He revealed that his family is going through some tough times these days and that he plans to ask the pontiff for a special prayer for his family. Jessica has the rest of the story. Reporter yesterday we met Pedro Hernandez, one of six students of our lady queen of Angels School who will get to meet pope francis. What he wants to say to the holy father was touching to me. What are you going to tell him . To pray for my mom. Why . So my mom can have enough we caught up with his mother outside the school. She was unaware of what he told us. Im so proud that my son thinks about me. Its a beautiful thought. But i tell them they dont need to worry about anything. Reporter she is a single mother of four. She left poverty and came looking for a better life and ended up in manhattan. 10 years later, she moved to the bronx. Its difficult here but its more difficult in mexico. She has many jobs to support her family, sells food, cleans homes and collects cans. She says god provides in one way or another. God always helps me. She says she has a great connection with the pope. When she was a little girl, Pope John Paul ii was in mexico. She wanted to see him but didnt get a chance. When she found out pope francis was coming to new york and chose to visit her childrens school, she was ecstatic. Be allowed to be present during the popes visit due to security measures but she held on to her faith. Its here where she comes to pray. She would ask god to grant her the wish to meet pope francis. Her prayers were answered. When they called me to tell me i was going to be with the pope, i was so happy, so happy.
