couple of days. Were running almost 20 degrees above where we should be this time of year in central park. This morning we started with a cooler 48, but thats pretty closer to our normal high for this time of year. Areawide, we have nice temperatures for this hour, if i could advance any graphics, i could show you that. Ill step out and get to the computer so i can show you that. Temperatures, again, feeling pretty good. Right now were at the current high of 71 in central park. A little cooler along our southfacing shore points. Thats where were finding readings getting cooler because theyre coming off the ocean waters. 71 in the park. Humidity dew point, very nice and comfortable. Areawide, temperatures feeling pretty good. Were at 67 in islip. Its 62 in bridgeport. Again, cooler towards montauk with that ocean like the flow coming off the ocean is keeping temperatures cooler there. Inland numbers soaring into the 60s like poughkeepsie and up towards sussex, new jersey. Across the northeast, it feels really nice from central park down towards d. C. To the north you can see temperatures take a significant drop. A noticeable reading difference in albany and boston where temperatures are in the 40s. Thats a cold front thats lingering to our north here. On the northern side of it, we have the readings in the 30s and 40s and on the southern side, were finding the milder temperatures. Along the front we have a couple of showers rolling through. There are areas of low pressure that will ride along that front. Most of that action will stay to the north, which is good news for us. If youre in the hudson valley, looks like clouds could sag southward enough. That could keep temperatures down tomorrow. Well be seeing a difference in the readings. Theres an area of low pressure across the center of the nation. It is igniting snow showers. By the time it reaches our region, with all the mild temperatures in place, well have the precipitation in the form of rain and it will be arriving starting late thursday night. Ahead of the system, a nice mild surge coming from the southeast, reaching as far north as the tristate area. The front sags just a little southward. Thats a back door cold front. That will allow cooler air to work in from the north. Temperatures will take a slight this time of year. As we start off the day tomorrow, well have a mix of sun and clouds. That will be the trend through the afternoon. More clouds will be lingering to the north. More sunshine will break through as we go into central and southern new jersey. The rain showers will stay off to the north and well stay dry into thursday. Thats when this system starts to make its approach and through the day on friday. We will be seeing scattered showers throughout the day. Good news, it will be out of here by the weekend and drier weather will be here in time for saturday and sunday. Well be dry tonight, too, and temperatures will be nice for this time of year. Were going to overnight readings in the upper 30s north and west to close to 50 in the city. Tomorrow, well have a mix of sun and clouds, more clouds to the north, more sun to the south and temperatures will be slightly above average but cooler than they were across the region today.
